I am a Celtic man, but I can appreciate great talent. The man had a great left peg. There are many ‘ordinary’ players earning vast amounts of money who couldn’t lace his boots. Many of today’s players, particularly down south, have all the rewards but none of the success. Some of the guys going for £30m+ have never had a medal round their neck.

He told the staff to shut there mouths and told all of us to behave ourselves and he let us line up with the adults so we could get our shirts and pieces of jotter paper signed.

Davie Cooper was the epitome of true blue. That free kick against Aberdeen, 1972 League Cup final I think, Coop later told the story that, on International duty, Jim Leighton said to him, “you know, I nearly got to that.” “Aye” quipped Davie, “on the way back out!”

Special memory with 2 men I idolised my Father Dougie Douglas & Davie Cooper both RIP ,Skol Cup Final when fans were squashed in like sardines in Old Hampden Park .Lifted over turnstile, vision of green & white & Red White Blue scarfs ,flags held aloft a vision seen you’ll never forget Davie Cooper scores important penalty & gave me proper special father & son cherished memory . Even Cooper with love & hate relationship with Celtic fans was one of rare players respected by Old Firm enemy Fans Penalty Scotland got v Wales even diehard Celtic fans I personally saw screaming Cooper it’s got to be Davie Cooper & Scotland erupted bigotry put aside for special player .I’m glad Motherwell got to see BOTH Cooper & Russel show off their ability & exite Well fans helped Motherwell fans win Scottish Cup Talk about Cooper as Motherwell best signing but I’d say Tommy McLean pulled off double masterstroke each off equal greatness signings Davie & Bobby . Looking back you now realise just how good they both were & very humble men . THANKYOU FOR & CREATING FATHER & SON MEMORIES .

The free kick in the league cup final v Aberdeen.
I've just finished watching it a few times..And yep the power of the shot is stunning not forgetting how spectacular, what I noticed in re watching it a few times was how he suddenly ran up
and hammered the ball..He had saw the path to the top
Right hand corner and he sprung into life..Totally meant.
wasnt a sheer power shot.Accuracy..Man!.Absolute deadly intent.

From a Celtic supporter: Amazing talent. Absolute wand of a left foot and it’s a shame he didn’t win more trophies in his career (Davie I mean, obviously not the team lol), the era he played in was bloody awful and he should’ve tried his luck in England, he would’ve fit into the Liverpool, Everton, Nottingham Forest, Villa teams of the era no problem at all. Just goes to show he was a Rangers man through and through. Just interested in playing football, wasn’t bothered about money, flash cars, anything like that, only the love of the game. Used to talk to him in Hamilton, when he’d be walking his dog up the Bent Park as I’d catch him sometimes on my way to work, he was a really nice fella.
