Theres one more thing on the first venue: the concert is really on a basement and the red and blue lights only appear close to the end of the song. Those are the cops arriving because the neighbours called them to stop the noise
I would love to see some of the other games in the series and the Rock Band series. Especially since many of the later games have larger venues and have actual rock stars as characters in the game. Also The Beatles Rock Band would make a great episode because many of the songs have incredible dream sequences as the background
Fun fact about the strumming button: the two buttons you see are mechanical switches manufactured by ALPS! They were pretty common back in the late 80s and early 90s. They were the switches of choice for Apple as well! This all was way before Cherry took over the market.
Heh, I had the same thought. Quickly followed by Chyrosran22 yelling hhhhiiiideeeouuusss in my head :) I've never played Guitar Hero but thought the guitar's strumming control felt surprisingly good. I guess that's why.
I still find it bizarre GH1 has two songs locked behind Gameshark/AR codes. Kind of a bummer since Trippolette (shown at 5:00 during the "fretboard analysis") is one of the most fun and difficult songs in the game.
no way!?!? , been a fan of series since the start and still play from time to time and never knew that. Do you know what songs they were or why they locked them out?
@@DougSalad I was thinking that! I do know that in-game camera hacks may yield better results, but guitar hero is a rather basic game so it shouldn't need to hide too much. Especially for the Wii version! :)
I hated the shit collision detection in that game. They added a driving mechanic where you could go everywhere, but I remember a few spots where you would stop on a dime colliding with geometry or hit boxes that wasn't even visible during gameplay and you were driving on a large and flat area.
This was a fun little one! I never really thought to look into Guitar Hero, but it was actually pretty interesting! I'd seen the inside of a Guitar Hero guitar (mainly because I have taken them apart), so I'm glad it was just a short segment. I hope other people liked that segment, though! Without thinking about it controllers can be a bit magical, but pulling back the wool and getting a deeper understanding of how things work is always cool. As always, great video Shesez! c:
The dark backgrounds, colorful lighting, and lower poly models remind me of the "Indiego-Go's" band from Zora Hall in Zelda Majora's Mask that came out just 5 years earlier.
I've wanted Guitar Hero for *YEARS* and we're finally getting it! Here's hoping we get more Guitar Hero games in Boundary Break in the future! I left a comment on one of your videos 5 years ago talking about the exact thing you showed at 2:08 too
I would love it if you did more of the Guitar Hero games. Metallica would be a good one since it has better graphics and all kinds of models for the band members. Heroes of Rock has all kinds of cutscenes with weirdness going on, the "final battle" where the characters summon the god of rock to fight a giant robot and then ride said robot in the next level. Would make for a great episode of Boundary Break i think.
I just recently got to finally play Superliminal and think it's a great candidate for an episode. Being able to get alternate angles to break the perspective illusions and other visual trickery in the game would be really cool to see
Never played the original Guitar Hero but this was a really neat episode. Didn't realize the series started on the PS2. I appreciated the little look into the guitar controller itself too.
i cant believe you boundarybroke a guitar out of the game and then boundarybroke a bondarybroken guitar the amount of work this channel do is mimd breaking
Man the nostalgia is hitting me...Every high school party I went to back in the day there was guitar hero setup. Awesome to see behind the scenes of it all.
I been waiting for a guitar hero boundary break video for a long ass time got a few others on the list. Would of been cool too see the rest of the venues
Boundary Break but it takes apart the inner workings/creative style and techniques done in all forms of inner workings of everything from technology, to how factories are actually run on the inside, to what brush stroke technique was used in a painting, ect.. Then we get meta with it.. Boundary Break showing how he makes his Boundary Break episodes - from what this man does on his computer screen, what kind of soda he drinks during editing, what time he gets up in the morning to write, to what thought was bothering/inspiring him that affected a certain decision... Then he does the same things but in greater detail with subjects/ideas that inspire him and then that inspires other creators to breakdown the things they really love/know about and then soon enough we're passing down information, creativity, and knowledge in a totally fun, new, interesting, and different way.
These scenarios have a surprising amount of detail for background elements. Also surprised the fretboard could be distorted like that and isnt just a png put ontop of the screen
I love love love these games. I've been replaying them all non-stop on my PS2 since finding one, basically in mint condition at a flea market back in 2020.
Madden. Literally any madden. I know the people who dont like madden REALLY dont like madden, but I think it'd be great content because of all the different stadiums.
That was a lot of fun, I wonder how the rest of the series fairs. Also - I did check for the OG Deus Ex but didn't see it covered yet. I know that would be an awesome episode that surely has a lot of weirdness to explore (especially if you pull in the PS2 version as well if possible)

Man you gotta do Warriors of Rock man. I think that’s the one where you have to take this badass guitar from a stone as 2112 By rush plays. So many cool scenes.

something i would love to see from game developers is releases of the shaders they made or used in these kind of games … lots of games especially on older generation consoles had amazingly complex shaders that people try to replicate or reverse engineer to understand how they pulled a look off, but sadly never as accurate as the OG as the OG shaders cannot be extracted easily or at all.
Consoles that launched before the Xbox didn't use shaders as we know them. Instead, their hardware had specific sets of features that devs used creatively to pull off all kinds of special effects. Emulators like Dolphin are able to accurately "translate" those effects into shaders that work on a modern PC, but I don't know if anyone has tried porting those converted shaders into a modern game engine. Many of the effects back then were based on frame buffer manipulation: taking a picture of the scene (or of specific elements, like the audience members in GH), optionally adding effects like blur or distortion, and converting that into a texture that can be used on anything- flat rectangles to represent the audience, or a Jumbotron screen to capture the action, or a water surface to show a distorted version of what's behind it.

Guitar Hero used to be my game when I was younger. I still play it in the form of Clone Hero but my controller is busted to the point where it's virtually unplayable. They really need to re-release Guitar Hero with modern songs, current gen graphics, bringing back the gameplay that we love and not going overboard like they did with Live; as cool a concept as that was, it just wasn't Guitar Hero for me. Thanks so much for reintroducing me to my childhood. My younger self appreciates this. ^^
@@streetxjammingdualxscreens9228 That and Clone Hero and other stuff like that is certainly awesome but it's really getting quite hard to find a controller that actually works for a reasonable price, it's the proprietary hardware that's making it difficult.
