      because the brush creates tons of vector points making the data in the file bigger if your making a graphic for web, optimization is essential and you can get probably a tenth or less data making the shapes with a pen tool then you would with a brush.

If you people traced an image it'd look no where near as clean as this.

      It depends on the style you're going for! If you wanted to make something more cartoonish in nature, such as making the proportions disproportionate, then yes, it would be better to draw by reference. By tracing, it still maintains accurate proportions, and it's the cell shading and lining that makes it look cartoonish, yet still realistic.

      most artists trace when they want to do likenesses or realism, it's easier/faster and is still quality work, it's not cheating in any way and isn't lesser than hand drawn pieces unless they try to pass it off as entirely free-handed or if it is traced off of someone else's work

      No I totally get it, I do it too, but I usually try to reference first, get my own flare into it, if it's not what I like then I just trace the basic stuff and go from there.

      110% AGREED! The fact that ppl do this often and still call it art and make profit off of it is what destroys the value of art and the community. It's a cheap way to make a quick buck and creates the illusion of art. Anyone can trace an image. ANYONE!

      Mans got skill regardless if he traced or not. his color choices for base, shade and light are fantastic. He could draw the simplest thing and make it look amazing with his color palette. No need to hate fr

    Dope finish truly. But im just not a fan of ppl tracing images, tweaking them and touching them up, selling them, and still calling it art.

      Sydney Alvelo so if a customer wanted you to make an animated version of them based off a picture, you would say that’s not real art? lmaoooo.

      Nana Wordie he meant like not drawing / tracing on top of the image and call it art. Which I agree coz I think it’s a skill to draw a portrait without tracing it. Other than when you are practicing lol

      Hahahaha dude c'mon is hard to do it I invited you to do it by yourself. This guy is talented he has a really good technique probably you are jealous. You do not have any idea about vectors is for that reason you are saying that. People that critic design are people that doesn't have any idea about illustrator.

      Dezox oh, so you're better than everybody else? Okay. You call yourself an artist, but you bring other artists down just because it's different from yours.

    • @prixtn
      @prixtn 6 лет назад +12

      zrcjin Did I say I'm better than everyone else? No.
      I have already explained my point above, but for you again: He just trace the picture and colors it. Wow. He can color well, dont get me wrong. But that's all it, at least for this video.
