I found this out last minute, Japan is now featuring a return to the B-Daman world with... bottle caps?! Pretty neat! Source: ruclips.net/video/GdK_vBzIt6Y/видео.html
Fun fact, b-daman originally started life as a bomberman offshoot of all things(there was even an anime that lasted 2 seasons of 50 or so episodes each). That might make for in interesting video down the road.
Why don't you review bottleman while your at it. It's a spiritual successor to b-daman that is more economical than the predecessor. It's like b-daman but they launch bottle caps instead of glass marbles.
These actually look really cool, and the fact that you'll have ammo as long as someone in your house drinks from water bottles or somethin is super handy! Those shots look pretty strong too!
Holy shit, I can't believe how obsessed I was with this shit back in 5th grade. I had one of the direct hit models, like the one with that see through sight and long as barrel with that panel that would break the muzzle if hit. They used to play the anime on ABC Family at like 6:30 in the morning and I never missed it before school.
it also varies from bdaman to bdaman, Cobalt Blade and Samurai Phoneix restrain their holdparts from behind with backpacks that plug into the back of their holdparts. Helio Breaker does it with its arm parts.
Never thought anyone will bring the series to the light again. I freaking loved B-Daman when I first saw the show and I got one too (then I lost it shortly after). Glad you talked about it.
I didn't expect this channel to talk about B-Daman This is neat. I still have my hybrid looking Bdaman in my shelf. Trying to improve how powerful it can shoot marvels is fun
B-Daman was the one thing I was so obsessed with over Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokemon and Beyblade as a kid. I used to own over 40 B-Daman and the amount of different variations were crazy. I vividly remember having a variation of Cobalt Blade called Midnight Blade for example, which I even considered to be a fusion of Chrome Zephyr and Cobalt Blade because of the color scheme and design. But these were the regular versions which used to cost €10,-. While the Direct Hit Battle ones I had cost €20,-. Thinking about it, it was quite a steal. To later on find out that B-Daman Fire Spirits was a thing many many years later, was kinda sad. It means I missed out on not only an amazing sequel to the show I loved as a kid, but also that I potentially missed out on getting some of the newer B-Daman. For example Cobalt Saber was absolutely my favorite B-Daman. So you can imagine finding out Cobalt Saber Fire existed totally drove me crazy and don't even get me started on Cobalt Blaster. Sad to say I don't own any of these B-Daman anymore as my mother gave these away a very long time ago (without me knowing), otherwise I would've totally fought to keep them. Not necessarily to play with them, but to put them on display. I still own a few DVD's, with them going from Episode 1 to Episode 9 all together. But man do I miss those days... Taking my customized B-Daman to a friends house and having a tournament with like 8 of us. Or even this one time we had a tournament with different classes at school, that day it literally felt like I was at the Winner Tournament! Didn't win at Direct Hit Battle mostly, but B-Daman Invasion (the one with the puck) was the one I was super good and beat everyone at! This comment is getting way too long I feel and nobody is going to read it all, but I simply wanted to share my thoughts since I have such a great love and passion for B-Daman. Also thank you FrameRater for making this video. When I saw the video in my recommendations, I immediately had to check it out! :)
I read the whole thing, man, also, wow, I was so into B-daman back into he days as well, although I really hoped now to have gotten the same kind of experience as you, because to me you were extremely lucky ot have suck awesome experience with them, but with me, while it was still very fun and awesome to collect all of the b-damans, it probably would have been a lot better if there were anyone, even 1 person that played it as well in my neighborhood, but alas I was living in the philippines at the time and wasn't as popular at our neighborhood. Man, I envy your experience with them. Having the opportunity to have battled with many people and multiple friends probably every day, even a tournament at school, must have been one hell of a time/experience as a kid. Although, I can't deny that I still had a blast and the time of my life trying to collect every single product released by takara tomy/Hasbro when I was a kid, and thankfully I still have most of then now as well, even living in another country so I guess I'm pretty lucky in that regards. Also wrote pretty long!!!! 😆
@@simple4689 Y'know thinking about it, playing B-Daman at school was pretty similar to playing Beyblade. Just that B-Daman was more engaging and fun, because you're actually in control of what happens. Whereas with Beyblade you just had to pray your blade would keep spinning, while your opponent's would stop before yours. It's a shame you didn't get to experience B-Daman like I did. I think what really carried these toys, is the Anime. Shows like B-Daman, Beyblade, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokemon etc. Would all air during school breaks. We'd have class until 12, parents would pick us up and take us home. We'd have lunch and watch the show that was airing at the time. Commercial break shows that these toys are in store. And this would simply lead to you asking your parents to buy it for you in the weekend, when you go shopping. And then the weekend after, you'd tell your friends at school. "I got this cool new toy/card. You should check it out!" It all goes hand in hand. I was a pretty shy kid. But when it came to having fun with these types of things, is where I was very open with!
This is one of those childhood things that just slipped completely out of my memory until I found this video. I remember getting very into that anime as a kid and convincing my parents to buy me then Sonic Kahn one, then I realized that none of my friends had that toy so there wasn't really that much I could do with it.
I loved this show! Watched it alongside Kaiju Big Battel and reruns of Beast Wars with my little brothers. Hasbro had a one hour block running these three segments together. My favorite B-Daman character was Grey, between his personality and his dressing like a wizard.
I too have nostalgia with B-Daman via Sonokong importing them in South Korea. I remember seeing the show and toys on both sides of the globe from Korea to the USA. 3:55 *ahem Korean version of Takara product*
Even among nostalgiac Japanese collectable toy lines with saturday morning anime, this is one kind of forgotten. If Beyblade was Yu-Gi-Oh, then B-daman was Duel Masters.
Lol for a moment I thought this was a Billiam video. But yeah I really liked B-Daman back in the day. I remember buying a bootleg one with money I found laying on the street and when I asked my parents to buy a set online even when the B-Daman craze ended. Really neat toys/collectables. pd: 7:00 this was the one I had back when I was a kid.
Loved the video FrameRater! B-Daman is my obsession so if I may be a B-DaNerd in the comments for a moment; Power is based on putting tension onto the hold parts. Lighting Kahn/Turbo Kahn's power buckle makes it harder for the hold parts to spread out while firing via the front, while Cobalt Blade's power wings plugging into the back of the hold parts also do the same job. That's what makes some more powerful. Hope this info helped! (Also I'm making a video game inspired by B-Daman if that interests anyone. Armatelum Showdown)
@@daybreak9641 Yeah... But they really did screw up B-Daman Crossfire. There are SOME Fireblast (eS) figures. I have some. There is a full Crossfire and Fireblast English dubs on RUclips. Official uploads too. So at least that's there. Well Dragold was defeated in Crossfight, so not point bringing him back, although a Emblem Charge Dragold would be hella cool.
Had Helio Breaker when I was young. I think the dude that used him in the show was my favorite character, but I barely remember the show. Glad I found this video.
Man, I remember B-Daman, I have a few, even have the loaded-for-bear jar of glass marbles that attached to the head of the blaster along with it's loading port... but they're packed away in a box somewhere along with the battle alley you could get.
The "power" differences are due to pieces that impact the shooting mechanism. Cobalt Blade's wings lock into the hole on the back of the shooting frame, providing resistance when you try to fire, which results in a stronger shot. Lightning Kahn has a short muzzle that adds pressure but on the release, which also achieves increased power. Helio Breaker has arms that do the same, punching the release mechanism allowing you to build up more force before firing.
Oh man, I used to watch one of the B-Daman shows on Saturday mornings with all the other 4kids animes! I know I have the blue one the main character used somewhere in my house. Always used to lose the marbles :^)
I was getting too old for toys like this by the time these came out, but I remember them as the Beyblade replacements at the time. They mirror those earlier toys quite heavily, only with play that's a bit less intuitive compared to spinning tops. I do remember Beyblades quite fondly, though, so I'm sure these were fun for kids at the time, too.
This is the kinda stuff I come to your channel for. Around the same time (couple years earlier, 01 or 02ish), my brother and I were really into Medabots, which had the same kind of customization and collecting concept (and cheapness concept), but the B Daman marbles look more fun.
Here in my 27th, i just bought 2 dhb system from a local e-commerce, for the nostalgia sake. I have a plan to buy more, and give it to my younger brothers, they must try this awesome experience!
I honestly thought this was a super fun game, and really enjoyed it. Shame no one really caught onto it in my life. Had to convince my cousin to play this one with me Beyblades & Zoids were my intro into model kit making, but these things were probably my favorite to make. Very fun! May need to buy one for nostalgia purposes, even if its a Japanese one
It's good to do videos based on what interests you/is available. I knew nothing about this and it was pretty interesting. Although you showed Korean packaging when talking about the possibility of purchasing Japanese B-Daman, which was distracting. To me, at least.
Very interesting video! I saw your Ps2 games in the background and could tell they're PAL region games. I remember on Saturday mornings channel 57 the CW would turn into "the Kids WB", "the Vortexx", "Toonzai", etc. It changed a lot over the years. Lol! Anyway they showed cartoons, and anime on Saturday mornings! I of course watched Sonic X, YuGiOh, Dragon Ball Z Kai, Dinosaur King, Pokemon, Cubix, etc. I remember "the Vortexx" airing B-Daman Crossfire. I think I only watched it once or twice, and was just like it's not for me. I love how towards the end you mention Lego Bionicles! They were also a big part of my childhood! Great job, and great video!
You see that little plastic ring in the ball shooting area of the B-daman? Power types tighten that area, forcing a stronger push in order to get the ball out. Thus making a stronger shot overall.
this was a trip! so many times i involuntarily said oh my god out loud because of how many memories these cheap pieces of plastic brought rushing back. this, beyblade, and bionicle was the holy trinity way back when
The game boy game was my go to game for about a year straight!!! The customization was so good and there was a password you could put into the game to unlock chicken parts. I only owned one physical toy tho. I had wing ninja, and I remember watching the show every morning when it was airing lol
i found chrome zephyr and cobalt blade on ebay a few weeks ago and i couldnt resist but buying them XD i found another chrome zephyr with the DHB attachments and honest to god such nostalgia! bdaman was brilliant!
I had the same question about the power add-on as a kid, but as an adult I think the detents are made stronger so that you can put more pressure behind the ball before it's fired
godd i had so many of these in elementary school. a bunch of my friends were into them so we were always whipping out our new builds on the playground. good times. thanks so much for making this video, i completely forgot they existed lmao
maybe you know by now but whatever The shooting power of a B-daman is usually due to the extra pieces attached to either the front or the back. Basically these added tension/resistance to the "claws" to make the toys shoot harder
I also used the pins with three marble each to practice as well. Only glass marbles but with the power buckle and power wing it takes 2 to 3 hit to knock over it was fun training
In my childhood i never heard of B-Daman toys, i guess they were never as popular in my country as beyblades were. Some years ago i found the crossfire anime on netflix and watched some episodes out of curiosity. It isn't really good, but i don't know what i was expecting. Nice video!
@Tw1st3dG4m3r The original B-Daman anime talked about in the video never aired in my country, only the crossfire one. And from what i know it was never popular, the new season also isn't dubbed here. Beyblade on the other hand was a big part of my childhood and extremely popular, with every single season of the show aired and the toys selling a whole lot.
Aw man, I remember owning a few b-daman with those barrels that flip down when hit. I think I only owned two, and didn't own that mat thing to keep everything together, but I remember it being fun! And as an inverse of yours, I only had 2 b-daman, but had and still have all my old bionicles. Those were the bomb XD
Back in weymouth, my neighbors across the street, their kids (a good few years my senior) had a few of these. Apparently my introduction to model kits. Cool 🙂
B-daman has always been the most underappreciated of the weird toy battle stuff. I guess the thing you brought up was a concern, B-daman breaking has always been an issue simply due to how plastic flexes to fire the marble. Still they're super satisfying to fire, and now there's a small 3D printing scene, mostly in Japan. For the power aspect, it's actually an interesting topic because while plastic QC does determine power, the additional parts often add pressure to the "Hold parts" which are what fires the marble, some like Lightning Khan grip the front of the Hold Parts, while others like Cobalt Blade have a backpack that stops the Hold Parts from extending as much when shooting, which in theory creates more powerful shots.
Thanks for showing the battle b-daman I have a lot of the Battle B-Daman but I don't have the exploding Puck I always wanted to get that but it's very hard to find so thanks for showing that you are the first one to show that on RUclips and the sliding Loop is the first time I see that on RUclips the board game you have pretty much the same thing just a few different game that you can play and one of them was the sliding Loop you can see the image of that game like on RUclips images of it and the Beast you could find it it got a little expensive I should have gotten it when I had the chance maybe one day I will get it and the hockey game looks really good I remember seeing it in the internet years ago but I didn't get it but thanks for showing it again you are the first one to show that on RUclips I love Battle B-Daman and all the other B-daman series toys I really appreciate you showing us this thank you again love the video2😃👍🌟
Bruh, I used to have a Blazing Kahn B-Daman from the sequel, Battle B-Daman Fire Spirits. I remembered having some special B-Da ball called a Black Drive Shot and some plastic aesthetics that actually tightens the barrel for a more powerful shot. About the gun part, that came from Crash B-Daman. All I wanted as a more than 10 year old kid was a B-Daman that looks like a minigun.
Same! I always remember that one time I went to Walmart with my mom and wanted one so bad but she never got it for me. So now I collect Bdaman and Bottleman (Bottleman being the spiritual successor to Bdaman)
Wow, I never knew these even made it to the US! I have several Japanese B-Daman Gameboy games as I saw the Bomberman connection and love mecha games. Never got far in any because of the language barrier. I'd love to see you review the localized games (and Japanese games if possible) at some point!
For months, I was like "what was that goddamn anime with mini Gundam mechs and marbles?!" and found out it was Battle B-Daman, but wasn't entirely sure... and then I saw this video, and it unlocked a chest of vague childhood memories tucked deeply away in the recesses of my mind...
I remember B-Daman somewhat frequently for a very weird reason. My little brother took it upon himself to let his team from Pokémon FireRed wander all they way to my Pokémon Bank Account. (Yes, this is possible). How does that relate to B-Daman at all? His Nidoking from back then is nicknamed "Bull" after the character from the Anime with the three-way personality split. So whenever I see his Nidoking I think about this character and subsequently the show.
The power type B-Daman had a little brace that applied extra pressure to the little piece that hold the marbles in place, so when they shoot out, they're getting a little extra oomph from it.
I personally am too young to have owned the battle or crash B-daman series, but I still have some from crossfire and even a clear white Dragren from the sequel series. Oh and hasbro's verison of Roll=sasword (Lightning=Scorpio) and its upgrade Mach=Sasword/Scorpio, but blue instead of red.
I remember having all 3 of Cain’s B-Damans, sadly his final, Lord Cavalry never got a DHB Release but I had the full kit for both Knight Cavalry and Black Knight.
I remember when the toys came out, everyone wanted one. KB toys never had enough. I never got a chance to play the dhb but I remember loving the concept as a kid.
It breaks my heart that when I first moved out my mom tossed out all my bionicle, lego, beyblades, my old consoles and gi joe stuff. I would die of happiness if somehow I came across a pile of my old stuff xD
Sometimes i miss those days, School ended and my friends and i would run home as fast as our legs could go. I rann inside the house and grabbed my b daman 2 hand fulls of marbles say hi to my mom & dad and run back out the door to my friends place where we said we would meet. Man those days were great
The cobalt blade power wing does make it shoot stronger . And the power buckle on the lightning khan is what makes it stronger. I mained cobalt blade and added the power buckle to it and and the red dragons back foot claw for stability and the tail to get six marbals to shoot . The power wing and power buckle makes it harder to shoot the ball and can hurt if hit.
I remember seeing these sold in Poundland in the UK back in 2014 I think Edit: I just remembered it was the Crossfire ones I saw. I bought that blue one and I never knew it was anime merch but now that I know, I feel like looking for it again. I think I never got rid of it. I remember storing the two marbles inside of the target pin and I found it a few months back so now I just need to look for the B Daman.
I love this toy so much. I remember playing this with my classmates back in 2007. I had Cobalt Saber Fire and the Rensya Edition with the Blaster Cartridge. Oh, those were the days... I'll buy this again and hopefully, play it my best friend now that we're in our early to mid 20s. Nostalgia is such a bitch!
Yknow, that part about people in the anime taking their B-Daman being broken VERY seriously? Pretty accurate to real life now with how EXPENSIVE these guys are now... Ya might as well have used a hammer on a Nintendo Switch game. ^^”
the b-daman community is sorta still going on. There is a spiritual successor "bottleman" that released recent and some of us still designing brand new 3d printable b-daman
i remember watching some of the anime on jetix on the night for some reason, maybe they werent that popular on LA and also the bomberman snes game these look fun to use as a kid honestly
so i remeber watching the anime of this( was not even a into anime at this point in my life) on abc family at 5:00 or 6:00 am in the moring( school bus times were no joke) . i did not even know the toys. i never talk about the show with anyone so it was hard to remember the name for a long time .

The power booster makes the two things holding the marble in place more difficult to push the marble out making it more powerful or some shit im sure
this was a trip! so many times i involuntarily said oh my god out loud because of how many memories these cheap pieces of plastic brought rushing back. this, beyblade, and bionicle was the holy trinity way back when
I was born in 2003 before the original B-Daman but I watch B-Daman Crossfire which was pretty good .
IDK why youtube refused to recommend me this til 2 am when this is the type of content i sub for
I had the same question about the power add-on as a kid, but as an adult I think the detents are made stronger so that you can put more pressure behind the ball before it's fired
Man, i LOVED b daman. Still have all my stuff too.
godd i had so many of these in elementary school. a bunch of my friends were into them so we were always whipping out our new builds on the playground. good times. thanks so much for making this video, i completely forgot they existed lmao
maybe you know by now but whatever
The shooting power of a B-daman is usually due to the extra pieces attached to either the front or the back. Basically these added tension/resistance to the "claws" to make the toys shoot harder
I also used the pins with three marble each to practice as well. Only glass marbles but with the power buckle and power wing it takes 2 to 3 hit to knock over it was fun training
Those old video games was FLAMES Boiiiiiiii!!!!!
For power types the red peg things in the barrel are usually tighter. Thus more power. Helio breakers red pegs could be pushed against as an example.
Thank you for making me feel so much better about having been a kid in the mid-to-late 90s instead of the mid-to-late 00s.
me and my older brother used to love these although i wasn't good at shooting them i still liked how they looked
I used to build my own out of legos and finger flick the glass marbles from underneath them
Good times
Imagine naming the cool guy "shadow" character of your show "Michael Vincent"
The nostalgia hit me so hard bruh, thanks for sharing!!!
Power types tighten the plastic "c" shaped things to give more resistance when pushing the marbles
Thats what makes the shots stronger
B-daman ain't got nothing on the choking hazard that was crossfire. 😎
A FrameRater video introduced by LSuperSonicQ and on a topic that would normally be covered by Billiam?
YES PLEASE!!!
I own a few gun B-Daman (crash)
Me and my buddies were into these for at least 2 years back in the day, i even had that arena lol.
I wonder what a B-Daman would like scaled up from SD to HG 1/144 size.
Especially when they look like SD Gundams
My parents never bought me the toy. Now that I have adult money I might actually buy some of them
Same! I always remember that one time I went to Walmart with my mom and wanted one so bad but she never got it for me. So now I collect Bdaman and Bottleman (Bottleman being the spiritual successor to Bdaman)

Did you notice "Donkey Kong" in the Recent Wiki Activity on the right?
6:56 Hey I made it in the vid! Cool! 😎
Wow, I never knew these even made it to the US! I have several Japanese B-Daman Gameboy games as I saw the Bomberman connection and love mecha games. Never got far in any because of the language barrier. I'd love to see you review the localized games (and Japanese games if possible) at some point!
I legit just found my toys this arvo at my parents and came looking for what it was called. I really enjoyed playing these as my kids
Jetix 2005, anyone?
The more Jetix content I see on RUclips, the happier I get
I remember B-Daman somewhat frequently for a very weird reason.
I thought B Daman was so sick back then! I loved the toys and the series!!!
I remember having all 3 of Cain’s B-Damans, sadly his final, Lord Cavalry never got a DHB Release but I had the full kit for both Knight Cavalry and Black Knight.
Power types have wing pieces that cause tension on the firing mechanism which causes the marble to fire harder I think
Frame, I love that you cover stuff like this.
The anime series both look neat, though
I remember in Jr. High School seeing this on CN at like 6:00am before the school bus came. This and a BMX Anime that I forgot it was called.
The Gameboygame was fun. Relativly unique gameplay.
On the direct hit battle i trained to not move as much but counter hit the enamy marbles shot for shot
Those blue marbles looked so cool though
B-Daman! (We must be swift as a coursing river!)
B-Daman (With the force of a great typhoon!)
Sometimes i miss those days,
School ended and my friends and i would run home as fast as our legs could go. I rann inside the house and grabbed my b daman 2 hand fulls of marbles say hi to my mom & dad and run back out the door to my friends place where we said we would meet. Man those days were great
I had a bunch of b-daman back then, even the tournament set!
I remember seeing these sold in Poundland in the UK back in 2014 I think
Edit: I just remembered it was the Crossfire ones I saw. I bought that blue one and I never knew it was anime merch but now that I know, I feel like looking for it again. I think I never got rid of it. I remember storing the two marbles inside of the target pin and I found it a few months back so now I just need to look for the B Daman.
You may or may not have heard of Mecard imported by Mattel in 2018...
that seperate the boys and the men : Direct Hit Battle
**proceed to show 2 cat battling DHB**
I would say I miss mine, but my Cobalt Blade has stuck around all these years... can’t same for it’s power wing
I remember barely any toy stores carrying these and then they were gone off the shelves by like early 2007
Search Super B Daman you will be overwhelmed.
I love how the shooting figures look like mechas, thanks to b-daman I was get to into mechas and model lit models the years
Holy crap, I almost forgot about B-Daman. All I remember seeing was the toy commercial, I never knew it stemmed from Bomberman.
Yknow, that part about people in the anime taking their B-Daman being broken VERY seriously?
Pretty accurate to real life now with how EXPENSIVE these guys are now... Ya might as well have used a hammer on a Nintendo Switch game. ^^”
He was called "Gayboy"? XDXD
People like to put “jokes” in Wiki edits sometimes, especially since you don’t need an account to edit
"Well, this is gay. *coughs*"
~The Macra Terror, 1967
the b-daman community is sorta still going on. There is a spiritual successor "bottleman" that released recent and some of us still designing brand new 3d printable b-daman
I only saw a single episode, something about some kids making onion soup
i remember watching some of the anime on jetix on the night for some reason, maybe they werent that popular on LA and also the bomberman snes game these look fun to use as a kid honestly
so i remeber watching the anime of this( was not even a into anime at this point in my life) on abc family at 5:00 or 6:00 am in the moring( school bus times were no joke) . i did not even know the toys. i never talk about the show with anyone so it was hard to remember the name for a long time .
Dang, this is nostalgic. The game and the toys is so fun. I will forgot those days. Really appreciate Japan to create these good times.
I remember using plastic bottle as unlimited magazine for my Gill Scorpion 🦂🤣
