Most teachers assume so much and rush by parts so fast they are hard to understand. I love and appreciate your explaining tricky parts several times to make sure we can get it. The extra tips at the end are very good and help us to have some flair! Thanks for being such a patient, caring, and excellent teacher!!

I could write several paragraphs on this lesson but keeping it short - I think this is the best lesson on this great song on the WEB. Do not skip the bonus section, it enhances the song big time and is not difficult.

May I make a suggestion? Please refer to the stings by their number. The skinny E string is the 1st string. The 6th string , as you know is also an E. It doesn't help when you refer to the strings, as the top one or the bottom one. You have a lovely voice and believe it or not, it is a big is a great tool for teaching. Thank you so very much. I shall continue to follow you because yo speak clearly and I can tell you really want your viewers to learn . Thank you

I just recently found your channel and bought my first guitar. I have been taking piano lessons for the past 10 years and got my first music lesson 67 years ago on an accordion. One of the first tunes I learned was The Skater's Waltz. At the time, I was told waltz time was 3/4 time. I never saw 6/8 time until many years later when I fell in love with traditional Irish music, where I was told that 6/8 time was "jig" time. I really enjoy your videos. Will be signing up for your beginner's course next week. Thanks for all the hard work. Sorry, I guess time has passed me by. I just saw another video on this song and that guy also said it was in waltz time. I just need to get with the times :)

This lesson made a huge difference in the sound of this song going from how I was playing it to how it sounds. If I can figure out how to record on Garage Band I will post the the new version here. Would like to post my old version for comparison but don't want to play it like that again. This lesson is not complex but makes a huge improvement.

Another awesome lesson. Thank you. One question. Why is the Em7 not played with just the ist finger on the A string second fret. That said it seems to me it doesn't matter either way because the low E is open and the only GB and high E are picked. So if we aren't strumming Em7 at some point why play it that way?

when I learn a picking pattern I learn using the string numbers & not the fingers (If Im understanding how u r teaching) so it confuses me a bit. Kinda turns my head around a bit. So I have to write down the string numbers instead so when I read music notation I can continue doing the way it is written. grr. Thank u for the song. I do have a different pattern by Leonard Cohen from a book "100 Most Beautiful songs ever for guitar picking". I do like your version also.

Yes even Jeff does it a little different. This makes it more applicable for the late beginner.

@@LaurenBateman I started with classical guitar years ago & slack key guitar so I guess I had a bit of a solid learning background . Had to stop the guitar due to work but now I have time to revisit some of those things I had learned. Thank u again for your videos and response. Your videos help to nudge me along in my musical journey which will always B a life time of learning . No matter what information is out there on music there is always something to learn.
