The difference is in professional football you have to perform first. A rookie gets preset rookie pay and maybe a signing bonus, maybe not. In college,a kid who may never see the field should be in the same position.
It’s the landscape that is being ruined. When the season is going and game are being played, it’s still the same cfb we love. They just need to lay down some laws for tampering, off-season, nil, etc.
I don’t tune in often, but every time I do I’m always flabbergasted at how worked up grown men get talking into a microphone about college kids and what they are doing.
Why? Let's be honest there are some things that we do not want changing and that is college football and basketball. So grown ass men don't suppose to show concern about the institutions that they care about?
Why should a fan really invest? That is the right question to ask. I don't watch the NBA because everything I loved about it doesn't exist anymore. No more rivalries. Guys are moving from team to team all the time. Guys are taking days off when they healthy. Then the NBA wants to keep driving up the prices on everything? The players have to much control of the league and because of that, it has lost a lot of its fans. Now college is giving to much control to the players and they too are moving from college to college. Why do I want to invest my time and money when the climate can change almost overnight.
Tie Sabans comments to izzos about not being able to coach current players because of their “feelings “ and you see the problem with college athletics today. Transfer portal and nil money have made players basically unrestricted free agents. They want to get paid put them under contract.
I love how this conversation only goes against teenage boys. You think Saban told players during his recruiting pitch that he was leaving this year? Or we just don’t care he probably lied to get those kids there?
As a Michigan fan this is why I’m glad we just won the National Championship, because I’ve been disliking college football more and more over the years and since we just won I really don’t need to care anymore- not to mention we broke OSU’s fanbase to the point their idiot alums are over overspending on the program. Like, they COULD give that money to charity or help their families out or whatever, but instead they’ll throw it at teenage athletes. Alrighty then XD
Bro this is literally how I feel. All I ever wanted as a sports fan is to see a Michigan National Championship. More would be nice but seeing Michigan do it before the rearrangement of CFP is a whole different level of satisfying. Don’t need to see much more now. I’m strangely ok with the sport dying now😂
agree 1,000% with you two. I said last summer it was going to be the last year that college football is a semblance of what its always been. It has certainly changed but going forward it will become unrecognizable and in a bad way. For Michigan, they had a golden opportunity to get over the hump and they did!
What exactly do you think Michigan boosters did in order to build up its current roster? Do you honestly think all those guys stayed/came back out of the goodness of their heart? Stop acting like your school's athletics or its boosters are any type of moral authority because they're not. Need I remind you of the guy you have a statue built for who covered for a predator doctor? I'm not arguing Ohio State isn't corrupt or shady as a fan of the team, but every party that participates in major college football is contemptible in some way. Your holier than thou program doesn't get a pass.
lol, dude Harbaugh didn’t go from 0-5, and 2020 to a Naty in three years without pay for play, cheating the system, and doing everything that everyone else is doing. If you think differently you are dumber than a box of rocks.
I think Dartmouth should end their basketball team for the 2024 season. I think players should have 1 move in the portal and that’s it. If you leave for another school, you are there for the duration.
@@ericstoppels9527 That's not his argument....His argument is that CFB is still going to thrive with hired mercenaries instead of kids who care about the game or their school...
The thing I never understood about all of this is that you went from being outrageously strict to allowing complete chaos. You could argue that it's the NCAA's way of saying, we told you so and go right back to being strict again where they pocket all the money. Something to think about.
@@MA-tr4tiunless you want to change the equal power balance between judges the legislature and the executive branch good luck with doing that. But the NCAA has itself to blame it could have allowed its players to get money long long time ago but it did not and I wanted to stay old traditional fogies.
Saban walked because he knew he no longer had the competitive advantage. No that pay for play is legal, schools that were more conservative in their approach, can openly commit ash resources to it without repercussions. He knows Bama doesn’t have those resources to compete on the same level as the schools with the larger alumni and booster bases. Recall it hasn’t been too long since he told the Bama boosters they needed to step it up to compete.
So basically Saban quit once players got the opportunity to leave and play elsewhere without strings attached and other schools could use NIL to pay players which leveled the playing field. Sounds like a bunch of crybaby talk from Saban
@sydIRISH couldn't agree more. He's an all time great coach, but he also got all of the top talent and could afford to not play them because the transfer rules favored the schools. Now the players have more power and he couldn't handle it, similar to his NFL coaching career
College athletes went from no leverage to more leverage than professional athletes.
Mike needs to realize that these large universities are no different than big businesses. In a lot of ways, schools arent schools anymore

I agree 1000% with Saban and Valenti. College athletics sucks now
Roberto catching strays damn 😂
I usually stay positive but CFB is definitely dying. It’s been ruined. It’s a sad day.
It's not dying. It's changing, but it's not dying.
