There actually is not just a bit of sandalwood in Bergamask. It takes up almost 50% of the formula. Gualtieri uses an overdose of an synthetic sandalwood molecule called javanol (together with ebanol and polysantol).
I’ll echo this sentiment by saying this is my favorite, most worn, and most complimented fragrance. I’m a massive fan too. The only person that sneezes around me is the secretary at work so I’ll leave it for special occasions. Get the authentic version. I'm on my second bottle. Top notes: Bergamot and Lemon; Middle notes: Lavender, Orange Blossom, and Lily of the Valley; Base notes: Musk, Cedar, and Tonka. Aesops has beautiful natural-smelling fragrances.
I agree absolutely with your review, especially the part how Bergamask smells in the air for others. It is much more airy and clean, than when you smell it from a paper strip. My girlfriend loves it. It also depend in which climate/temperature you use it, it is as you say one of the few fragrances which performs in the heat.

In the early dry-down this bears a striking resemblance (for my nose) to Atelier Colognes' Cèdre Atlas. I've found it super addictive from the first sniff. Thanks Matt - probably the most substantive and direct fragrance reviewer on RUclips.
All the ortos are fantastic....take a bit of getting used to....but very much worth taking the time with them. Massive thanks to Matt for putting me onto them.
I adore this stuff, ran through my bottle this summer and if I keep wearing it I'll need another one because even on some cool crisp mornings it smells divine then too.

Some time ago, being influenced by your videos, I bought samples of Megamare and Bergamask, both frags very attention grabbing. I used once only one spray of megamare and my female colleague told me at office that I sprayed myself like crazy ;)) Another colleague told me to smell some oud when I used bergamask, so it possible that people detect this note in the air. Overall unique, powerful frags, definitely worth checking before any buy :) Keep up great work Matt, cheers :)

This is the perfect review of Bergamask, perfectly done Matt!!! Im still saving money to buy this fragrance next year!! Its a kind of scent that i cant stop smelling this on my arm and the more you sweat the more goes strong, totally agree with you Matt 🙏.
Just got my first bottle today. I think the opening has an element of geranium. The heavy citrus note that geranium leaves give of when crushed. Hands down my favourite fragrance ever.

@@MarkKislich No , it's got a sharpness in the opening but it's deep and rich , almost waxy Bergamot with sharp lavender before the sexy and slightly edgy musks kick in and the Sandalwood wakes up and gets involved
Thank you Matt, I've just used up a decant on your recommendation and ordered a bottle, honestly love the stuff, if i had to throw my frags away and just have one it would be bergamask, I was unsure from reading some of the reviews referring to the animalic side of it but after trying it I've realised that that's where the magic is. Masterpiece.

Questioning Scents so wore it all yesterday. Just woke up and still smelling strong. Not sure if you’re familiar with Vera Wang for men. The dry down reminds so much of that but this one is more potent.

Nice video! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Sampled Bergamask and eventually got me a full bottle. Full wear from a bottle smells different, first impressions changed a lot. What's that musk? It's so different. Cashemeran? Doesn't smell like muscenone or any popular musc ketone. The weirdest synthetic musk I had smelled so far was that in Musc Nomade, by Annick Goutal, but this musk here reminds me of that one used in Ambre Muscadin by Laurent Mazzone. It's like fur, but synthetic fur if that makes sense. I can't pin point anything. So, so strange.

I've smelled Bergamask once before and while I liked it initially I wasn't quite sold on it. In your video you mentioned that it takes some time to really grow to really appreciate it - how long did this process take for you Matt? I had that same experience with Cobra and the Canary from Imaginary Authors.

I think Gaultieri uses multiple musks to achieve the signature we find in so many of his wonderful creations. Glad you liked the content buddy

This smells good but too strong. I washed a shirt that I used with this and everything in the load smelled like it.
You need a circular polarizing filter on your lens to remove the glare from your glasses.
I love Nasomatto Silver Musk and it's my signature scent. Is this similar?
