  • The Sound of Silence Guitar Lesson by Simon and Garfunkel ✅ Support the channel. Check out Lauren’s Guitar Course - laurenbatemang... - Welcome to my The Sound of Silence guitar tutorial. In this guitar lesson, I will be going over a simplified way to fingerpick The Sound of Silence. When this song is played live there are definitely lots of different variations in the fingerstyle and playing. So I come up with a consistent fingerpicking pattern that you can use over The Sound of Silence to make it sound good enough to play at parties.
I will show you the real intro to the Sound of Silence and then I will demonstrate the fingerstyle we will be using for this guitar lesson. After that, I will demonstrate the strumming pattern I observed Simon and Garfunkel using when they perform the song live which is a very simple eighth note strumming pattern.

Lauren, I know you have so many followers. We have communicated several times. I am the Chicago Public School graduate who is a 100% disabled veteran teaching guitar to other disabled vets. This is another example why I promote your site. Yesterday I gave a student your site to assist her to learn Let it Be. She was very excited and thought you were amazing as well. She said she will follow you

Exactly. She is the very best imo. I had tried learning to play as a child and teenager because my whole family plays instruments and for the life of me, I either couldn't learn or deep down really didn't want to. But about 6 months ago I bought me 2 new fender acoustics to try and deal with stress and depression and was determined to figure it out. Almost gave up until one day I stumbled upon Laurens videos and by golly I figured it out and just in six months I learned over 15 different chords and I can play 5 full songs or so. I'm still amazed tbh. So thank you Lauren. You really are the best. Always looking forward to your videos. Plz keep up the amazing work

Lauren, you are an angel. I play since 6 years, learning on my own using books from the music academy Belgium. I can play some fingerpicking and know some songs by heart. But once I knew a 20 songs, I stopped learning. Untill I stumbled on your lessonswebsite. And from that moment, I am motivated again to improve my playing, just because the way you give your lessons. You give these lessons with a lot of love and enthousiasme and this motivates the watcher to improve him/hereself. It is a lot of fun following your courses. For more variation , after the walk down from c major to c/b to a minor finger picking pattern I might just go back up to the c major finger picking pattern , then finish off with the G major finger picking pattern and the final A minor finger picking pattern and then a slow rake of the a minor chord to finish off with to try to make it sound a little bit more like the original record ! :)

Thank-you Lauren. Awesome lesson! Such a classic song, timeless, and oh so relevant piece of music. Not sure how I missed this lesson earlier, but glad I found it. Going to practice. Thank-you again.👏👏

Hi. New to your Channel. Just wanna say thanks. One of the great teacher here in RUclips I’ve seen. You make it easy to learn. I love this song. Been trying to learn it, but have a hard time connecting with tutor. I can finally play this to family. Thank you.
If you haven’t yet. The leader of the band by Dan Fogelberd , fingerstyle would be great.

Thank you, Julius for the recommendation. I get lots of song requests so I cannot guarantee that I will get to it, but I will definitely add it to my list.

Great song. Simon and Garfunkel were big before my time. I like the disturbed version. One of the few covers that I prefer over the original. I was learning acoustic songs on an electric but finally bought an acoustic yesterday. It's a cheap one. I unboxed it tuned it and it sounded like 💩. Using the first or second fret just sounded like a snare drum. Luckily a friend at work is really good with guitars. He helped adjust the truss rod and now it sounds great. I'm sure it will need a tweak here and there but it's atleast playable now.

Thank you, Im trying to use Travis picking... I'm not good in strumming using a pick.. I'm more comfortable using my fingers.. I always did it wrong with the pick.. Though I'm trying my best to practice using pick too..more power to your channel..
