The Clash: The most underrated band in the century of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Called "Punk" in these days, today I mean it's called "Alternative Rock Music". Who else thinks so? Thx for upping this gem, R.I.P. Joe Strummer, we'll never forget you.
Definitively. Punk was the basis of their sound especially during their first two or three years, but their music always transcended the genre. They wrote many great songs and are very good musicians, on all three instruments (they also play other instruments, such as piano and harmonica), and they were also great singers, in their own right. They sometimes had excellent vocal harmonies, and Mick Jones played excellent solos and guitar fills, plenty of great rock and roll solos by Mick Jones (my favorite is 'Complete Control'). Both Joe Strummer and Mick Jones wrote amazing lyrics, and The Clash's lyrics are among the best in guitar-based music. These lyrics were always coming from the heart, and these musicians seemed to truly live their songs. They were and are heroes to many around the globe. You can often find comments on The Clash's videos that they were the next Beatles, and you can indeed notice many similarities between these two groundbreaking bands. Long live the Clash.
It's hard to understand what you even mean, but The Clash was, is and will always be one of the most celebrated punk bands in history. Not many punk rockers will say they weren't influenced by The Clash and the band's reach is superior to any other British punk band's reach by a vast measure and in every sense.
I read somewhere that The Clash went to Jamaica back in the day and this is about the trouble going on back then over there. Hence " ..... , don't wanna go back there again ". They've got the sun and they've got the palm trees. Look up the lyrics on Google this song is well written.
"I went to a place where every white face was an invitation to robbery - sitting here in my safe European home, don't wanna go back there again"" Yup, that is exactly what this is about. They went to Jamaica and found that no one there knew who they were or cared about their reverence for reggae music. They had a very romanticized vision of Jamaica in their heads and they quickly learned that it was not the reality of the situation.
@AK99581 Dreadlock Holiday by 10cc in the same year talks about the same thing. Some 45 years later I bet things are alot better there. There performance at the Olympics leaves much to be admired.

I sing this to myself when I travel and visit companies, and the trip inevitably gets frustrating. Sissy fund managers sitting on their butt in cushy NYC and London don't know the bargains and fun they're missing in places like Uzbekistan, Egypt, Argentina, Pakistan, etc. All probably safer now than these "global financial capitals." Thanks to Joe, Mick, and the rest for these 3+ minutes of joy and upliftment.

It just delivers at such a ridiculous pace. The intro, sure, but check out 0:41. Joe's into the second verse before the last line of the chorus has even finished. The ultimate exhilarating rock song, it grabs you by the scruff of the neck and doesn't let up for a second.

Thank you for sharing, young sirs

Nice Song !
Jesus Christ died for your sin
The Clash
Sniffin' glue with my best friends Baret and Dave.
This is a piece of my upbringing!
The Sex Pistols, The Clash, and The Ramones are the best punk bands.
And the Dead Kennedys.
you forgot the buzzcocks and patti smith group
IMHO The Clash and The Damned are gods.
It just delivers at such a ridiculous pace. The intro, sure, but check out 0:41. Joe's into the second verse before the last line of the chorus has even finished. The ultimate exhilarating rock song, it grabs you by the scruff of the neck and doesn't let up for a second.
Figthing man 💪
EYY new upload
Brilliant!
Top geezers !!
One of the Top 4 Bands ever.
