You got me further than the other 5 or so tutorials I watched, and actually helped me out alot. I was able to completely dissamble all moving parts without a a solder kit/iron or anything like that just a couple torxs drivers and a tiny flathead for complete disassembly. But u helped bro thanks.
Thank you sir, almost bought a new controller over the B-Button misfiring. Twas a simple need to readjust the button and rubber cover over the plastic button's rod. Still holding this Battlefield One Edition controller baby strong after 5+ years! Cheers!
The newer Xbox one controller with 3.5mm port is a little different. The bumper buttons don't have the little white bumps on them to make it easy to pop off.
Had my RB cracked, so when i pressed it, it didnt click correctly or at all, so i used the RB from my other broken controller and changed it, thanks for the vids man
Awesome! Glad it helped. I just bought a broken controller (it's really just the LB button) so I'm going to do the same. Just pull an LB from the other controller (actually the controller in this video lol)
May I suggest you to make a video about fixing d-pad of xbox one controller? I have been watched a lot of videos on youtube and there are a lot of different ways that they tried to fix d-pad. Can you make a correct way to fix d-pad issues?
My controller: Left panel- "Oh, taking me apart? Yeah, it's cool man, lemme help you; *pop*" Right panel- "HOW DARE YOU VIOLATE THIS SPACE; NEVER SHALL I REVEAL TO YOU MY SECRETS *pinches finger*"
thanks for the video. Couldn't find the other 4 screws under the handles. think it would be possible to solder on rumble pack plugs like 360 controllers had?
Thanks for the video - really useful. We had a sticking RB, so I used this video to disassemble the controller to take a look. We have a 6 month old Xbox One. I noticed however that in my controller the number buttons were connected to the middle top section of the controller (the bit with the big Xbox lit button in the middle). So to remove the bumpers you need to lever off the middle part which releases both of the bumpers. Perhaps they've updated the controller slightly?
I'm going to put this out there: If you use a screw diver that is .5mm too small, you will strip the screws. BUT! After I stripped two of my screws, they fit perfectly with a 5/64 hex key. So, if you do strip your screws, try a hex key, it may save you a huge headache.
Also if you happen to wipe that grease off the dpad get a tube of white lithium grease it works great i use it in anything from these to n64 joysticks to ps2 disc trays and anything that needs grease
The right shoulder button on my Xbox One broke, but it's a different model from yours, mine has the shoulders both attached to the face plate that goes over the Xbox Button, as a result trying to glue it back down is...challenging at best. Thanks for showing me how to dismantle the thing though.
Hey I have one good side so I've been looking around for a joystick for Xbox One. There isn't one that's truly single-handed so I came up with what I think is a pretty simple design concept. I need help building it so I was wondering if you'd be interested in talking about potentially helping?
I hope this gets to you. good video by the way thank you what I was looking for specifically though was well I don't really know how to put it but what I'm trying to do is take apart the controller and safely use a Dremel to separate pieces and build them into a gun for House of the Dead and things like that and I wonder if you have a tutorial for keeping the Bluetooth intact I don't know how that works.
hey my bumbers seem to be different than yours... it's not a lunar white controller it's the black one that came with my Xbox one... is there 2 different styles? if so can u help me out? I only need to fix my left bumber
Could I cut the circuit board in half and run wires through the severed lines? I am working on a project where I would need the parts to be spread out over a couple feet...
I had a small black rectangular piece fall out that I'm not recognizing in videos or able to identify where it came off. Can anyone help? Can send pics
In the beginnig of the video is thier a name for that whole piece, cause imtrying to order a replacement for all of that in one, is their a name for that?
The first time I ever played an Xbox 1 I played forza, and instantly noticed the triggers have not only rumble but slight force feedback as well when the ABS would kick in on the car
Its not dangerous chemicals really in lead free solder its basically just tin. And for lead solder you just need good air flow like a fan or a open window. If people go lead free they wont need to worry about it cause it be safe. I use nothing but lead free solder if need or use lead solder i turn a fan on its all simple stuff if not inhaling lead solder
Hi, any chance you know how to remove the springs and pins on the Xbox One controller's triggers? I noticed you left them attached and I need to replace one of them as the spring has snapped.
Yes, the grease on the plastic is very important folks. I wiped it off and once I put power back to the controller it imploded and now my house is a black hole.
Hey man really helpful video! I have a question though, I was taking apart the controller when I accidentally dropped the controller without the shells. Nothing was damaged except one of my red wire just ripped. Only 1, and it is the red one. What do I do? And can I take it apart without soldering? Thanks man, please respond soon!
Do you know how to remove the left and right stick clips on the boards I need to replace mine I have the new clips but don't know how to take the old ones off
What's up Nat. Thanks for stopping by. Are you referring to the assembly that holds the right stick on? It has an arm that moves around, etc... Just doing some basic research, it looks like those are somehow pinned in to the board. I'm not sure if they are soldered on through the other side or what...never really looked in to those. If I see anything I'll get back to you. Also doesn't look like there are any videos on it so I might have to make one for it.
Xbox DIY they're soldered i seen a vid where someone took them out and replaced them but he didn't really get into it much detailed definitely would look into it. I was going to do mine yesterday but I'm not the best with soldering/unsoldering so I just left it alone lol
Soldering is pretty tough - would it help if I made a video just for that? I feel like all the soldering videos I looked at were garbage and I ended up just asking somebody I work with for help. It's kind of specific to this controller so maybe that would help a lot of people out.
Xbox DIY I think it would the one I seen he sped the clip up where he was soldering/unsoldering so it was kinda hard to tell exactly how he did it. Would definitely help out me and others who would rather fix their own rather than buying a brand new controller and that breaks lol
I have a problem that nobody has been able to help me with. I have an xbox one controller that has a broken internal trigger. Not the trigger that is easily removable but the trigger inside of that that does not get removed in this video and is held in by the metal swivel screw. It does not look like there is any way to loosen that swiveling screw to replace the cracked plastic piece that it is holding in place. If you are not clear exactly which part I am talking about check out 12:30 in the video. It is the piece with the magnet attack to it and the rumble motor. I need to replace that and cannot remove it. If ANYONE knows ANYTHING I can do to replace it please let me know. I have two controllers that have the same problem so it would save me a lot of money. Thanks!
Thank u so much for the in depth video. I tore mine down and couldn't remember which way the trigger rumble motor went back in and most other videos only showed a small amount of the teardown IF it even went farther than just pulling the shell off so thank you
i know im randomly asking but does anybody know of a way to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly forgot the login password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
@Lane Salvatore Thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm trying it out atm. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
His controller is slightly different than mine.. I had to take mine apart to adjust the joystick for drift issues and I didn't even notice the module for the Aux Jack was just chilling on my floor.. did t even notice it fell out. I had no idea what it was until I inspected the controller. Turns out it just kinda sits in place and the prongs make contact with the board.... No solder... Nothing lol but I figured it out anyway :)
Anyone know where I can get the "white electronics grease" mentioned? I managed to totally while off all of mine and even though I don't think it will prevent my controller from working I suspect it might wear out my d-pad or something
Seem to have a problem where the Right bumper doesn't send a signal to the xbox. The function of the button works fine, however, when an app or game requires that button I cannot use it. I also seem to be having a problem where when I push any button down I get a delayed response. Any help would be appreciated.
My god.. a pry for watches (pop-off backs) will work so well for all of these things... it fits in your palm with a short blade. DON’T look at your current fossil watch and think the tool would work for that. The tool for your watch is a jaxa type wrench.
Hey, i want to replace my yxb buttons. Do I have to go through all the hassle like soddering stuff or can I Just unscrew everything and replace those buttons?
I opened my xbox one controller with your help. thanks for that. my problem is that right stick continues to rise even when the stick is in it's neutral position so I took it apart, I see absolutely nothing out of the way. no one has a fix for this. can you help me?
+Shaun Potter Hmm that's really strange. Check for anything sticky around that area? Sometimes the tap gets in the way, food gets inside, etc. Does the stick move alright? It should 'lock' in any position outside of it's normal range of motion when the case is off.
I have a problem with D pad. Something as if one button does not connect every time, I push it and not responding then again and it jumps two tabs (xbox menu). Before opening gamepad I would like your opinion, would it only need some redusting and oiling or some replacement ?
I would avoid oiling anything - you have to be careful with lubricants. You can open up jsut the outside case of the Xbox One controller and access the Dpad so it should be pretty darn easy (and fun).
Damn it, its the white part underneath the d pad for me. i got the default white controller and couldn't press the up or left on my d-pad. even disassembled i got nothing. i clicked it and then i went full 'don't care', i just scrapped the white part off and found metal underneath the white sheet. it seemed like i made decision i cant go back on, and i didnt have the smaller screwdriver for the green board inside.before that i put it in water to scrape off any soda residue or anything and it seems like i just pressed up and left on the d-pad to hell and back. it just reached the end of its life time.. damn. well i got other controllers but jus decided to try my hand at this thing
I was looking for these 2 small white plastic pieces in your teardown but didnt see them. I have the master cheif controller and it has a few different style parts but these fell off with the buttons and i have no idea where they go.
Could you show me a picture or give me some more details? There are so many controllers out now it's insane! I'm going to start buying broken ones and doing teardowns of the different models to help everyone out.
I managed to replace the rubber button piece without having to solder off the top motherboard. It was tight but its possible for those who want to try.
So, the white tab sticking out from the side of my left analog stick is missing the piece that holds it in place, so it doesn't sit up against the black button under it properly (slightly above it). I hear something rattling around further inside of it, so I need to take it apart further to find that piece. I hope this helps someone find their problem!
Turns out I was 100% correct! I got it out, and noticed immediately that the smallest piece on it had broken off, most likely the cause of it falling out int he first place. I am debating whether or not I should super glue this back on.
Hey man....Good video, but solder is pronounced "sodder" (no "L" sound). Furthermore, you should get some flux, which helps the solder flow better, and make a better connection. You can buy a small container of it at Lowes or Home Depot . Make sure you get rosin flux or petroleum based, not acid based (acid flux is specifically for plumbing, not electronics). Ask for tinning flux - I use Lenox brand, a petroleum based flux which I know for a fact is available at Lowes, located in the plumbing section. Comes in a little hockey-puck shaped plastic container and has the consistency of vaseline. Also, a damp sponge for cleaning the tip of the soldering iron is a necessity. You should never leave flux on the tip or the bits you've just soldered after you're finished soldering, and cleanup is easy with just a damp sponge. Cleanup of the circuit board points you just soldered can be done with medical grade alcohol (never ever use water to do this), which can be purchased at Wal Mart. Another important thing to consider is static electricity. An accidental dischard of static can be disastrous to your controller's circuit board, so make sure you ground yourself against something metal before you actually touch the circuit board. I actually didn't find it necessary to desolder the black and grey wires from either side - they were long enough that I could detach the circuit board from the other and just flip it around and out of the way. It would also be a *lot* easier to use a flat tip screwdriver as a pry bar instead of the torx driver. LOL
DUMB QUESTION, rumble keeps dying no matter what, im fixing a controller that had half the buttons not woking it works even rumble works using pc how ever it will die and i need to smack it hard then rumble works again and idk if its something simple or the person im fixing it for really fucked it up
He didn't take off the one part I needed
Lol, that's the exact same part I watched for 😂, the rest of the trigger
I needed the controller with the aux jack
Worthless disassemble.... didn’t even finish it.
What worse is all these videos are 15 damn minutes. I'm emailing them to pay me a salary for watching this crap.
Same he didn’t remove the joysticks
You got me further than the other 5 or so tutorials I watched, and actually helped me out alot. I was able to completely dissamble all moving parts without a a solder kit/iron or anything like that just a couple torxs drivers and a tiny flathead for complete disassembly. But u helped bro thanks.

Tip: To help with the first step, tape the rumble packs on. Remove the tape when you're ready.
you don't need a full disassemble to repair rb button do you??

Can you change or remove the trigger spring or whole mechanism
I would love to know this
Same here
Yah I definitely need to know 😆 to
Someone know how to remove the spring ? :) pls I need to replace it

Why are the rumble packs asymmetrical?
The one part I need to see, the hinge of the trigger and how to take it apart and you dont bother. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
do you have to fully disassemble it to repair some bumpers?? please please PLEASE respond
NovaPlayzYT dont think so
Easy, i've done it 😂
Also if you happen to wipe that grease off the dpad get a tube of white lithium grease it works great i use it in anything from these to n64 joysticks to ps2 disc trays and anything that needs grease
where is part 3, i have my controller in parts now LOL
Chi Wun Kam lol same😂
Danm
Its out now
Play the videos backwards

Thank you VERY much for making this helpful video. You saved me $65+ !
Feels good knowing how to fix your own problems. Not everyone has $60 to toss away. Thanks for stopping by!
Is it possible to get to the second motherboard without having to desolder any of the wires?
Hey I have one good side so I've been looking around for a joystick for Xbox One. There isn't one that's truly single-handed so I came up with what I think is a pretty simple design concept. I need help building it so I was wondering if you'd be interested in talking about potentially helping?
Thanks Chris Pratt
I am Chris Pratt, with way less money :(
Chris Pratt was extremely obese some years ago
Can you put a circuit board with the sticks on a different controller? Basically replacing the sticks on the other controller
Do you need to get rid of the rumble packs for the other parts
Do you have to detach the rumble thingys to remove the first motherboard
hey my bumbers seem to be different than yours... it's not a lunar white controller it's the black one that came with my Xbox one... is there 2 different styles? if so can u help me out? I only need to fix my left bumber
Devin Hughes dude I have the same one and i can't find a video for it
he took apart a black controller, not white
The easiest lb rb bumpers are connected. If your controller has that u are lucky lol
Could I cut the circuit board in half and run wires through the severed lines? I am working on a project where I would need the parts to be spread out over a couple feet...
I had a small black rectangular piece fall out that I'm not recognizing in videos or able to identify where it came off. Can anyone help? Can send pics
Is de-soldering optional or mandatory? Because I need to replace my top motherboard and was hoping I can save a few bucks without buying a solder.
I was able to fix my contorller thanks to this. Much appreciated.
One of my wires disconnected from the mother board is there anything wrong going to happen if I don’t reconnect it?
It was connected to the rumble part
In the beginnig of the video is thier a name for that whole piece, cause imtrying to order a replacement for all of that in one, is their a name for that?
why are you desoldering anything?!. FYI anyone do not do this it isn't necessary
Great video, Still pretty useful for Xbox 1S controllers.
The first time I ever played an Xbox 1 I played forza, and instantly noticed the triggers have not only rumble but slight force feedback as well when the ABS would kick in on the car
Want to ask what is the white strands which appears in the back getting power from battery what are there called
Its not dangerous chemicals really in lead free solder its basically just tin. And for lead solder you just need good air flow like a fan or a open window. Good to know. I've always just used a fan as well and it's worked fine for me.
Hi, any chance you know how to remove the springs and pins on the Xbox One controller's triggers? I noticed you left them attached and I need to replace one of them as the spring has snapped.
You ever figure this out?
@@ironclock Yes, with a pair if needle nose pliers and much more force than I felt comfortable with I was able to pull the pins out.
What kind of solder did you use
Yes, the grease on the plastic is very important folks. I wiped it off and once I put power back to the controller it imploded and now my house is a black hole.

+Selim Eylül "sodder" the wire back to where it ripped off.

@Lane Salvatore Thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm trying it out atm.
Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Lane Salvatore it worked and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thank you so much you saved my ass :D
@Reyansh Elian Happy to help :)
For those who are trying this for a lunar white controller dont the inside is different on the bumbers.

Can you do a vid on how to disabled right stick analog click R3? I keep maleeing in COD when in a intense battle. Fml
Do I have to remove the circuit board to fix the rb button???
could you remove the bumbers, super glue the broken part and just put it back in without taking everything else out?
My god.. a pry for watches (pop-off backs) will work so well for all of these things... it fits in your palm with a short blade. DON’T look at your current fossil watch and think the tool would work for that. The tool for your watch is a jaxa type wrench.
Would the pad still work if i took the shocks out ?
Hey, i want to replace my yxb buttons. Do I have to go through all the hassle like soddering stuff or can I Just unscrew everything and replace those buttons?
Ferhat Coskun I didn't usader them I just held them in with tape but be careful make sure u don't get the wires caught otherwise they will come off
Do i need to un solder to replace the left and right bumpers?
can you help me find a short on my controllers circuit board
I opened my xbox one controller with your help. thanks for that. my problem is that right stick continues to rise even when the stick is in it's neutral position so I took it apart, I see absolutely nothing out of the way. no one has a fix for this. can you help me?
+Shaun Potter Hmm that's really strange. Check for anything sticky around that area? Sometimes the tap gets in the way, food gets inside, etc. Does the stick move alright? It should 'lock' in any position outside of it's normal range of motion when the case is off.
Could you make an updated one with the new model controller
hey how do i put in the sync button by the left trigger back on I couldn't get back in
I need help the rumble motors wires both came out and tigger motor one wire came out.
I have a problem with D pad. Something as if one button does not connect every time, I push it and not responding then again and it jumps two tabs (xbox menu). Before opening gamepad I would like your opinion, would it only need some redusting and oiling or some replacement ?

Great Video! Saved me $65.00
where can you order parts?
Where can I buy a replacement board?
Sooo am I able to take off my broken bumper without taking it completely apart??
I was looking for these 2 small white plastic pieces in your teardown but didnt see them. I have the master cheif controller and it has a few different style parts but these fell off with the buttons and i have no idea where they go.
Could you show me a picture or give me some more details? There are so many controllers out now it's insane! I'm going to start buying broken ones and doing teardowns of the different models to help everyone out.
Xbox DIY i figured it out but thought it was weird. They go in the space under the bumper switches but its because my controller is a different model.
i have an xbox one controller and the left trigger hits with a clunk and the right trigger hits with a click. it drives me insane. what can i do
thanks for helping me fix my stick drift
How do u take off the backing to the triggers off that pin
I just ripped mine off, i have made a pretty big mistake
It just came off
I managed to replace the rubber button piece without having to solder off the top motherboard. It was tight but its possible for those who want to try.
Do you have to sodder it or no?
How do you take off the triggers?!
How do you open the back of the counter?
So, the white tab sticking out from the side of my left analog stick is missing the piece that holds it in place, so it doesn't sit up against the black button under it properly (slightly above it). I hear something rattling around further inside of it, so I need to take it apart further to find that piece. I hope this helps someone find their problem!

Both of the pegs holding in rb snapped. Just some super glue? Btw this is a wired controller
Rb was wedged in there. It finally came out without disassembly. It's actually one big peg that was attached on both top and bottom
How 2 change the trigger springs
Omg finally. I have a bumper system like this i couldnt figure out how to get off. Now i do
dat g5 weight tin though...... still have the weight tin and weights even though the mouse died on me years ago. Run a G9x now and love it.
Screw your haters man
Anyone know what size of torque bit
I was taking apart my control an two like white pieces came out an I can't figure out from where

It would also be a *lot* easier to use a flat tip screwdriver as a pry bar instead of the torx driver. LOL
To take off the bumper, it’s easier to start at the back to take it off
Thanks your videos are going to help

DUMB QUESTION, rumble keeps dying no matter what, im fixing a controller that had half the buttons not woking it works even rumble works using pc how ever it will die and i need to smack it hard then rumble works again and idk if its something simple or the person im fixing it for really fucked it up

You should use gauntlets every time you are soldering something, also if it's possible also wear a mask
My bumpers are squeaky...anyone have a solution????
Who says "soul dur" it's always been "saw dur"
So for me, there's these tiny metal pegs in the screwheads, completely disabling my ability to unscrew them
Yeah thats a security torx
I broke mine out and used a flat head
