Correction at 2:20 the arrow has glitched!! It's on the West Coast of Wales, NOT Ireland!
Everyone's favourite place, the @TalyllynRailway1865 in North Wales, the world's first preserved railway and inspiration for many of the Rev.W.Awdry's The Railway Series (and Thomas the tank engine) as this is the twin of the Skarloey Railway. Many of us know why the TR is so beloved, but I hope this video will let you find out more about the line itself.
They celebrate their Founder's Day on 14th May, so despite being a year later than scheduled, here is part one of probably a few Guide Rail instalments on The Railway with a Heart of Gold.

The Talyllyn Railway is one of history’s most important landmarks for railway restoration
Rail preservation wouldn't exist without it
Been there four years. Still learning about the place. Such a rich and fascinating history, it's such escapism from the fast moving world around us. Been looking forward to this one for a long while, it did not disappoint. Cheers man.
I'm calling it now, this video is gonna blow up
oo... unfortunatly not
Although i struggle to not see the Skarloey when thinking of this railway (thomas brainrot) i understand a lot more about this line and its odd track gauge, well done again Max 👏
I really like the new Birds Eye view outro at the end
Nice work! I'd been looking for a video of this kind about the Talyllyn - very thorough, covering all key bullet points about the railway and its history. Some nice footage too.
Perhaps I'll see you at Awdry Extravaganza III!
Great video, Max.
Can you talk about the doom valley railway before they are evicted?
Awesome Video Max
I've always loved the Talyllyn Railway
It would be nice to restore the quarry and run the railway in there
I just love this Railway, it just has a very impresive history and a wonderfull line!
Cant wait for the awdry extravaganza im going this year its going to be fun
This was wonderful as always, Terrier! I always loved the Tallylyn Railway and its history.
Another great video! May I ask what music you use in the intro?
20:16 my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard
can you do a guid rail of the skarloey railway?
I dont know if you noticed, 2:20 but thats Ireland
Oh gosh!! That is a really bad glitch. 😂I didn't notice, thanks for pointing it out! It is NOT in Ireland.
@@Terrier55Stepney XD if I see you can I ask hi? At the awdry extravaganza
Is there an awdry extravaganza every year? We are planning to go next summer. We are in California, USA. Thanks.
There isn't a guaranteed one every year, the railway will announce in good time when there will be one confirmed. Certainly talks of doing something for the Railway Series' 80th anniversary year.
@@Terrier55Stepney when is the 80th anniversary?
Why does the engine whistle when it crosses the viaduct?
It's to warn anyone before heading across the narrow viaduct and through the cutting just beyond. Also alerts anyone waiting for the train as you can't see it approaching on the platform. ALSO just for a friendly greeting to anyone walking below or on the bridge above.
I’ve been on this.
in video at 2:21 why is the black arrow in Ireland? on the map
Ooops
Check the description
