- History of Squaresoft, and a History of Final Fantasy. The History of Final Fantasy in its initial development was full of mountains to climb and valleys to cross, but so often the story is told in a brief passing, "Square was in trouble, they released Final Fantasy, and then they were a success." But wait! Why were they in trouble? What caused their impending bankruptcy? Why did Hironobu Sakaguchi want to leave gaming? In this episode of All Your Complaints, we take an in depth look at the company and the people it employed and how the climate that surrounded the young developers lead them to create one of the most influential games of all time. This is the most thorough story you'll ever hear about Final Fantasy. So, sit back and enjoy.
The writing, voice acting, music compositions, video editing, and overall producing were done by Joshua Drew. As a big fan of Final Fantasy, I'm very happy to share with you all my months work in tribute of this game and series. I live in Los Angeles.

where is part 3 ?
You did great! So much detail,such depth! I love it.
This second part is a big improvement over the first part. It covers much of the key details of Squaresoft's early history in detail. Well done on a great job.
For those who can't wait for Mr. Drew to release part 3, please understand that he is pretty much doing this on his own (well, I guess pretty much) which explains why it is slow. Also, he is doing his best to make it as detailed as possible. Remember those companies who took their time creating games? Their games are pretty much legends and sought after (for those who actually appreciate art, dedication, and passion put into making games)

Damn can't believe it's been nearly a decade since I first saw this video. A shame part 3 was never made. These would have been a great series and with the youtube revolution you would have been rich.

As someone who worked directly with Nick and other writers on AYH every week (and pushed really hard to both keep and expand the show while it was in its heyday), I really appreciate what you're doing carrying on the torch.
This was quite wonderful to watch. Props to Kotaku for featuring it. I always knew that this was the franchise that saved Square but to see how they struggled was definitely interesting. Makes me wonder if they weren't the mega company they are now if they could finally recapture the essence of what made these games great

Comparing this video with the last, I can already see a huge difference. You added more music variety and mixed it better, you made better visuals, you have much more detail, and is just better as a whole. I think this series will definitely be one to remember.

Guys, there will never be a part 3. Shame he tried to make all the follow-up episodes at once, instead of just focusing on one at a time. I imagine he got overwhelmed and put this project on the backburner, where it is likely to stay forever. At least we have this, which is still my favourite FF documentary ever.

I never knew the struggles that The Warrior of Light had gone through in the 80's.
thank you for documenting the history of the company who made the best RPG game ever made :D Final Fantasy is the game where I grew up. I started playing mario, battle city and other games but when final fantasy was introduced (the japanese version) I can't imagine if they could just make an english version, then boom the english version at my hand (7 years after I got my first final fantasy cartridge) :D til now I'm playing all the series all over again :D thank you so much for making this one!
