You’re not actually missing out on 3 1/2 million gold because that’s assuming you never spend the energy. You will spend the energy when the event begins and you’ll be spending more per day because you hoarded. You’re delaying how much you get for the time that you hoard and you’re losing out only on the time based energy refresh.
You're right I didn't really consider that and I should have. You would be losing your natural time based energy though, so I should have scaled that back actually so its like missing 244 energy per day.

Not sure what you're suggesting. Do you mean spending 675 cores for shards vs hoarding for an event early? Depends on the event I guess. I don't normally 675 core characters though, Alpha Flight was an exception for reasons I gave in previous videos, cuz Canada. You can get way more event progress for the value of 675 cores than what is probably gonna be 6 shards though. 675 Cores = 13.5 refreshes?

This is true, I wasn't thinking that far ahead at 1am lol. It is the 244 energy lost per day which is your natural time refresh.

New character shards definitely worth more than 3.5M gold. But missing out on Gold & training orbs though... I'm running low on both right now and I'm still in the process of upgrading my raid teams. 🤔
Is Northstar worth losing out on the gold/training mats/other stuff? I don't care about War defense. Obviously the Raids matter but I'm assuming his regular unlock at 4 stars will be enough
I do like his remove revives ultimate ability in CC matches against Dorm or IW teams or room 5 but not sure he's gonna be viable there except for that one niche use
I will say that from play testing, if you are running spotlight D2 then it is challenging even for 5Y5R 95 G18. So with this in mind I'll take as many shards as i can get. Also future events tend to give bonus pts for 5+ yellow star characters which is the norm now.
you didn't account for loosing the 'Save the World' milestones. gold, cores, t4, etc

You can change your defense each match. So just go change it now and use them on offense next round.

Hoarder here. You can't get top 1000 without spending - I've hoarded a lot (and missed some Strike Pass rewards as a penalty), and even a massive amount of saved energy (12,000 units) won't get you there. Which means most of the spicy rewards referred to (crimson gear especially) won't be reachable unless you spend also.
I think 1-3% is usually fine with just the 50 core refreshes. So it's a lesser amount of the crimson mini-uniques, and then none of the other stuff - diamond Northstar, crimson orb fragments, etc. Obviously it isn't a science; it can change according to the event and the rewards (sometimes non-spenders spend).
This solely depends on the spenders. Some milestones people decide to spend more than others. The dakken leaderboard had more spenders due to the mephisto buffs even after having multiple mutant auctions. I'd follow the math to ensure you don't miss pass items and if you get further it is a free bonus.

I keep a reserve of 10K of all 3 of the energy types. It makes these energy spending events way easier. It usually only costs about 3K to get the event items, and I might spend a bit more to grab an extra milestone. I also buy the Strike Passes once in a while and it doesn't make any difference, because the cost needed to core energy is paid back by the core rewards in the Strike Pass.
Did i understand the math wrong or did you calculate "losing" 600 energy? You only lose the free 288 energy... the rest is hoarded to be spent later, sure you don't get orbs because you will cap those nodes but it's not like you farm all of training and gold everyday
No you are right. I didn't really think far enough in to the future about only really losing the time based energy. With that in mind the loss is even less then and just furthers the idea of hoarding lol.
@@Boilon And at the end of the day you are not that far off neither because the gold and training orbs require 1440 energy, after that both gains drop in half but not worth the hassle to calculate lol
yeah i started saving again. at 1k. going straight back to farming gold nodes. i'm on a missing to G17 some older teams like New Avengers and Infinity Watch before going hardcore on Alpha Flight. I don't think the devs are giving us Wolverine Tokens for his rework sadly. They would have done it already i feel.
Are you doing 50 core refreshes on campaign energy while hoarding the seven days before event?
I am doing 50 core refreshes + my free claims as hoarding before the event. During the event I plan to do 200 cores as that should be sufficient since the pre hoarding will mean i wont need to do 400-600 cores per day during.

Hey, new player to the game (just 2 weeks in) and wondering what would be the best use of the premium currency (purple cylinder thingy)? I'm thinking of playing the game pretty casually but I would also like to know an efficient way to use the premium currency? I thought maybe I blew it by not going for Old Man Logan but I wasn't sure then if that would be wise to do. Any help or advice is appreciated!
Quit... F this game... I'm a day 1 player and I've put to much time in to quit. But you have a chance to listen to us and save your time and frustration towards this bs game and scumbag devs.
I'd listen to the guy who said quit, but if you're enjoying the game I would hold onto it until you've had some more experience.
I'd beg to differ from the guy who said to hold off on it, but only slightly. I'd suggest you use at least a certain amount per day, but hold off on the rest until you have some more experience. The amount is 50 Power Core (that purple cylinder), and use it to buy campaign energy (yellow thunderbolt) which will give you 120 energies, and you can use them to farm nodes for character shards/item or progress your campaign, whatever fits your circumstances at the moment (try to find the most recent farming guides available for that).
BUT,
it is crucial that before doing all that, you create Scopely account and link it to your game first and foremost. That is because this game has a web store that is separated from the in-game store and is easily missed by new players (at least I missed it for about a month or two when I started). In the web store part, there will be a web milestone which is different from the milestone you saw in game (and more often than not, feeding points back and forth between each other). Among that, there is one milestone on permanent cycle everyday, which is spending 50 Power cores, and you'll be rewarded with 100 campaign energies, 50 ISO-8 energy (green thunderbolt, very likely not unlocked for you right now), one Premium Orb, and some Battle Pass experience. So, you spend 50 cores to buy energy, and then you will also be rewarded more energy, and all this will help you progress further in game. Can't really recommend you to skip this, since you have to be mid-end game before you can really participate in any event at all in this game, and all that is locked behind your commander level, which can be leveled up mainly through campaign energy during early games. But to spend any further, I'd agree that you hold off on that until you understand the gist of the game more what is worth it and what is not.
TL;DR - create Scopely account and link it to your game first; then spend 50 core to buy yellow thunderbolt energy and use it on farming nodes or progress the campaign, then login to the web and clam more energy reward; rinse & repeat everyday. If you complete all the daily goals, you'd get at least 50 cores to spend. Hold off on spending further than that until you understand what is worth spending core on and what isn't.

Since some other new (casual) players might be wondering of a more substantial answer, I would like to share what I've decided to use the power cores and that is to use it just enough to catch up with the First S.T.R.I.K.E milestones.
It seems impossible to finish that particular milestone in time with just spending energy so buying a 5 shard or T4 from supplies using power core would immensely speed up the completion of that milestone (1 power core = 1 milestone).
Also, the main consideration for spending it that way for me is because completing the First S.T.R.I.K.E milestone gives us a full Spider Society team which currently is one of the better teams out right now.
Raid chars dont need 7 yellows and ull still unlock him id rather be able to get more exp or other shards for other chars by not hoarding on campain nodes that i need now and for other events ull need all 5 alpha at high investment before u can even use them in raids that thats AFTER u get to diff 2 50 % as its worth more to 50% higher then lower 100% raid so alpha are kinda a bait for whales only atm untill everyone has 2m+ spider society or w/e it takes to smash all the nodes.
Please don't hoard just to get 1% rewards. Spending your 50 cores daily during the event should be more than enough for that level
