Hey, Gemma!! Im a guy and starting to like cross stitch. Where can i find Downloads for patterns to use on pattern keeper? I noticed a lot of patterns are girlie, and im interested in more guy-type patterns. Thank you!!
There is a list of supported pattern designers here:
patternkeeper.app/supported-designers/
I have found Artecy has a really good range of different kinds of patterns and they are all fully supported. I also like how well their patterns are indexed which makes it easier to search! Hope you find something that appeals to you!
I wish I could give you several likes for each video. You and the Stitchy Witch (Carla) are my favorite. You tell such good stories while Carla is so soothing to listen to.
Oh my gosh, I thought I was the only one who doesn't like to get up for their credit card! LOL! That was so funny.
I have a bread machine that my mom gave me one Christmas but I dont hardly use it because my husband is a diabetic. I wonder if my sons will like homemade bread this winter. I dont wanna cause anyone to gain alot of weight but I also dont want the machine to just sit and not ever be used again. I also think that the oven heats the house quite a bit more. I turn the air conditioning to pretty low temps when I gotta cook a big meal in the summer just to keep it comfortable in the house. I hate being hot.
I never thought about what you said about watching tv. I guess thats why when I was a young girl I had friends that their parents either wouldnt let them watch tv or limited the amount of time they watched. I now understand why the parent would say "TV rots your brain". I thought it was because of the cartoons....it actually was because their brains werent being active. Im glad you brought this up because I never understood it until now.
Beautiful work, Gemma. I am jealous of your weather as we have had 10 days of 100 degrees plus with no end in sight. Worst beginning of summer in 27 years. I might crochet a blanket in those vivid colors.
This is so freaking cool. I knit lace and that takes patience but what u r doing is on a whole diff level of patience. It's beautiful ❤️
Cool! I knit as well and have made some lace before 😄
I so enjoy watching ur videos. I was wondering how hard is it doing a HAED ??? I’ve been stitching for two years and I think it’s time for me to try a full coverage. What company do u use to get ur kits ??? Happy stitching 🧵🪡❤️
No matter what, it’s just one stitch at a time! I don’t find HAEDs more difficult than other full coverage designers. I highly recommend using an app like pattern keeper, it is so much easier than paper, I will never go back.
I only buy the pattern as a PDF, I gather the materials together myself.
I've been marveling at how fast you stitch. Do you keep your needles threaded?
Yes when I’m working in an area I keep them threaded, easy to just pick it back up again
I was wondering how long a thread you use when you start a new thread colour. As I see you using loop start 99% of the time, what do you do with the double stranded threads that you cut off that are too short to fold in half? Just get rid of it? Or would you use that double strand to do a confetti ?
Yes, I do loop starts for confetti as well.
I cut my threads around 33” so they are around 15” when held double. I save any leftover threads that are long enough to use again even if it’s for a single stitch since there are always scattered stitches throughout the pattern that don’t need a whole long thread. If I have some strands that are too short to fold in half but still long enough to use I will use an away thread method rather than loop start.
I have a thread card for each color with a slit in it to hold leftover threads until I have a place to use them again. I show this in this video here:

@@gemmastitches thank you for the explanation! Follow up Q, what is away thread method?
@@sho803 I show it here in this video starting at 3:42

@@gemmastitches super helpful! Thank you!
What do you use to hold your work as you stitch?
I use a qsnap in a clamp stand. I have a video showing my setup here:

Looks great Gemma ❤
