Mark Coleman is a great father . What a transformation after fighting. Coleman priorities are right on family comes first. God Bless Mark Coleman in his retired life.
War stories with Mark is golden. Respect for Mark Coleman
This guy beat Igor Voychanchen when Igor was in his prime and solid as stone! That fact alone shows how tough Mark was.
And that was his 3rd fight of the night!
I remember seeing Igor Von Chanchin for the first time back in like 2010 and thinking wow this guy seems like he was good enough to beat Bruce Lee and my brother said something like are you serious? He was offended by that comment but I know how good Igor was and I heard Mark Coleman almost made him cry
Followed Mark Coleman when he was at Ohio State as the University is in my own backyard! True Legend of Columbus AND Old School MMA......Having seen BOTH Ken and Mark in their prime I do have to give the Win to Mark.....wish they really did have a chance to dance back then.....Cheers From Ohio
This man was a monster back in the day....😅
Naaaa.
That was his training partner. Kevin Randleman
@@captainroger yeah, coleman just trained one!🤣
Hell ya. He was called The Hammer for a reason. 😆
Steroids
@@captainroger jokes aside Coleman was bigger. He was a medium version of GOLDBERG with the traps. Randleman had great body and shape.
92-96 Shamrock was a monster.
His hands wasn't that good back then tho should watch his fights in the 00's in Pride he was really coming into his own
"I woulda' taken Ken Shamrock down, and pounded the shit of him"
Well I hope I'm never in jail with Mark Coleman.
Ken Shamrock in his prime was a lethal submission expert
You've over sold Ken a bit there mate. He's only really got leg locks, and chokes. Just look at his career after the comeback from pro wrestling, it was mediocre at best. Shamrock just never evolved that much, and had terrible stand up
Ken was better than Williams...and Williams KO Coleman.
Still to this day the best double leg takedown I have ever seen was Coleman vs Rizzo when he drove Rizzo half way across the ring and they came to a sliding stop.
I miss the 90's.
San Clemente 🌅Ave Vista Montana 😁🥋What up Coleman ?! Mark Kerr & Branden Hinkle were there when I visited...🚗🚗🚗
When Mark Coleman came into his own, Ken was well past his prime, so wouldn't have been a good fight at that point, but both of them at their peaks would have been a good fight
mark ducked ken shamrock
@Jesus Hitler your insane. Both in their absolute peaks ken was stronger. ken would’ve takin Coleman down and definitely would’ve put him in some kind of knee bar or heel hook or some shit guaranteed
@@timcastro7766 “Ken would’ve taken Coleman down”. 🤣 🤣 Ken woulda been fighting off his back, no question. Now whether ken could submit him or not is the question.
@@timcastro7766 That's the stupidest thing I've read this week.
@@timcastro7766 as easily as Ken smoked Dan Severn and Bas Rutten, I suspect you’re correct
mark is a legend to bad his punch drunk from all the wars he had
No he's fucked up from all the roids he was pumping.
No this is clearly from too many past concussions and rough training/practice headshots..
@@beaches2mountains230 Headbutts do plenty of damage to the giver too.
Mark's account seems inaccurate because during the Pedro fight, Mark used Ken's leg movement and raising up while in the guard which no other person at the time was using but Ken. It's not shameful to have been coached by the 90s Ken Shamrock. Today's Ken, maybe, but 90s Ken, not in the least.
90s ken at one time was the best In the world. No doubt his very peak he could’ve beaten anyone in the world with a submission
Respect the competitive spirit...
Both in their prime Coleman would have overwhelmed him.Especially when Shamrock was doing WWF.Coleman was a juiced up monster in those days and knew how to crush people
Would have loved to of see Mark vs Ken. I got 5 on Coleman, more often then not he dominated Wrestlers.

@@stevewozniak223 would have made for an epic fight had they met in 1996. Smith has said Ken was the strongest guy he ever fought and i think if Coleman doesn't finish Ken in the first 5 mins then Ken picks him apart and beats him.
I think people forget what a beast Ken was back in his prime mostly because he has been fighting on for so long despite being severely washed up as a fighter.
When Coleman arrived on scene, he was feared by everyone. He was the Tyson of MMA. His style of fighting was eventually outdated by more sophisticated techniques of submission.
They trained together and people have said they personally witnessed Mark knocking Ken down then Ken jumping back up and either KO'ing Coleman or at least knocking him so silly they had to stop the session. Prime vs Prime it could have gone either way. Ken took Severn down with a double leg but I doubt he would have been able to take down a fresh Coleman. Ken didn't always fight the smartest fight so I've got to give Coleman the edge but it would have been exciting to see those two go at it in their prime.
This is true. Ashe Bowman was there and confirmed it. I still think Coleman would have won in a match because Shamrock never did well off his back but none the less it would have been a dangerous fight for him and could have gone either way.
@@MagnusDivision Coleman was no Tito when it comes to GnP skill. If he did get Ken down all he would be able to do is lay on him until he gets tired. Ken beats Coleman 96-04 without a doubt.

So funny, what a good story, kens reaction? That’s just great history 😂🤘😜🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Mark got knocked out by one of Shamrocks students in the UFC.
Coleman's strength, wrestling and permitted (at the time) head butting, would have dominated the UFC had the tactic not been prohibited. The reason it was banned was because the wrestlers were dominating the sport with it and the UFC felt it was boring and bad for the sports' growth. Watch the early UFC contests and see that any good, strong wrestler dominate when they were permitted to head butt the mounted opponent's face while engaging the opponents' arms and hands, there was no defense against it. The UFC screwed wrestlers like Coleman .Head butting would have fucked up any BJJ fighter. Dan Severn didn't think to employ it if the first contest. He'd have smashed Royce Gracies' face to pulp.
Both Shamrock and Coleman were bad muthafucka's in their primes. That would have been a very interesting fight. In their prime I can't call it. Leaning slightly towards Ken ever so slightly.
Agreed 100%
Mark Coleman was much much bigger than Ken Shamrock. I would put my money on a prime Mark Coleman.
Rubacund no actually he wasnt
@Kaz lemon Coleman lost 4 straight fights in his prime in the 1990's. Shamrock never lost twice in a row in that decade. At the start of the new millennium Coleman's record was 7 and 4, Shamrock's was 23 and 5. Not likely Coleman could have beat a prime Shamrock. Shamrock had way more experience and was considered the better fighter in that era.
K W 🤣stop please ,, I doubt he was much bigger if even shamrock at one point was like 220 fuckin yoked ,, and if you think he was a better wrestler your out yo mind ,, shamrock was never in a strictly wrestling league was just naturally balanced agile fast and strong as a fuckin bull he would’ve handled Coleman just like he did kimo and dan Severn
Love it man
That would've been an insane fight!
Coleman's silly to sell Shamrock short.
i don't think he's selling him short but don't forget coleman was a national champion/Olympic quality wrestler.

Coleman should have his own one man show.
Cardio would've been the most important thing against Ken. Especially in those days. Those lions den guys ALL had insane cardio. Mark got gassed out quick against Maurice Smith, so i think somethin' similar might've happened against Shamrock...
Ken didn't have great cardio. 😒
I didn’t train for Mo was partying hard . Very foolish humbled 💯
Wonder what would have gone down if COLEMAN and KERR had to fight eachother in the semi's of Pride grand Prix 2000 ???
Kerr had a sugar problem in the Tourament I heard. So Coleman would've probably beat him. Prime vs Prime thats a good one.
Great matchup
It almost happened ....highlighted on the documentary 'The Smashing machine.' ..... Both very good friends and training partners. .... Almost happened with Don Frye and Dan Severn too! ..... Severn was Don Frye's manager at the time too !!!
@@coreywalton710 LOL sugar problem???

Great fighter and love the hoodie go Buckeye's nationan O-H
First MMA Heavy-weight champ knows the truth.
He lost twice against Fedor Emialenko.
he was only a grappler, not a striker...nowadays need to be both
With Both roided out of their minds power and wrestling wouldn’t mean as much as Ken’s submission skills . Ken also had a slightly better gas tank to tire Coleman out
When headbutts were legal, Coleman was one of the deadliest fighters on the ground. Him snd Mark Kerr were scary.
Coleman would potentially win like he beat FRYE and SEVERN. SHAMROCK lost to both of them. Obviously it dosent always go like that given the mood and in shape of the fighter on that day. But potentially he could beat Shamrock. And with headbutts allowed he can beat Royce Gracie as well.
Without headbutts i am not sure about beating Gracie. To be honnest on his first fight with Fedor back in 2004 if it was the old UFC with heeadbutts Coleman would of won. He did not do well with Cro Cop and with couture(coleman wasy out of hos prime). First time ever coudnt take down someone. He has like they said SUPERB take downs best in the busness ever .
Well we all now know what Dela Hoya's next mainevent will be lol.
(Seriously though in their Prime,I'd love to see this fight. Money's on Coleman)
My opinion is that Shamrocks only chance would have been to survive the first several minutes of abuse from Coleman and then catch him in a submission.
Again the guy has no background of fighting, he trying to be a wrestler or an submission specialist, but in reality he has zero skills except fake wrestling
yup
"was I listening to Ken Shamrock?.....fuck no ...hell no." Lol
No disrespect though 😂
I would put my money on the shamrock.
Ken shamrock tried to show Coleman how to ground and pound? Wtf.
That's a laugh! Mark Colman was one of the first guys to do it.
@Adam Irishconundrum I trained with the lions den way back late 90s. I'm 39 years old. I'm 5"11 215lbs (at the time) and I rolled with Ken Shamrock he was strong as hell. He's a good guy, but I didn't dig the screaming at people like military boot camp. But Ken had good balance and great submissions. I think Mark would have probably won by tko or Dec. But I wouldn't be surprised if Ken caught Coleman in a submission.
Bobby Schulte Bobby I used to work at a fitness gym in Lodi,Ca and the Lions den was connected to the gym. This was back in the early 90s Frank was just getting out of Prison and tiger white was training there too.Do you remember a guy named Scott Bessac? He was one of Mens first pupils.A few guy visited that gym.I believe Jens pulverized came down too.
@@sticknmove6202 yes, I do! There was another guy. He fought in superbrawl, Pete fought, and I think that frank did that night. Going waaay back. That to me was a special time. This group of guys not known by the masses but trained with each other and shared techniques.

Great back drop
If he beat Don Frye twice it's definitely reasonable for him to say he'd beat Shamrock.
His voice has got nice sub-bass.
Would have been great to see Coleman beat the shit out of tank Abbott , Coleman has dignified character, but nobody would've been safe near tank in a pub back in the day
It wouldve been worst then what Tito did to Ken
Stephen Bonner said Coleman has pig skin that can't be split. This is one of MANY comments made about his super-human qualities made by top notch fighters. The "Hammer" may be the best ever. Pick another fighter that gets respect like him, by everyone.
For Shamrock to attempt to show Mark Coleman how to ground n pound just shows the ludacris level of Shamrocks arrogance
He looks so different
Mark would have steamrolled Ken. He was too big and immovable once on top.
Yeah, Ken is more built to fight 205lb opponents. True heavyweights are too much including Mark who have done exactly what you said.
Who wins? Depends on where Mark's head it at. If he is Egoland, he has a 50 percent chance to get submitted and a 10% chance to get rocked. If Mark is leery but in good shape, he has an 80% chance. If it turns into a grudge match, I'd take Coleman's heart over Shamrock's every time.
I'm inclined to believe Mark when he says he would have beat Ken in his prime.
They trained together before Mark fought Rizzo. Everyone that was there said Ken owned him. Pride offered Mark a fight with Ken after he won the GP he turned it down.
@@kyleolson279 total lie
@@markcoleman1319 oh hi Mark

What??
Coleman was unbeatable in his prime. He was just too strong. The only reason he lost to Maurice Smith was due to overconfidence. If he took Maurice seriously and prepared for the fight, Coleman would've destroyed him.
if his cardio was 3 minutes better Maurice Smith could of lost from headbutts. However without the headbutts he woudnt finish Maurice smith. This guy blocks everything. At best a draw.
Glamrock as Abbott refered to him got choked the fuck out by a 180 pound dude. Sorry Ken but Coleman would have whipped that ass. Now Frank is a different story. These old school dudes remind me of my dad....
"no" lolol
I would have given the slight edge to Ken. Better submissions, better striking, better fight IQ, just as strong, less wrestling though.
Very true BUT the argument is in their prime. Ken was nowhere near his prime when he fought Don. Plus Don was arguably the better striker and had no intent of taking Ken down where Ken has an advantage against both those guys. Mark's plan in his prime would 100% be to try to take Ken down. I personally don't think MMA math of fighter A beat fighter B so should beat fighter C works in this case imo. I guess we'll never know..
@@iflores-lg9bg I win for sure .

i like coleman, the godfather of 'ground and pound' but one of shamrocks lions den fighters put colemans 'lights out' as well, so im not so sure that it would have been so easy for coleman to beat shamrock. i think it would be a case of 'who was better on that day'. as they were both smart fighters, then the one who lost would have changed strategies and come back to win the next one. if they fught 10x, i bet it each would be 5-5 wins/losses. but pete williams flat out put coleman to sleep in this one, his eyes rolling back up into his head. and shamrock was better than pete williams. ruclips.net/video/XpBuFVl4YY8/видео.html
