Bravo Ruthie! You are teaching an old grandma how to use her machine. Now if I could get my granddaughters off the video game and onto the machine like you, all would be great :)
Awesome info. Just got my first Featherweight from my 93 year old neighbor she bought new in her youth. Your videos are a GREAT help teaching me how to properly use & care for it. Thanks!
I've been sewing for many years and have had many machines. However, I'm just getting to know my recently acquired Featherweight. These videos are really helpful. Thank you Ruthie. You are a great teacher!
I can certainly see Ruthie being an amazing teacher in her future. She did an absolutely amazing job of explaining what she was doing, giving clear and precise directions. Thank You Ruthie!!
Hello, Ruthie. Thank you for the clear, helpful video. I’ll soon be receiving my first Featherweight and now I know how to place the bobbin in bobbin case, and the bobbin case in the Featherweight machine. It’s a bit confusing, because on my new Baby Lock Coronet long arm quilting machine, the thread comes off the bobbin clockwise. On the Featherweight, the thread should pull off the bobbin counterclockwise. I have to keep that straight. You do a great job making your Featherweight videos. I enjoy your natural teaching ability and clarity with which you speak. Keep up your great work.
I have to let you and Ruthie know .... that I just got my first featherweight (221) painted teal. And I know absolutely nothing . I found Ruthie’s videos. I am currently following her instructions step by step.please let her know.... she has done a wonderful job in explaining and showing. I really appreciate you both taking the time to make these videos,!!! Xxx SK
Thank you sweat heart since yesterday I was trying to fix my sewing machine , and figure out whats wrong with it, when I watched your video I found the problem , bobin has to move clockwise thank u soo much, hello from Istanbul 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
Awesome Ruthie. I was having trouble figuring out the bobbin in my new to me featherweight. I watched your video and got it all working. Thank you. Are you still sewing?
Thank you so much for such a clearly helpful video tutorial Ruthie! I don’t have a featherweight yet, but I’m looking for one, and I want to be ready and smart enough to use it properly! You are such a good teacher!
I recently purchase a featherweight. I took it in to have serviced to make sure it worked well. It did for a while. I recently took it back to the same person because it wasn't catching the bobbin. He said I threaded it incorrectly. I have watched your videos and played with it and made sure everything is the way you say. It sews beautifully for a few rows on my sample. After about 4 to five passes however, I start getting a skipped stitch in every pass. I have done everything and can't figure out why this happens. It sounds good and everything seems threaded properly according to what you say. It has an original bobbin case. I'm really frustrated.
Thank you for your videos. It would be very helpful to see actually where the bobbin case goes in close up to make it easier to line things up properly.

Hello!! Super newbie here. I am SO appreciative of all of your super helpful videos! Ruthie, you are such a great teacher. I wanted to point out one tiny thing that may help another newbie watching this. Around minute 0:39, it is shown to ensure that the thread is going around counter clockwise when the bobbin is laying flat on the table. When I follow this exactly, my bobbin then moves clockwise once in the bobbin case. I watched this several times before realizing the only way I can get the bobbin to spin counter clockwise is to ensure that the thread is moving off the bobbin clockwise when laying flat on the table. Just in case I have a weird bobbin case (don’t want to confuse anyone!), I have a 1934 school bell version. Could that be why? Regardless, I am assuming that the most important part is that the bobbin must spin counter clockwise when pulling the thread out of the bobbin case. Any thoughts would be super helpful - thank you!! ❤️

Can you do this with the thread holder thingie or do you need to use the old fashion way instead.

It is helpful to know that when everything is correctly aligned you will hear a tiny click. Until it clicks it will just fall back out.
The sewing machine needs to be plug to the electricity in order to work right
