Once beat this game using only Bug Types. They improved them so much that it was honestly a delight. Restricting your options actually enriches the experience because it forces you to be creative.
I haven't played Radical Red since 2020, I didn't know they added all those things, last time I got stuck on the elite 4 and I didn't want to waste time breeding so I quit, I think I'll play it again from the start, that "perfect mons" mode looks amazing I remember spending hours just to get my decent team back when I played, time to try again :) Amazing video btw, sadly I had to stop it at 4:30 because I saw so many new things and I don't want to be spoiled lol, I'll come back once I beat it. I still remember playing this game for the first time 3 years ago knowing nothing about competitive Pokémon whatsoever, I rage quit a lot due to having no idea how my pokemon kept getting killed instantly. On the recent version however I just completed a mono fighting run which surprisingly the easiest time I've ever had with this game, definitely gonna replay when the gen 9 update drops
Yeah, I agree with you. My first time playing it was Mono Ghost, and I struggled hard against it. Now, I play through challenge runs so fast, I don't even need to consult the docs anymore. Fighting was the easiest too for me. There's just such a good selection to choose from
The clips in this video is like a fever dream. Im usually used to these sort of videos being more clean and less bombarding with meme presentation at you. Obviously though if others like the presentation i hope they continue to enjoy it but its not for me because the stimuli overload just makes me stop focusing on the video altogether

The only issue I've got with this ROM is the amount of PC box space. I'd love to start doing a living dex, and collect more shinies, but as of right now, it's just impossible.😔
@@crackwagon8513 Pretty much "Just wodering for future updates if it would be worth expanding the number of PC boxes for new Pokémon introduced/creating a living dex/shiny hunting for more of them" etc and so people were basically laughing me off the forum, because battling is the top priority and that no-one cares about expanding the PC boxes. If anything, it would also help with raising competitive teams with different mon's :/
I love how the most difficult thing for me in this game was the mandatory boss battles south of Lavender town and West of Celadon City. The damn Galar Fossil always whittled down my team 😤
Yep I am playing through this game for the first time and I have struggled a lot due to the DraStic change in difficulty but I do Jenny love a the increase in difficulty and the increase in options you get to handle the game and fights one thing I will never do is a Nuzlocke. I've tried and for me having to handle all those calculations and come up with really strict strategies before big fights is just not fun for me hats off to people who like doing this on RUclips it's enjoyable to watch but I like to strategize but still have some fun and getting a bunch of Pokemon to strategize around
The video is great! I agree with your take on gym leaders needing to be a challenge that takes a few tries and proper strategy and not a cakewalk. Strategy was so annoying to me before. I always wanted to just plow through the game and enjoy it but I got incredibly annoyed that I couldn't go past various gym leaders like Misty, Surge, etc. Then I realized the fun in the game IS THE STRATEGY. Since my perspective changed I started to care about the pokemon in my team. I can't just shove the pokemon I want to use without thinking about type coverage, etc. Now I'm on a new run for 4.0 that I managed to get from Brock it Erika in 3-4 hours. On an unrelated side note are you from MY or SG? Because that accent is so familiar. I'm from MY myself

I really enjoyed Hardcore up till the Elite Four. Every fight required you to engineer a team that answered the threats on their teams. The Pokemon League is 5 consecutive battles, the first two can have 2 different teams, and you have to somehow come up with a team of gimmick mons that can answer the incredible threats only if you play the AI into making certain moves. I ended up finding someone else's team and followed the turn order as close as possible. Even that team leaned heavily on Scarf Togekiss Air Slash Flinch. I played it on Normal unrestricted next, and it was wayyyy too easy. I slapped a sun team together and routed them in one try. Hardcore unrestricted would maybe be more exciting.
Elite 4 is kinda of eaziest if you remind yourself that unlike in early or mid game here you have access to every item and even all of mega stone and lots of options to choose from and few legendrys
I don't find that items really tip the scales in your favor when the opponents have permanent terrain/weather and mons like Swords Dance Zacian Crowned, Calyrex Shadow Rider in Psychic Terrain, Primal Groudon, and Eternamax Eternatus. It's not impossible, clearly, but the challenge is significantly greater than anything prior.
That's precisely the issue I have with this romhack. Hardcore becomes "use this exact team, or lose" and it's ridiculous. Then You drop the difficulty down, and you can sleep through it. Difficulty in pokemon is an air castle, and this game wears it on its sleeve.
having played this rom hack, i can confirm that this is defintely a compettive pokemon hack my team as of the elite four is Delphox (Starter) Aegislash Salamence Slaking (probably the worst choice i could've made) Heracross Florges also FUCK that first falker battle, i hate that damn Rufflet

Imagine it actually had difficult settings, level caps instead of applying your highest mon's level, exp share and text profiles to fix their worries about "cringe" cutscenes, when they're actually top tier. If not any of those, I'd want to learn programming so I could at least add a post game for that election which is seemingly only there for immersion and situation based conflict. I swear, that election doesn't happen even if I trigger the elite 4 special dialogue. (Beat it many times and the creator will assume you loved the game and thanks you for playing it.)

Im playing radical red now! I'm shiny hunting and playing normally! I got a few of my favorite pokemon too! Shiny shroomish, buneary, galaran ponyta, and pikachu! I can't wait to evolve them! (I need to wait until fuchsia to evolve shroomish and buneary for the egg move tutor and soothe bell!) I also used all of the in-game cheat codes to reduce grinding, because, for me, grinding isnt fun! I used the dexnav for all of my hunts! So my boxes look like they belong to an insane person:,)

I despise the split because i don't like types to be two things. Fire be special only, metal be physical only, etc is perfectly fine. I can adapt my team accordingly. Don't care for "balance" or "meta".
well if that was still the case then moves like 'fire punch' would be special and that's just too annoying for me to ration 😅, plus that line of thinking is why we don't get eeveelutions anymore :P

Im playing radical red now! I'm shiny hunting and playing normally!
I got a few of my favorite pokemon too! Shiny shroomish, buneary, galaran ponyta, and pikachu! I can't wait to evolve them! (I need to wait until fuchsia to evolve shroomish and buneary for the egg move tutor and soothe bell!) I also used all of the in-game cheat codes to reduce grinding, because, for me, grinding isnt fun! I used the dexnav for all of my hunts! So my boxes look like they belong to an insane person:,)
