Omg yes, emphasis on JOB-the JET Program, what I’ve heard and learned, is first and foremost a job. It doesn’t mean that those who are accepted aren’t going to have a fun cultural experience, but keep in mind you’re going to WORK.
i dont mean to be so off topic but does someone know a trick to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost my login password. I love any assistance you can offer me!
I was hired on JET many moons ago but I turned it down to go live with my then fiance. I ended up being an ALT 20 years later with a dispatch company and so far so good. I have also done eikaiwa of course, but ALT is nice work .
I have a friend that fought MMA in Japan. He told me he loved the smaller towns over Tokyo. He grew up in a very small town in Ohio, so I'm not surprised.
Yeah the JET program didn't work out for me this year because... *cough* placement. Yeah... Anyhoo this video is perfect timing because I'm going to start looking into my other options that I know will send me to the Tokyo area.
Is teaching kids in Japan really problematic? I want to teach kindergarten or elementary but I’ve heard bad things about groups like Yaruki Switch. Maybe I’m better off going the Aeon route
I plan to go to Japan with JET as soon as I graduate. Since applications are due December, am I allowed to apply during my final year of college a semester before I officially graduate? I am getting a TEFL certificate with my degree and don't know if it is okay for the certificate to still be in process while applying. Thank you!!
@@AllisoninTokyo thank you so much for the response!! That really eases my anxiety I was trying to hunt for a response everywhere online but couldn’t find anything😅
So where do I start? Did you prepare your savings for this opportunity? How do I know which age group I’m teaching? How did you manage your money? Also, if I’ve decided to be a part time teacher, would it be okay to find other jobs in Japan? Would you recommend it? How do you spend your weekends? Am I really a teacher or am I an assistant? The application starts soon. I really want to try out Tokyo. It’s been my dream to live there for atleast a year.
Public school teaching is the best with English Program in Korea. You get to go swimming, ice skating, and visit Asia for vacation. Try also universities for work Yonsei University, Korea Nazarene University in Cheonan, and Kyungpook National University.
So may be stupid question. When you sign with these companies, do they sponsor your work visa? If so, how do you easily find new work if your tied to that company?
Do you need a bachelors in teaching specifically or can it be any kind of degree? I want to do this someday but I don't know where to start haha, the video was really helpful :)
For TEFL: Definitely depends on the rest of your application and whether or not you think you're strong enough without it. But also it may not be worth it if you don't want to get any other teaching jobs after JET...if it's easy for you to get one I'd say go for it JLPT: No Japanese is necessary! Even if you don't have a certificate if you mark in your application you can speak some they will give you a quick test at the interview
💛You are very awesome life. Was wondering your major is Japanese in graduated school in Japan. •Teaching global's common language which is English in another country. annnd me. *^-^* 💛You are very awesome life.

I like the way you speak. It's clear so I don't need to turn on the CC.
I'm not native speaker.

Japan do produce high tech goods but they don't necessarily use those things lol

what would you recommend for someone looking for a 6-month stint in a city? I have a UK bachelors degree and am a native English Speaker (Canada).
Love the hilarious intros 😅
I really wanted to try the JET program, but I found out you have to be a native English speaker (which I’m not:(() I’ll find something else though
Just lie
@@kaylaaax6467 lol that’s impossible. They’re going to look at my papers.
Not a native speaker but you need to have a C2 level of English though (or proven high proficiency)

Yes, most people apply before they graduate college! You can still mention you're in the process of getting it :)

Can you apply before your degree is finished?
So may be stupid question. When you sign with these companies, do they sponsor your work visa? If so, how do you easily find new work if your tied to that company?
They do but you are not tied to them because in Japan the government sees it as the visa belonging to you, not to the company
How long are you planning to stay in japan
Definitely for 2 more years, would like to stay for at least 4 more though....not really sure after that 😰

Thanks to you,my soulmate and my Guiding Angels in Jesus name Amen.

any type of bachelors degree is fine!
@@AllisoninTokyo Hi! Do you know any alternatives for people who don’t have a degree yet?
@@arekkuson sadly if you would like to teach in japan you must have a degree of some sort :(
@@AllisoninTokyo can it be an associates degree?
@@freestyle_handsome wrong you don’t need one depends on the company and visa
