Charlotte is a city in Mecklenburg County in the United States of America (USA). With 900,000 citizens it is the most populous city of North Carolina. Charlotte metropolitan area has a population of 3 million. Charlotte was first settled by Europeans mainly from Ireland, England and Germany in 1775. Before that the Catawba Indians lived in the area of Charlotte but after the first Europeans came most native Americans died of smallpox. Charlotte is the city where the Bank of America has its headquarter.
