    The Day After Christmas has become my favorite holiday. Now that I’ve had a bit of fun with the fam, come for a walk around the yard with me and we’ll catch up a bit.

    Welcome back to RUclips, missed the content. Everything looks nice and tucked in for the winter. Any tropicals to keep you busy over the winter? Thanks, keep growing

    • @BonsaiEcho
      @BonsaiEcho  2 года назад

      No tropicals anymore. I’d rather keep plants that can handle it much colder. Those larches, for example. Those are going to be fun to work on!

    Beautiful snow covered images. Or snow got rained away on the 24th this year.

      I’m appreciating it while it’s here. It’ll likely be gone with next weekend’s rain.

    Hiya,
    Terrific to see your smiling face and hear your lovely, lilting laugh. Very happy, too, to hear you are making plans for more videos. Something to look forward to in the upcoming year. YAY!
    Question….have you found a good way to overwinter your ginkgo (do you have more than one?)?
    Best wishes to you and yours for a Happy New Year.

      Hey Jeff🙋🏻‍♂️ good to hear from you. I currently have one ginkgo… probably. It’s a seedling under the snow in the seedling grow out bed. In the past, I’ve kept my ginkgos in pots either in the unheated greenhouse or out in the bonsai bench. They haven’t seemed to have a preference.
      Merry New Year to you!

    Hi bonsai echo, thanks for sharing winterizing trees. I am new to japanese maple, when is the best time/months to repot maple? Here in north america temperature goes down -18'C right now. What is the best temperature to keep Japanese maple inside greenhouse?
    Thanks and happy new year..

    • @BonsaiEcho
      @BonsaiEcho  2 года назад

      Japanese maples planted in the ground should be ok down to -10 C without worry. If in pots, extra protection below -2 C is advised. The pots can buried in the ground or covered with straw or mulch for some protection. At your low temps, I suggest a cold frame or unheated shed or garage until the weather warms above freezing. I suggest repotting once the temps consistently remain above freezing in spring. I use the buds as a guide. They will expand more as they reach a good time. Wait until they start barely showing green and then go back in time an repot just before that. Basically, watch for it and repot just ahead of time.
