Yes to Halloween new start every day and for taking along for the ride with you! Great to see all your latest stitching and thank you for the shout out! Happy Stitching xx
Wow! I can't imagine someone not wanting a handmade shawl. I guess it's better for people to be honest than giving it to someone who won't appreciate it. Love all your vintage kits. Hunting down vintage kits is a secondary hobby of mine.😊 thanks for the video!
I'm so behind in watching flosstube, but just watched your video this morning while getting kids ready for school. You've had so much progress on so many different needlecrafts!
Great to visit with you, Jen! ❤ Thanks for sharing your stitching with us ! I'm really feeling the whole Halloween-not-Christmas vibe in July right now too.
I love your shawls! Omgoodness. Hndmade stuff/gifts are the best imo, but of course not fir everyone. Gorgeous wips and i love your lil plushie finish!
Yes…I will sure watch your Halloween start every day in October plans! How fun…I love Halloween & have 4 Halloween WIPS right now. Might need a few more. 😊 Love your projects…you are amazing with young kids doing so many different crafts!
ohh wow that's going to be so exciting if you start a halloween project every day in October! 😍 The fact that you already have enough patterns for it is also life goals haha! Thanks for showing your beautiful projects Jen! ❤
Hi Jen! I also have DMC in a variety of storage forms - stitchbows, bobbins, floss drops, baggies of skeins. I really want all of them together, but it’s such a daunting task! 😅 Fully finishing your yarn is such a great feeling! It seems like those little scrap balls multiply on their own 😂 I also treat October as my “maynia” month. I start/work on a larger WIP every five days, try to finish as many smalls as I can, and make a special start on the 31st. I look forward to it all year, and I fully support your plan! So fun!! I had to go find that blanket pattern you are crocheting. It’s so pretty 🖤
I really want all of my DMC together too. Someday I might decide it would be less of a headache to just take the time to transfer everything onto floss drops... but not today! I'm working on a Sea Glass tee to use up every last bit of my giant hoard of ever-multiplying fingering weight scraps. I'm accumulating scraps faster than I can knit the tee! I love that you do an October maynia. I want to start it this year and then keep track of which project I started on which day so if its still a WIP, I'll work on it that day next year and if it's finished I get a new start on that day. That means I'm going to include my Halloween WIPs this year I think. I'm starting to gather everything and see how many I can kit up from stash, which is actually super fun.
Love seeing all your progress, especially Orbit who is adorable! I've made a lot of toys over the years and joining arms and legs is no joke, to say nothing of all those spikes! Very impressive... I also love the idea of starting a Halloween project each day in October - not for me as I'd be a wobbly wreck after two weeks with so many wips - but it would be great fun to watch and see all your choices. And cheer you on from the sideline! Kim ❤
I’ve got the charts picked and fabric assigned for all but 2 of them! I might end up starting a few between now and October and just including the wips on my decision wheel. Is that less crazy? 😂
I have the Jim Shore Rabbit Gnome!! :) I was at Midsummer stitch while visiting my mom! We joined one or two stitching tables, but then mostly just watched the classes... it was hard to engage in discussion with both of us joining from one computer. I hope you had a great time! I enjoyed it... looking forward to Jingle Ball! If you attend that one we should definitely try to say hi :)
I am going to try to make it to Jingle Ball for sure. I did see you and your mom briefly in one of the rooms, but I had a lot of interruptions while my kids were awake. 😂
I don't crochet but Orbit the Dragon reminded me of my Grandma who used to crochet cows, a little bit bigger than Orbit, and then crochet them clothes to wear!
@@jensfiberweb So they were like 12" tall and made like a doll, but it would be a cow head, obviously. There were totally different outfits! 😂 I specifically remember a pink ruffle dress with an apron, and a set of blue pajamas. She'd tie a small cow bell around the neck too, they were fun!
@@kyramcquary1879 I made a doll-shaped pig that is wearing a colorwork sweater (doesn't come off) and has a button down jacket with a hood that has holes for his pig ears. The coat comes off. I love him.
Another UK stitcher you might check out is Arleen Wild Stitching In The Fens. I just love her. She's relatively new. I believe she has 5 videos. I like the idea of all new starts in October
Orbit is so cute! Found you bc of bringoutyourkits (mine was Elizabeth's patchwork cow), it's fun to see all your stuff. And yeah, I don't wear shawls, but I can at least display them at my shop 😂 l keep knitting them anyway!
I love your idea about Halloween starts daily. Maybe start a week before 10/1 so you can then get a second day on some of your favorites? Your WIPs and FFOs look wonderful! I opted to knit in July but I have already dropped out of Stephen West’s MKAL socks. I am enjoying Casapinka’s shawl MKAL and later this week I join in to the Wooly Thistle Sock Sprint which is not a mystery. Enjoy the rest of July!
Oh I haven’t even seen the Casapinka one, I’ll check that out. I still need to finish my Stephen West mkal socks from last year. Contrast Blast I think they’re called. Maybe I should do a sock sprint for all my sock wips 😂
Love your videos, Jen, u r SUPER talented! Really like the frame u chose to ffo needles dance- it's perfect for it and really brings out the colors!! That mystery sal that looks like a bunny is super cool, too! I finally caved n started an Instagram cuz I was getting fomo and I saw ur progress there, can't wait to see the finished design!! I like the idea for Halloween starts! I think 1 a day might b overwhelming, but if anyone can do it u can! I have a Halloween pattern in my tbs pile, I should start it w u in solidarity! Lolol I just want to do ALL the sals and ALL the patterns 😂😂 Hope u r having a great time at midsummer stitch! 🐈⬛🪡❤️
I love Orbit so much 😍😍 He turned out so great! Loved your video as always - thanks for the great company this morning 😊 You‘ve got so many cool vintage kits - wow! It’s amazing to see what is out there 😍 Can’t wait to start „Halloween Quaker“ soon 🥳
I have one more suggestion for your unworn shawls. If you aren’t looking to trade or sell them, cancer centers and some churches are accepting shawls as wearable hugs for people in need - physical and emotional need of support. If you have smaller, decorative ones, you might try to sell them in a second hand store or a place that helps women get back into the workplace and need a wardrobe. I know there are places in bigger cities but I don’t know how you find them (other than when they have fundraisers).
Hi Jen~~Well done on your "Needles Dance" full finish; it's well suited to its frame. As well, way to rock the act of bartering. I have seen one other Flosstuber exchange charts in the same manner--would be cool to find there are more. Hope your son is better and that the remainder of the summer treats you well~~🌼 from the Midwest, US.
Ok I tried to save all my random commentary for one random comment of bullets at the end: - I think it would be very cool to watch YOU start a new Halloween pattern every day in October, though I wouldn’t be able to do that, lol - I’m glad to know I’m not the only person who has knit shawls and then gone…wait, what do I do with these now? (It’s one reason I’ve circled back to cross stitch - even if they aren’t on the wall they take up less space than my as of yet unblocked shawls, lol!) - see you at Midsummer Stitch :) no clue how we will all find all the people we actually somewhat know beyond the tables, but I’m going to trust the process 😂
I am overstocked with shawls for sure, but that hasn’t stopped me from knitting more! I still have a fair few as wips. If I don’t find you at midsummer stitch, I’ll send you a message on ig!
I give you a lot of credit for doing that crochet dragon. He is adorable but to sew all those little pieces in would drive me nuts. I made a turtle for the first time and I had to sew in the legs and tail of the turtle and it is really cute but I will never do that again because it was very hard for me to do. Your shawl is so beautiful. I think maybe starting a Halloween project once a week would be better then starting 31 Halloween projects. You could get more progress done on 4 than 31. I am just saying. I belong to Knit for Life and it is with my Church and we make shawls for the Hospice patients at the Hospital so maybe check your area for groups that Knit & Crochet things for the poor, homeless and Hospice. I love your Frog bag. Happy Stitching.
I did have to try more than once to get some of the dragon pieces positioned correctly! Definitely a “once in a while” sort of project for me. The organizations that I’ve found that take donated knitted items all want acrylic and I don’t generally knit with the synthetic fibers except for blankets that my kids will drag around the house. I would be happy to donate them to someone in need. I’ll keep checking. ❤️
Love your finishes! Orbit is adorable. I've just started crocheting so something like that is a bit beyond me still. Have you done a foundation single, double or half double crochet stitch? I've watched a tutorial but am not understanding it yet. I like your idea of the Halloween Vlog. If if you start one or two a week if everyday becomes to much. Take care.
Thanks! I have done a foundation row before to avoid chaining a ton of stitches and then trying to stitch into the chain. I don’t really remember the details though because I think I’ve only done it for one or two projects. Sometimes you just have to find the right tutorial where the teacher speaks your language!
Wow!! So much to say! I absolutely Love your FlossTube episode. I think that I will message you on instagram otherwise this comment will be hella long. 😂
Thank you so much for the mention and your kind words ❤️❤️❤️ I love your videos and never miss one, albeit I'm usually a couple weeks behind 😅
