    Every day more incredible and ridiculously huge projects emerge from stormworks.
    And it's exciting.

    The reason the ratte can enter the water was because at the time no bridge was able to carry the insane weight of it due to its armour and battleship main cannon and many other guns

  • @WarDolphin
    @WarDolphin Год назад +12

    You should get a whole bunch of people to fully man the ratte and put it against other tanks and even planes

    • @steeljawX
      @steeljawX Год назад

      If the game could handle it, sure. But planes would be its downfall. That's one of the main weaknesses of it. It can't run and it can't hide and air dropped bombs only need to land "good enough" to work.

    At the moment the Maus was going into development many German engineers read the room and proposed even bigger tanks to the German army, or in special to Hitler himself as he had basically taken over the reigns of the development programs. The Maus never got to the battlefield and the King Tiger had severe problems with mobility, but there were even plans drawn for bigger tanks than the Ratte. To equip those tanks with proper guns they looked into naval guns. One design that was developed was the Schwerer Gustaf railway cannon, but that is basically an artillery gun. Meanwhile the English rejected the design of the TOG 2, which would also classify as a heavy tank, as it was considered too much to be derived from WW1, and new doctrines had developed between the wars.

  • @flimby872
    @flimby872 Год назад +4

    Correction, the Maus had two prototype *hulls* made and a single turret

    • @steeljawX
      @steeljawX Год назад +2

      I call it 1.5 prototypes built since those are essentially the "two halves" of most tanks.

    • @jugganaut33
      @jugganaut33 Год назад +1

      Technically there were 6 hulls
      The V1 maus. Prototype hull
      The V2 hull and Turret.
      Krupp also had an order for 5 further V2 maus hulls. Of which 3 were completed, then scrapped.
      Then there was 1 e100 mock-up.

    When I found the Ratte I saw it has a way for water to drain. So then I added stuff for it to be able to move in the water as it could already float. Now me and my friends have used it multiple times in multiplayer against AI and its great.

      Ha ha ha. That'd be amazing and amazingly laggy. 10 Rattes fully staffed (at least drivers and gunners and loaders) vs the Yamato, Iowa, and Bismark builds also on the workshop also fully staffed. A clash of lead like Stormworks has never seen at 1 frame every 3-9 months.

    Why you'd need this in real life in an Army is just ridiculous. A well placed bomb would do the same job. Whether to destroy it or to do its's job instead.

      Back in those times, you could just about get any idea kickstarted by "Hadolf Itler" by just adding the following after your pitch of an idea.
      "And it will also have a massive gun capable of knocking out any allied armored vehicle that it meets."
      I mean the Schwere Gustav got green lit and built and did you really need a massive artillery gun that could only fire some 15 shots before its barrel had warped beyond safe usage and required a crew of over 300 to lay the track for it, build it, load it, fire it, maintain it, and lug the ammo for it? Wouldn't a Heinkel HE 117 with a crew of 5 and a bomb payload also be able to deliver the hurt? But "Hadlof" probably had a temper tantrum about how it's not a big gun and that it doesn't strike fear into the enemy soldiers. It just sounds like he may have had a complex about big guns.........

    Why would there be an airlock.....Frantic, name me one bridge in all of Europe that a Ratte (at a whopping 1,000 tonnes) could possibly cross without it leaving ruins in its wake and an impasse for all future vehicles behind it trying to cross the same gorge or river. If it cannot go over the river and through the woods, it will get to grandmother's house by going through the river and over the woods. Also keep in mind that's supposed to exclusively be limited to rivers, creeks, streams, and springs and not lakes, seas, or oceans. But the Ratte was never supposed to be fast as there was never a practical engine for it. Also, if you could manage a multiplayer session with that an 9 other people, you could have a 6 v 4 situation of 6 of you manning the Ratte and 4 in WWII fighter bombers just to demonstrate the folly of the Ratte and other lumbering rolling forts such as it had.
