Put the Hawaiian islands
keep it.. other things to worry about... like freezing prop taxes for residents, or how about getting rid of income taxes for residents who make less than 75000.
High property taxes driving seniors out of their homes

Why can’t the island just have the rainbow and the classics along with any “new” design as a choice? Personally, I love the Rainbow simply because of the location the Hawaiian islands are in the Pacific Ocean. It has that “One With God” feeling when you look up after the rain (and it’s always rainy), and know that in the midst any disruptions (problems), you can over come it. It’s a heartfelt symbol, a symbol of HOPE. 🌺🌴🫶🌈😇

It will be awhile, just like the rail. Maybe 10 years from now or more. A few millions will be spent just for the design, then a few more after the public's feedback for a final design, then someone will be fired for the bad design with a few more millions spent for the severance pay of the person who just got fired for the bad design, then more millions for a redesign. By then it will surpass the cost of the rail.

Yeah let’s spend millions replacing something that isn’t broke. Who retires at 30 anyway? Certainly not most of the locals who’ll have to pay for it!

I was so happy when we bought our new car in 91 and got the Rainbow plate. Left Hawaii a few months later and came back to the mainland. Those plates are proudly hanging in my garage.
Those new picture plates are Ugly!
The city and state facing major problems, focus on solving them before spending more tax dollars on a new plate design. I seen several states with no design, what's wrong with that? And, with a new design will come added cost? How much are we going to pay? Why change something that's not broken? Fix the things need fixing first.

Shit nevermind about the license plate design. Put that effort into catching all these illegal out of state cars that are not paying Hawaii car registration fees. Why should us locals be paying for these immigrants?
Are you aware that military family cars do not pay registration like all of us? I paid $400 last year, military only pays $25 a year. Something is not right with this. They drive the same roads as all of us. And, when you buy a car from a military guy, you gotta pay the "back taxes" of the full registration.

Outdated, decades or century old metal license plates on vehicles. Digital license plate options are on the way, Hawaii behind in Tech few decades.

The rainbow has to be the worst one ever. That darn thing fades in no time and looks old and ugly. Thank goodness they are changing it. The Hokule'a would be a cool one if it doesn't fade in a year.
