Mòran taing Suzanne! We would recommend keeping an eye on the LearnGaelic website, where there is information on classes and opportunities to speak Gaelic through the Course Finder. There’s also a Find a Class section on the SpeakGaelic website. The Gaelic college Sabhal Mòr Ostaig run distance learning courses where you would have opportunities to practice your Gaelic. We’ll look to answer your question in more depth on one of our upcoming SpeakGaelic Extra podcasts, available on BBC Sounds and other audio streaming services!
I tend to appreciate any resource for learning Gaelic, but people who are trying to learn a language are usually trying to do so quickly and efficiently. Five-minute human interest interviews with people in English don’t help anyone to learn Gaelic. It’s a wonderful show to introduce Scottish culture, and for that it gets high marks. But I think _Speaking Our Language_ is better for actually learning the language.

With SpeakGaelic, we hope to educate our viewers, listeners and users, but also to inspire people to take up an interest in Gaelic and to learn about the Scottish Gaelic learning community in the present day. We understand your point, but would just like to make you aware that the video you have commented on is from the first series based at level A1, which is for foundation learners - people who are new to the language. We’re currently working on the third series which is based at level B1 and a lot more Gaelic will be heard in this series, both throughout the programme and in the interviews. Taing!
Duolingo is good for quick learning although not problem free. I use many resources for different reasons myself. The interviews are helpful to persuade an English speaking audience that Gaelic is of enduring cultural value to a diverse set of people and that learning and speaking the language is not an unachievable or unreasonable goal.

Good work enjoyed that episode. Is there a reason why it's dealanaich agus tairneanaich (lightning and thunder) where in English its the other way around?
Mòran taing Kenny! Tha sinn air leth toilichte gun do chòrd am prògram riut. It’s more interchangeable than it is in English - you will also hear “ tàirneanaich is dealanaich” in Gaelic as well!
