Omg. Bruh. This is BY FAR the best tutorial I've seen on this. All the other ones talk about transferring to another device like an SD card or external HDD. I tried those and I couldn't get it to work for some reason. I didn't even know you could just transfer straight to the internal drive. That is exactly what I installed the drive in there for! LoL. To load my sounds and any future sounds/expansions. I feel like I just found the last infinity stone to completely unlock my MP! 😂 Thank you so much bro!

@@davidcooke779 if the computer has a SD Card reader/Slot you can just put the card into the computer. If not you will have to connect the MPC One to the computer and put it into Controller mode.

Thank you so much bro, I spent $300+ on expansions only to find out I couldn’t drag and drop them the old fashioned way into standalone like you can do with the free F9 instruments pack, which is the only expansion I had installed up to that point. I was ready to throw my MPC out the window cause I thought I lost out on the money then I found your vid. Akai should cut you a check for doing their job.

Nice one pal. Alltough it took me a couple of hours to work out this one: this will only work for the expansions. The VSTs Like The Wub, Hybrid, the 809, hybrid etc... Although these show on the list, you cant transfer these as they are VSTs in their own right. -Shame as these are the ones I wanted for stand alone. -Just thought I'd share that in case anyone else is scratching their head...
My apologies for not mentioning this in the video. I will note however that as of now it could very well be possible that Akai will port these VSTs to standalone in the future.
Keep it coming another great video. Question have you been able to get the sounds generated in the 809 plugin ( when you pull up the 809 icon you can hit on the pads in the photo and their way differant than the ones in the regular pool area of the plugin) to map to the pads?

No you cannot export plugins like that but you CAN use the AutoSampler to turn plugin patches/sounds into keygroups that you will be able to use in standalone.

Thanks for the vids!! Quick question. How can you search expansions in standalone according to instrument tags such as bells , piano 808s
there is not an extensive tagging system as of yet. You have to tap on the Expansion in the browser then type what you want in the search bar (808, Bass, Piano, etc)

Does this work the same with VSTs like Fabric XL that I have bought on my PC but need to put it on my MPC X. I mean I guess I can try and see myself, but you are pretty helpful. This is the second time one of my searches led me to your videos. So, thank you for that.
@@cedricjamesjr1 no it does not work the same for VSTs. In the case of VSTs you have to login to your AKAI account on your MPC X in standalone in preferences under the ACTIVATE PLUGINS tab. If you are not logged in you click login and scan the QR code will your phone. Once logged in you should see plugins listed and you can download and install them there. NOTE: AKAI only allows plugins to be activated on two machines.
@GhettoStyles So I bought the Sonivox Film Companion bundle and it only seems to let me use it on the PC vs the MPC X. I don't know but it seems like you should be able to use it on the X.
@@cedricjamesjr1 Traditional VSTs do not work in standalone. Sonnovox will only work in controller mode.

Hi, thanks for the videos. Could you please help me out? I tried this for the optional Legacy Expansions (the 809, bank, noize, wub) and i got nothin. I tried it exactly like you explain it plus other ways. when I get to the export window, I can choose my ssd drive in the mpcx but there are no options for expansions for export. I also have no idea how to get the sonivox and 2 sets of air stuff onto my mpcx for standalone. Please advise. Thanks.
The instruments you named are all standard VSTs and do not work in standalone at this times. It is my hope that they will be converted to standalone now that we have plugins that can run without a computer.
this is great. I find it weird a bit though that you cannot access the internal drive ?...I just got the MPC live 2 and when I connect to a computer I cannot use any of the sounds that came with it.
I don't recommend using the internal built in drive at all. You can use the same sounds that come with the MPC that are built in but you have to download and install them from your Akai account. It is optional downloads but very much worth doing.

What about packs that don’t have an exe file to add to the beats software? I have a pack that has several sub folders and won’t simply drag to my usb 🤷🏽♀️
Are you trying to use those packs inside a Standalone MPC? If so you can just drag that folder to your MPC SSD or SD Card location.
If you are trying to use it with the software you can just navigate to where these folders are located on the computer or drag and drop the samples into the software.
If you want to turn those folders into MPC Ecpansion packs you need to use the optional Expansion Builder to do that.

This will work with any MPC from the Live and up. I show how to use expansion packs a bit in my MPC Beats video and I also have a few videos on a cost friendly expansion I created called BlockSquad Fresh. Feel free to check those out.

I know this is an old video but I'm struggling with these expansions. I'm following your video but some stuff just won't export. So take Hybrid 3, it shows up in my expansions, but when I click export it's nowhere to be found. Also I have a bunch of VST/AUs in the store, are these limited to the MPC desktop software only?
You are probably doing it right but Hybrid is a VST. Those do not transfer. Only expansion packs will transfer over. Although this video is old this particular process is still the same.
when i bring up my export menu my new plug ins arent showing like the 809, the bank, the noise, etc howd you get the come into your tools?
All expansions installed in the software should show up. If you just installed them you might have to restart the software. Also FYI you cannot export plugins. Only expansions.

It’s possible if your particular phone has an SD card. Then you can transfer that to the MPC. Might be hit or miss depending on the quality of the phones cell and WiFi capabilities.

Sorry for just seeing this comment. If you are using a SD card to store all of your sounds yes it should have been in the MPC.
Thank you for the info, question: after one has successfully transfered to the mpc hardware for stand-alone, how difficult is it to uninstall from the the computer? I just purchased a mpc live 2 (June 2022) and it comes with so many downloads, I need to save space on Drive C, also it looks like there's NO way to choose a different drive for the initial installation (content) on computer, don't want to deal with the so called "symbiotic" method either, got enough sounds/samples/presets, etc. with my Cubase, Halion, Native Instruments, Elektron. thank you very much again!
It’s fairly easy to do. It does have an uninstaller. Just be aware that only the drum expansions will transfer. The plugins that come with it will not. The plugins like the Riser or the Wub only work in the computer. Also note that while the main software can only be installed on the C or home drive the expansions can be installed wherever you choose. As an example ALL OF MINE are installed on a 2TB SSD installed inside my MPC.
@@GhettoStyles hello, thanks for replying, i did not realize the expansions could be installed on non-home drives, thanks for the tips. The amount of extra expansions/content that comes with the initial MPC Live 2 purchase is staggering, lots of extras, i got it because of the near linear based sequencer, 999 bars per sequence, been frustrated with the Roland (lack of bar length) or Elektron (4 bar patterns syndrome, etc.) Maschine is rock solid integration w/DAW but NI's MIDI pretty weak, etc. Although they all sound fantastic, I need a linear sequencer for my work flow/composing, yet want an alternative to a computer/DAW, hoping the MPC will rock my world, Akai's legendary, eh? thanks again for your time!
@@freejazzbone I believe the MPC is a powerhouse you can install expansions on a different drive you will just have to browse to it manually and it will not automatically show inside the MPC browser. It will work though. The MIDI in the MPC has been much improved with a ton of flexibility but it still has its flaws because it cannot route MIDI from one plugin to another just yet. It can control a crap load of external devices though and the ability to use third party audio interfaces is a big deal also specially if you happen to have something big. I believe it supports up to 32 inputs.
Just new to mpc , bought mpk mini mk3 and now i know a bit how it works i want to buy mpc one+. But i was wondering how to transfer expansion packs from mk3 to one+. So if i want to buy a 3rd party pack for on mpc one+ , this is the way to do it ? I assume i can not buy it via mpc one , once i bought it ? Sorry if its a dumb question, like i said im new to it . If you have expansions that you have already purchased this is how you would get them on your new MPC. IF YOU GET A MPC DO NOT USE THE BUILT IN STORAGE. Get a SD Card or an external SSD drive.

Hey I have a question, I bought a MPC live secondhand and it has a bunch of drum kits and instruments on it but I can’t transfer them to my computer version of the MPC software do you have any tips on how I could transfer the drum kits and instruments?
All MPCs come with 10GB of drum kits and sounds built in. If you purchased the MPC software those sounds come with it as well. They just need to be downloaded and installed.
If there are sounds other than the default sounds on it you can transfer those using a SD card. If it has a HDD or SSD installed then you can access it by connecting it to a computer and putting the MPC in controller mode.

Yes. You can do it the same way or you can download the standalone version of the F9 and add it to the SD card manually
If I have an expansion (F9 expansion) loaded in my MPC One with my thumb drive or the sd card, if I remove it, will the expansions still be in the MPC One, or does the thumb drive or sd card have to stay in the One at all times? I have my thumb drive in with the expansion on it right now, but I don't know if I can eject it or not? Thanks...SBN RESONATE
Great question. The MPC One does have a small amount of internal storage but I do not recommend using it because once it is full the MPC WILL HAVE PROBLEMS WITH MEMORY. As far as the thumb drive or SD Card it must be connected to the MPC One in order to use the expansions. Those expansions will not be accessible if you remove the drive and the MPC One is the only one where an internal SSD cannot be installed so either thumb drives or SD Cards are your options.
I am very new to it, so sorry for nobby questions. What’s a controller mode? What file system is supported for the sd card or does the mpc formats the card?
The MPC has two maid modes. Controller Mode allows it to connect to a computer and Standalone where the MPC will work under it’s own power. The best supported format is exFAT, and yes you can use the MPC to format an SD card but most already come usable.

VSTs outside of the ones built in cannot run on the MPC in standalone currently.
My (read only) is only showing up but now the “MPC ONE”. Can anyone help me?
If you have a sizable SD Card you can install it to that then put the SD Card in the MPC One.
Can you do the reverse if you lost everything on your computer?
You can copy it back to the original location from the MPC hard drive or storage location or you can connect the MPC to the computer in controller mode and navigate to your expansion folder and access it that way.
@@GhettoStyles I went ahead and pulled them from my MPC and created new expansions and it works fine. Just drag and drop from the expansion folder on your Mpc to your computers builder and were back in business. You should make a video on this, no one has yet!

once you've transferred the expansion to the hardware, can you uninstall from the computer?

Yes unless your computer has a SD card reader. If it has a SD card reader you can just put the SD card in the computer. If not then YES YOU WILL HAVE TO HAVE THE MPC CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER AND ALSO IN CONTROLLER MODE with the SD card inserted.

Please can someone help i just cannot install the instruments on my MPC One! I can install instruments but not instruments like the Wub which ive downloaded. I can get them in MPC software but not onto standalone. I can find the folder on my MPC but I cant open the synth or its sounds!. Thanks
Those plugins do not work in standalone at this time they only work in CONTROLLER MODE.

Do you have a video on how to download expansions or drumkits from 3rd party into the MPC software or standalone
If it is a proper .XPN file you just drag it and drop it anywhere on the software and you will get a popup to install it. For standalone you put it in your Expansions folder.
Also if you drag and drop it into the software you can always use this method to get it into standalone as well.
Some 3rd party expansions are not properly formatted and don’t show up in the expansion list. If that is the case to use it you have to manually browse to the location.

@@thahomie773 on the MPC go into your browser then select PLACES then go to the drive where your expansions are then go into your expansions folder. You can also access them that way.

@@thahomie773 I would format the SD card on a computer but you can do it in the MPC also. A computer will do it faster. If it is formatted you exFAT it will work on a Windows Computer and Mac. As far as expansions I would install those on the installed SSD Drive but DEFINITELY NOT THE BUILT IN DRIVE.
How do we put the Mpc one in standalone mode
Menu button then tap the computer chip icon in the top right of the screen. In standalone that icon will be a computer screen.

I finally figured out how to get the expansion from the inmusic website. Now I’m tryna figure out how to get the ones you can pay for? Any idea. 😭
What format or extension do the files export as? I need wav or mp3 flac or aiff
Each Expansion will export an Expansion folder containing a [Preview] folder containing all .wav files, Possibly project data folders, the actual projects and demos, and every sample included in each drum program/keygroups are included in .wav files.

If you are talking about the old retro instruments they cannot be installed at this time but that could be subject to change in the near future.

Please help me out because I’ve had my Mpc 2 live for 9 days and been trying to get expansions to export to my ssd drive to start using my Mpc and Akia dosent even answer back I’m kinda sorry now tht I even brought this thing it’s really frustrated bro please help me out I’ll cash app u to show me how to get me running bro. Have you installed all of the included sounds and expansions on your computer? There are a lot. The VST sounds will not transfer to the MPC. The sounds that WILL transfer are the expansions that include drum programs and keygroups. The easiest way to make sure you transfer everything you can is make sure they are and checked on both pages or click SELECT ALL at the bottom. If it still says you don't have expansions installed I would first say that you might need to install everything. I believe the MPC comes with 4 expansions off of memory the biggest of which is THE VAULT 2.0.

@@BEASTBEATS700 The expansions that are transferrable are as follows if you have the MPC Live 2: The Vault, Essential Instruments, EDM & Future House, The Bank, Trap & Deep House Drums, Essential Sound Libraries, Factory Content, F9 Expansion Pack, and Sonic Boom.
There is a ton of stuff that comes with the MPC if you take the time to download it all and it comes with more than this but these are the ones you can transfer to the MPC to use in STANDALONE.
can you instal the expansion into the internal memory?
Are you referring to built in storage or and added SSD or SD card?
You can add some of it to the built in storage but it is only about 6GB and I highly recommend against using it because the MPC WILL start having proof the built in internal storage is full.
I highly recommend using a large SD card or added internal SSD for this process.

@@Metroplex313 yes you can but again I recommend using a internal SSD (1TB preferred) or a large SD CARD. 256-512gb
@@GhettoStyles i have already an ssd 500gb installed. but i thought thats for projects and recorded samples. and the internal memory to fill with sample expansions
@@Metroplex313 no sir. That is to save your projects and files but ALSO your samples and keygroups the memory/RAM determines how many samples, keygroups, and plugins you can run at the same time.
If you have 500gb SSD installed that should be more than enough to hold ALL of your expansion packs.
what is with -read only- files showing up, why do i keep getting this message? Am i using the right flash card SD Ultra Plus?
It’s possibly the way the SD card is formatted or you have the write protection switch on.
I’m using the exFAT format for my MPC SSD and SD cards.

@@Infiniteinsightsmedia I’m using a Mac also. I used the Mac to format it. Also now that I know you are on a Mac if you don’t select the correct drive it will default to the MacHD drive and give that read only error. I have done that a few times by accident.

I’ve done everything exactly how you did but it has not transferred to the mpc live itself every time I switch it to standalone mode thinking that everything downloaded to the device it will not have any trace of it being done

@@N8shakeandbake Are you making sure to select the correct destination drive? When you export expansions to standalone in this way the expansions will appear in the expansion folder but also in the expansion browser
@@GhettoStyles yes I am it brings up my sd card and I click that, my dongle price does not have a sd card slot instead I’ve done all of this with the sd card plugged in the back of the mpc live 2
Do I need to have a dongle that has usb and sd card slot?

I did this and when I plugged it out they still won't show up ? They exported to the mpc it took about 20 mins but when I go standalone mode their gone
Did you make sure to select the correct drive? I would double check because it might have sent it to a different location.

@@GhettoStyles I just plugged the mpc in with the USB searched for the pc and then went to export the expansions to the hard drive option..it only gave me 2 options I assumed hard drive was for the mpc itself...I tried the other option and it said the destination of the file was wrong ? I don't know if I have a hard drive on the mpc installed all I know is I tried a hard drive i had lying around and the drop down arrow for the hard drive destination just gave me two options it didn't even recognise the one I plugged in ...I have no idea what I'm doing ha
