My thoughts exactly. Hell, it wouldn’t surprise me if they got gone just before, or during, GOW1 - once they learned Kratos killed the Hydra, and Aries begins his siege of Athens, they’d realize Kratos is about to open Pandoras Box and set the downfall of Olympus into motion, making then the *last* best time to leave
Tyr in Valhalla DLC mentions the "years of rebuilding" happening after Kratos left Greece, perhaps Apollo and Artemis fled during the destruction of Olympus and returned after making sure Kratos was gone.
One thing we have to understand is that not every god was on Zeus’s side and didn’t want no involvement in saving Olympus mostly the minor or B-Tier ones. So most of them either hid very well or just fled but fleeing most likely due to the evils of Pandora’s Box going around corrupting gods.
I have a theory about where they are and what they are doing. Firstly, god of war has shown many Greek myths most famous locations, from The Underworld, Olympus, Atlantis. But one of this locations has not be scene and only mentioned recently in Ragnarok. And that is Troy. Apollo and Artemis were among of the gods who sided with Troy, and it’s a far bit of range of Greece that they wouldn’t be affected by Kratos. And funnily enough, a lot of the gods who sided with Troy weren’t killed in the game, including Leto, Eos, and Aphrodite, who was especially important for the rise of Rome. So my theory, Apollo and Artemis fled to Troy, where they redenuvue with any gods who survived and are now rebuilding the pantheon across the Mediterranean.
And then the Aenids happen, which gives birth to Rome and the roman interpretation of greek gods. With Rome established, some roman characters can take part in future God of War stories, taking place in Celtic and Egyptian Mythology, keeping Kratos's past actions relevant.
As I've seen a few other comments here, my theory is that the two saw what Kratos was becoming, saw what Zeus was becoming, saw all the pieces, saw the writing on the walls, and realized they didnt really care for most of their relatives all that much so they decided to just quietly scoot off to some place safe. They had never really helped Zeus and definitely weren't going to run to help Zeus, so they figured most likely they'd be safe from Kratos as he'd have no reason to come looking for them. They got out of dodge. They weren't so proud to think, "Hmm. That prophecy about a marked warrior. What if they got the wrong one?"
I think he fell victim to a powerful curse. The writers room. In all seriousness, it’s because everything GOW 2 became more planned out. The problem is Greek mythology has so many characters, you can’t fit them all. I think we may see some missing Gods in other games. Whether they hid from Kratos or like Tyr, went travelling.
Artemis is the goddess of the hunt and wild animals. Of all the Olympians she’s probably the best suited one for going on travels abroad like Tyr did. Maybe Atreus will run into his aunt and they’ll have a coop adventure together. She was supposed to have one with Kratos in Ascension but it was unfortunately cut.
I headcanon that Apollo had a prophecy of what Kratos would eventually do and he was already having problems with the rest of his relatives on Olympus. Let's be honest Zeus has always been an awful father to all of his children so Apollo probably decided to just screw it, let Artemis know and the two of them retreated to their birthplace Leto and have been in hiding this whole time while offering refuge to any of the mortals that escaped Greece during the chaos. Apollo eventually has another prophecy concerning Atreus and this prompts him and Artemis to come out of hiding to seek out Atreus after he left Midgard and offer to train him in their archery skills. I mean, I don't think it's a coincidence that Atreus' main skill in battle is an archer and two of the Olympians that Kratos didn't kill and were absent during his rampage were archers. I personally would love the idea that if Santa Monica ever comes up with a Atreus spin-off game, Apollo and Artemis appear and basically become his mentors and back up during combat. Atreus is on his own right now. He needs all the help he can get and I think these two helping Atreus would be a great way for Atreus to get in touch with his Greek culture while still going on his own path separate from his father.
This is a really good concept I hope they run with. Similar to Miles in the Spiderman games, establish a character, then flesh out their story in a spin-off game, to build to the next main chapter
I can see this being the good plot if we return to Greece in the next game because we know not every god that was minor or B tier was killed. Some either escaped or hid well from Kratos and had no involvement in saving Greece because let’s be honest Zeus was a dick to everyone so they would have no reason to help him stop Kratos.
My headcanon is that Apollo, along with Artemis, Aphrodite and some other minor surviving gods, just moved to Rome and mingled with their pantheon. My idea is that Rome already had Jupiter, Mars, Juno etc., who at the time were fairly minor, as far as global divine geopolitics were concerned. The surviving Greek gods came and tried establish a Roman pantheon that would be a worthy successor to the Greek one, and the Roman gods were willing to accept that if that meant increase of their own prestige and influence. Artemis and Aphrodite took on new names, Diana and Venus. Apollo, for whatever reason, kept his name. And the native Roman gods were syncretized with the deceased Greek ones.
That’s similar to my theory, but in the opposite direction. Considering Aphrodite, Artemis and Apollo are all gods who sided with Troy and the fact we’ve never scene god of wars version of Troy, I think that’s where they are.
@@dylantennant6594 I'm not sure that works. There is a dialogue with Mimir in Ragnarok, that strongly suggests that Kratos at some point participated in the Trojan War (and that he prefers Homer's version over what actually happened there). It's unclear to me whether Kratos was there during his "Spartan warrior" days, "service to the gods for redemption" days or "god of war" days, but I doubt he was there later than GOW2, so by then Troy must have already fallen. Walls of Troy is also one of Ascension multiplayer maps, but I don't know anything about how that mode works, whether there is any semblance of plot, and if yes, whether it's canonical or not.
If the next God of War happens, and it will happen, I can imagine like if you're minding your business in the wild and all of a sudden you spot someone, not an enemy, as you turn a corner. You're like "how's it going, mate?", only to realize that the guy you're talking to is, in fact, Apollo, who may or may not be lost, far away from home and giving a excuse to start a side-quest or something like that.
Funny enough, I think Apollo was one of the few Gods that were punished by being forced to work for a King as a servant for a number of years until his punishment was done. Zeus was also notorious for inflicting banishments on the Gods where no God was allowed to associate with the God that was punished. It would have been nice to see OG GOW apply those punishments, but oh well. It is what it is.
Maybe Apollo was hiding somewhere where he knew/felt Kratos wouldn’t find him. Or even think of looking for (a last place fail safe hiding spot) him. Then after the events of God of War 3 he eventually resurfaced. He decided that he was safe and rebuilt Greece. Besides it would track with the continuity provided us with God of War Valhalla when Tyr. Specifically mentioned after talking about how Kratos actions with ripping off Heilios head. That despite nearly destroying all of Greece. It was rebuilt despite the damage caused to it.
We know there are still other gods that exist in Greece that Kratos didn’t kill. They either just fled to avoid being corrupted by Pandora’s Box and avoid Kratos’s wrath or hid very well until things blew over because not all the gods liked Zeus.
As someone who likes GOW Ascension, I think that it definitely deserves second chance. In the form of either a Remake or remaster. Also Artemis was originally going to be in Ascension as a lion centaur, but because her design was to hard to animate she was cut off.
I can't express how much i love ur god of war videos especially the old ones U keep on giving the old games the love and respect they deserve Much love from lebanon ❤
What you said about the gods losing their sacred weapons, technically Kratos has possessed Poseidon’s Trident since GOW 1 which is why he can breathe underwater and had it all through out GOW 2 and 3, kinda surprised Poseidon never had a problem with that and wanted it back
If I were to wager a guess, Apollo and Artemis fled Greece together, but parted ways somewhere near Rome. Artemis fled westward, Apollo fled north by northeastward.
Apollo saw Kratos's acension and was all like "fuck dis shit I'm out mhmm, fuck dis shit I'm out no thanks! Don't mind me, Imma just grab my stuff exceptmybowforsomereasonI'mjustgonnathrowthatinPerithous'scell and leave, s'cuse me please"

I was writting an idea for a Deimos spin-off game where it explained the lack of Apollo/Artemis presence and I was thinking that it would be a cool idea for them to show up in a future project that talks about Roman Mythology
The missing statue in Ascension multiplayer appears to be Apollo According to myths Apollo is stronger than Ares and was able to his own against Poseidon and Hercules albeit he was weaker than them. In the GoW comics Kratos used the Flame Of Apollo to kill a Hecatoncires, which are stated to be above most titans and comparable to Atlas and Cronos. He is basically Tyr of the Greek Games, you dont see him and he is actually very powerful and among the strongest, although weaker than the top tiers Apollo is still alive as of GoW1 ATLEAST as Hermes talks about him in the GoW1 novel saying"He is pretty but boring"(Hermes is bi and incestual) Its possible that he either left or got killed by Zeus in his paranoia
It would be pretty cool if in the next God of War game, Apollo comes to hunt Keaton’s down for murdering the pantheon. I know we’ve just had Valhalla and Kratos moves past the Greek-era killings, but I think it could be an interesting thing for a newly anointed God of War/Hope to have to actively deal with, rather than just mentally move on from.
My theory is that when Ares imprisoned his Oracle he also killed Apollo. Which would explain why Artemis would help Kratos in GOW1. After Ares was killed Artemis either left or was killed ofscreen by Zeus. Who killed her because Kratos Hadn't really done anything to offend her and he thought she might help him again.
Captain Kuba has 2 videos on this theory as well. He concluded that Hades, Ares Or Zues might have killed Apollo. Or that Apollo was operating under a different alias "The Healer". As in the god of war comic which Kratos retrieves the Ambrosia for his daughter. His given a magic ability called the flame of Apollo by a mysterious hooded figure called "The Healer". According to the God of war wiki this is Zues in disguse. In order for that to be true it would mean Zues killed Apollo. For how else would he have Apollos power the flame of Apollo and able to gift it to Kratos. Meanwhile captain kubas theory is that the healer is Apollo who was exiled. As according to Greek Mythology Zues was able to make him mortal Also, in the first video captain captain kuba made, u can see the first pinned comment is from Bruno Vilascaz, who commented that Apollo was supposed to be in God of war 3 but got cut from the game. And all that's left of him is his bow and the outfit. Also, God of war ascension was supposed to be a co-op game. Where you'd be able to switch between Kratos and Artemis. There's even concept art for Artimis. Seems she'd be able to transform into different beast states as she's half human half animal in the concept art. As we know that didn't happen as God of war ascension is a solo game. Most likely due to the fact that the director for that game focused more on the multiplayer side than the actual story. That's why the ascension storymode seemed broken and unfinished in some parts. With bugs and glitches etc. So they wouldn't have had time to create Artimis character and implement a co-op mode while creating a multiplayer mode. Time just ran out Hope this helpt somewhat.
There's also Apollo's green fire ability in the "Wager of the Gods" comics, where Apollo also doesn't make an appearance, but is tightly tied to the events, through his son Askleipos's Ambrosia being the central McGuffin and the before mentioned green flames being gifted to Kratos. Fun fact: The green flames are a runic attack and counterpart to the Leviathan Axe's "Blessing of Frost" in God of War 2018 and offer healing for each strike of the of Blades of Chaos.
Maybe he saw, what will happen and traveled to north mythology. Someone told them about what happened, because some know stuff about Kratos and what he did to the gods.
True but Apollo is one of the more bizarre ones cuz he was clearly an important figure in the Greek games even if his role wasn’t as big but he most likely escaped or hid from Kratos when he was destroyed Olympus. We know not every god didn’t help Zeus. Who knows maybe we’ll see him in future games.
In the future I would love to see more beings living outside their original realms, Kratos, Tyr and Mimir can't be the only people to ever travel beyond their homelands.
In Rome with the other surviving Olympians resurrecting Zeus (oh sorry, Jupiter) along with the other gods Kratos killed and are preparing for their march into Germania to seek revenge.
Plot twist, Apollo, the prophet, is the puppet master behind all the events. Using Kratos as his weapon to eliminate any competition, to one day become Apollo, The God.
Given the fact that both the Greek and Romans have a god named Apollo they could have fled to Rome and joined that pantheon like Kratos did with the Norse pantheon
2:30 Kratos isn't based on mythos Kratos. The devs weren't aware about the existence of mythos Kratos until years later. In fact, he isn't based on any mythological being until 2018 were it was revealed on the mural that he's Farbauti. Who is in Norse mythology the father of Loki.
Honestly I think this video brings out another topic - where is Artemis? Kratos actually interacted with her, got her blade so we know she actually "exists" exists so where is she? Also we haven't actually met Apollo even though he's mentioned x times so the writers could actually say he's dead for some reason. Or maybe he left because he saw the doom of Olympus coming.
An interesting detail to note is that while Helios dies and the Greek world is thrown into darkness the moon and sun never actually go away. The sun is covered by clouds and the moon is the only real source of light in the darkness
Be cool if we saw both Artemis and Apollo old like Kratos, maybe implemented in the next game. Like Kratos maybe asking for forgiveness or something.... Just random thoughts
What about Dionysus? Why couldn't we have a drinking contest with him? Jokes aside, in the myths, Dionysus is a surprisingly capable warrior - not nearly on the same level as his siblings and uncles mind you, but more so than expected, having held his own/pulled hisbown weight during the Gigantomachy.
The Egyptian gods: “He killed Zeus’s brat son, Ares! We should get a beer with him sometime.” The Canaanite pantheon: “Listen, we already have situation involving an angry War God intent on making himself the only god, so no thanks.” The Roman Pantheon: “Explain to me how exactly this is a bad thing?” Lovecraftin pantheon: “He sounds like a decent meal” Hindu Pantheon: “The man you described sounds a lot like people we know.” Australian Rainbow Snake and Sky Father:”You two must be pathetic deities who come from a whole bunch of pathetic deities for something like this to scare you, because this isn’t scary.”
Probably not for a long while, they just put out the valhalla expansion which has quite a bit to do with Greece, that's all I'll say just in case you've not played it or seen it but it's safe to assume that for the foreseeable future, kratos will remain around Scandinavia until atreus returns. Now eventually atreus could wind up there somehow and it could force kratos to venture out to get him back, who knows
Apollo is either the smartest or the most cowardly god in the GoW pantheon. proof? he's arguably still out there. like Bayverse Starscream once said, "cowards do survive"
I could believe they were just bouncing all ove the place to ahywhere where kratos wasn't, just to get.out of the way, and then returning to try to salvaje something of a civilisation. If they were to meet atreus may be they could train him a little, just to avoid angering Kratos
Apollo is the god of roads? well all roads lead to Rome so... ;) , but really, in roman mythology he isn't renamed, unlike the rest of the Greek gods. Maybe there is a game where he makes a deal with the Roman god Janus (who is the god of gate ways and new beginnings and one of the only roman gods who doesn't have a greek counter part) to revive the greek pantheon as their new roman incarnations to fight Kratos once again?
Personally i think God of War Ascension is a good game. I think people hate it because it doesn't have as much magic/items as compared to God of War 3(bow, boots, wings etc). Another reason why I thunk people hate it is because of the rage and parry system. Some really powerful moves are locked behind the rage meter, so you have to hit enemies in quickish succession to get those moves. And the parry system is harder than in God of War 3. However, its still a good game according to me.
All this work ruined by GoW Asgard. In the dlc Helios back handedly thanked Kratos for saving him from Atlas. Thus making Helios and Apollo the same person. I know the Greek era had plot holes but come on. We saved Apollo in Chains of Olympus and hear him speak to Athena.
@@LUAN_JAGUAR which are you talking about? Chains of Olympus or Asgard? If CoO it is Apollo, the subtitles explicitly say so. If Asguard Helios says that he was the one saved from Atlas. Asguard says that Helios and Apollo are the same person.

He fell down the funny long Olympus stairs and died, mate. This should be common knowledge by now.
Cool vid
Love the smell of Bacon in the AM
Maybe he saw, what will happen and traveled to north mythology. Someone told them about what happened, because some know stuff about Kratos and what he did to the gods.
Theres missing Gods in the norse games they cant put every single god in each mythology in the games
Cool vid bro.😺
In the future I would love to see more beings living outside their original realms, Kratos, Tyr and Mimir can't be the only people to ever travel beyond their homelands.
In Rome with the other surviving Olympians resurrecting Zeus (oh sorry, Jupiter) along with the other gods Kratos killed and are preparing for their march into Germania to seek revenge.
Plot twist, Apollo, the prophet, is the puppet master behind all the events. Using Kratos as his weapon to eliminate any competition, to one day become Apollo, The God.
So Apollo just "noped" out when he sawn kratos kill ares lmao, got ya.
Given the fact that both the Greek and Romans have a god named Apollo they could have fled to Rome and joined that pantheon like Kratos did with the Norse pantheon
Imagine if Apollo returns in a new game
Let's hope we see him!
there's some myths where Apollo would go "north" and becaome another god, like Tyr or Odin.
Apollo left to live on Pollux IV as seen in the Star Trek episode Who Mourns for Adonais. 🤣🤪

Kratos isn't based on mythos Kratos. The devs weren't aware about the existence of mythos Kratos until years later.
In fact, he isn't based on any mythological being until 2018 were it was revealed on the mural that he's Farbauti. Who is in Norse mythology the father of Loki.
He's just chilling on that planet that the Enterprise crew finds him on in The Original Series. 😂😂😂
Kratos *exists*
Apollo and Artemis: Adios
Honestly I think this video brings out another topic - where is Artemis? Kratos actually interacted with her, got her blade so we know she actually "exists" exists so where is she?
Also we haven't actually met Apollo even though he's mentioned x times so the writers could actually say he's dead for some reason.
Or maybe he left because he saw the doom of Olympus coming.
Well, if they didn't have time to include everyone I'm glad they left out the one with the most plausible excuse for not being there
Maybe Apollo will appear in a future game. I'd love to see it.
Apollo didn't want no smoke with Kratos
Do you think you could make a video on what would have happened if Ares opened Pandora's box instead of Kratos? What new powers would he have gained?
An interesting detail to note is that while Helios dies and the Greek world is thrown into darkness the moon and sun never actually go away. The sun is covered by clouds and the moon is the only real source of light in the darkness
I’ve always believed that Apollo and Artemis GTFO after god of war 2
Can you do some videos on Deathstroke please
Never heard of that game.
@@TBP it's not a game he is the baddest and coolest assassin in comic book history from the DC universe
Be cool if we saw both Artemis and Apollo old like Kratos, maybe implemented in the next game. Like Kratos maybe asking for forgiveness or something.... Just random thoughts
there is a two part video series made by Kaptain Kuba where he theorizes what happened to Apollo, I'd recommend checking that one out
He overslept
To involve Apollo and Artemis in a game with atreus SIMPLY because they all use a bow is the dumbest thing i think ive ever heard.
He was the Anti-Heimdall
What about Dionysus? Why couldn't we have a drinking contest with him?
Jokes aside, in the myths, Dionysus is a surprisingly capable warrior - not nearly on the same level as his siblings and uncles mind you, but more so than expected, having held his own/pulled hisbown weight during the Gigantomachy.
Wasn't he the hinted at being the Healer that gave Kratos the Flame of Apollo?
Maybe Apollo and Artemis took off to the other lands ruled by other pantheons to warn them about Kratos
The Egyptian gods:
“He killed Zeus’s brat son, Ares! We should get a beer with him sometime.”
The Canaanite pantheon:
“Listen, we already have situation involving an angry War God intent on making himself the only god, so no thanks.”
The Roman Pantheon:
“Explain to me how exactly this is a bad thing?”
Lovecraftin pantheon:
“He sounds like a decent meal”
Hindu Pantheon:
“The man you described sounds a lot like people we know.”
Australian Rainbow Snake and Sky Father:”You two must be pathetic deities who come from a whole bunch of pathetic deities for something like this to scare you, because this isn’t scary.”
Aaaah the sound of bacon
My comment will be out of topic but does God of Wars have a chance to go back to the Greek Mythology God of War?
Probably not for a long while, they just put out the valhalla expansion which has quite a bit to do with Greece, that's all I'll say just in case you've not played it or seen it but it's safe to assume that for the foreseeable future, kratos will remain around Scandinavia until atreus returns. Now eventually atreus could wind up there somehow and it could force kratos to venture out to get him back, who knows
He's not the only olympian that was missing by 3. There's his sister Artemis, Dionysus and Demeter.
Plus Hestia and technically Morpheus
Apollo is either the smartest or the most cowardly god in the GoW pantheon. proof? he's arguably still out there. like Bayverse Starscream once said, "cowards do survive"
Would be hilarious if Kratos went back to Greece and met with its current caretaker: Apollo, the god of everything (Since the others are dead)
He was ment to be in gow 3 but they had to cut him do to time and money
He should debut with Artemis in the next god of war
I actually loved god of war ascension still don't know why it was hated
Can't wait until Atreus goes to Mesoamerica and fighs Tzicotilmaukatiliocameztecpetzl
TL;DR Either cut content or SMS didn't know what to do with
I could believe they were just bouncing all ove the place to ahywhere where kratos wasn't, just to get.out of the way, and then returning to try to salvaje something of a civilisation. If they were to meet atreus may be they could train him a little, just to avoid angering Kratos
Apollo is the only god whose name does not change in the Roman naturalization of the Greek pantheon. So maybe he went to Rome
For the bacon!!!
He could make it he… died.
In Smite.
Maybe he went to the moon
When a game says a name 1 way and you say it differently im out
Maybe he's in Egypt
I'd much rather have Apollo replace Helios in the games, would fit better with the other Olympians.
Maybe in Celtic mythology
God of prophecy is nowhere to be seen near the god of war
Why did you censor kratos pp? I want to see
They probably ended up in Rome
He is there the entire time, just out of camera view. No matter how quickly you spin the camera around he is hiding out of view. Whispering....
Hot take, chains of Olympus is hot ass
Think he in prison really
.......
Del
Transgenderism?
at least Ascension wasn't right wing agenda like the newer games! Ascension is so underrated
@@gam3rtim352 Expect for, thats not the real Helios...Thats a Helios made from Kratos's memories.
@@therarebirdheavy9954 yes Kratos’ memories. Kratos was the god of war for a time. He wouldn’t mistake them like that. Honestly I wish Asguard didn’t do that. Apollo in CoO had a completely different personality from Helios in 3. But they are the game creators and apparently they know better than us.
