- Patricia Louise Holte (born May 24, 1944)[1] best known as Patti LaBelle, is an American singer and actress. She began her career in the early 1960s as lead singer and frontwoman of the vocal group Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles. Following the group's name change to Labelle in the 1970s, they released the popular song "Lady Marmalade" which was later inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. As a result, the group became the first African-American vocal group to land the cover of Rolling Stone magazine and the first pop group to play at the Metropolitan Opera House.[1] LaBelle is referred to as the "Godmother of Soul". - Wikipedia

@@patgorden5002 Specifically, both the industry of American-concept music, & the economic trajectory of LaBelle & Patti LaBell’s careers, collectively & individually, as employed by the ‘industry’ they worked in.
Respected people who begin careers in the field of “Music” can often expect to see very different (& varying) economic results, according to their body of work & other factors.
I’m simply looking at the disparities, which are obvious to those who’ve noticed some individuals’ offered options in, say, retirement, consulting, executive board status, other choices.
Some entertainers are presented with options, “parachutes” or “fringe benefits” they’re called.
Sarah Dash predeceased her colleagues. Nona Hendrix/Hendryx did form a label some time ago, but the outcome & output escape me & seem somewhat obscure.
If you like LaBelle’s music & their apparent talents in the industry, their long experience in music, it does seem that they’ve been somewhat obscured by the regular standards.
Watching younger people imitating yourself for more money than you probably got seems like a dubious honor, imo. But many have also said that imitation is flattering to them & that it is enough thanks.
If so, maybe THAT is the reason record companies produce & monetize artistic content that is often more imitation than creation; & the original artists don’t matter as much as I think they could, given the choices.
It's no secret patti was completely robbed by the music industry, but it goes to show when your born to do something nothing in the world can stop it, that's why she's 78 and still gaining life fans, that's a true gift from god
