Thanks for the info.Sea routes to India had existed much before the Portuguese, as can be seen in Kerala Jewish ,Arabic tradition. The Parsis arrived in Gujarat by sea. India also had trade routes with Chinese not only through the silk route .
Pls don't hurt our sentiment by saying vasco da gama discovered india, instead use he found alternative sea way from europe to India, by surpassing Turks.
The island's rust red beaches, coconut trees and picturesque views of the Arabian Sea are soothing. The sea looked beautiful in the vertical sunset light. This secluded island with a bright past is truly worth a visit.
Thank you Mam for introducing Kurmgad island, my Native place is Karwar I like to introduce some places from Karwar are Devbag beach, Devgad island, Majali Teelmaati beach , Ravindranath tagore beach n Rock garden, Kaali temple n Garden from Kodibagh and Sea food of Karwar you visit n you definitely love thise places.

This is a great video dear. Your presence makes the island look more beautiful. What is the weather like at this place. When is this a good place to visit. I visited Mangalore and surroundings last year. Really beautiful state, lot of culture. Hope they keep it alive that way …..
Thank you for stopping by :) Like any coastal place, winters are usually much nicer and less humid. So anytime between October to February, should be a good time. However, In January for a couple of days, the resort is closed as locals from Karwar visit the temple to celebrate a village festival. You can book directly on booking.com. Link is in the description
I look forward to visit Karnataka. Its a beautiful state but I have only seen its beauty in tv. This year I surely will visit Karnataka thats one of my resolution for the year 2023.
Wow so beautiful!!! Karnataka is one of the most beautiful states in India :) And Konkan coast is just amazing, very unique in the world as well! Thanks for sharing this very unique place!

Very well explained and blissful to be in exotic Island ...in Karnataka.... Mangalore belt is amazing .... although it is very expensive .....will try someday ...thanks ....
Just Beautiful ❤️ Actually Karwar is my Native place, but i have been born and brought up in Pune. Never knew about this place, though i travel to Karwar twice a year. This one us on my list in the next visit with my Family ❤️ Beautiful narration and beautiful voice...
It's is believed that Lord Narasimha had visited the KURUMGAD ISLAND piercing rock into two parts... You can watch the rocks pierced at 7:22 .... That's the reason there is a narasimha temple and people of Karwar celebrate Narasimha Fair in the month of December or January.... People are taken for free by the local fishermen from Baitkol. Loved the way video was shown.. Would have been better if you had collected the information from local Karwar people you would have got more information.
Really unbelievable to know that in our own land of Karnataka, we have such a beautiful place. .. thanks for the nice vlog... definitely want to visit...
There is a karnataka govt Jungle Resorts Lodge. (JLR)in Karwar. It is on an isthmus connected to the mainland during low tide . There is also an all weather narrow bridge . We went in July and we were the only tourists there . Went looking for oyster shells in the mornings . There is also a quicksand . (There was a guide) If you cannot afford this island ,do go there. In winter there are water sports We could see a few islands out to sea yours must be one of them
Beautiful place. Will visit sometime. I was there at Maldives for two years working at beautiful resort. Island life for visit, its fine, but staying for longer period will be little difficult.
I'm glad to hear it.. And I can understand what you mean.. That's the difference between people visiting and people living in "paradise". As the novelty factor runs away pretty quickly
I’m from Karwar and I live here too. We grew up hearing plenty of stories about no one being allowed to visit the island except on the day of the Narasimha Temple jatra (fair) that falls on a particular full moon day. We were told that the island was infested with snakes, and we believed 😂 Thanks for this video with no mention of those creatures 😅
Wow! That's interesting because I heard from someone else from Karwar who said that they used to go here often before it was taken over by Cintacor. I've heard about the snakes but mostly in the context of you need to wear shoes to protect yourself but didn't find any when we walked around the island 🏝️Except for when an eagle caught a snake!
Ah that's nice! I'd say it's worth a visit inspite of a hefty price tag as it's quite a special place.. and perfect to celebrate special occasions 😊 I love how idyllic this island is ❤️
It's per room cost inclusive of tax. And apart from room, it includes complimentary breakfast, access to pool, and a nature trail. I split the cost with my friend, so it was about Rs. 10k per person including all the food costs.

Also enjoyed watching dolphins from the hilltop. Wonder if one can still see them?! Nice review though rates have gone up so much
Wow! That is SO cool! I heard about the tents being set up before.. and yes, I've heard from the staff that you could see dolphins on some days.. but we weren't lucky enough to spot one.. and yes, it's quite expensive
Nice vlog and good to see kannada travellers promoting Karnataka tourism. Liked the way of story telling and the choice of background music and the editing. 20k per room looks expensive but if people can afford and they want to experience it can give a try once I feel.
Thank you for leaving a thoughtful comment. I'm glad you liked the video. And yes the price was high for me as well but the experience more than made up.. for me 😊Also, since I shared it with a friend, I only had to pay half the price from my side which is the only reason I found it relatively affordable!
Little correction... Vasco da gama DIDN'T discover India. India is always there prior to his ancestors. He just discovered a sea route to India for Europeans or west. By the way, nice content.
There's an event (jaatee) every year in January at the temple. They close the resort and open the island to public. If you are not planning to stay in the island, you can visit then
thanks for sharing this gem of a vlog with us, looking forward to visit this place soon. Quick question - how to reach this place from bengaluru? do we take a train from bengaluru to Karwar and then take the ferry ride to the island?
Thank you for watching 😊 you can take a night bus from Bangalore to Karwar. Although it's a long journey (I think around 10 hours). And the resort staff reaches out to you to co-ordinate the ferry pick up point. And they will pick you up from there
Good video Raksha. This is the first time I have seen your video. way to go! I am assuming you are doing these videos yourself so good job there!! have a look at pascal basel. the kind of travelling you do and being polished as you are - you could be an ambassador
Amazing to find out a pvt island other than Andaman. Full credit to you for your video. Can you share the link, etc. for booking ? And what is the best part of the year to visit the island ? Expecting a reply as you are promoting tourism in Karnataka, thank you
Thank you so much for leaving a nice comment.. the link to the booking is actually on the pinned comment in the video.. you can find it there 😊 And regarding the best time to visit - like any other coastal areas, it's best to visit during winters - November to February. Also note that since it's an island that needs to be reached by ferry, the hotel is closed during monsoons.. feel free to let me know if you have any more questions:)
I liked the place and want to visit this place.I know visiting kudumgad is adventurous in itself and bit risky too as had heard about casualities during festive season i know this could be one off however want to know on this aspect on safety parameters ..Help me understand that
They close down the island during monsoons. And I have heard about the casualties regarding the festival season too.. Maybe because the boat was overcrowded, I'm not sure.. But from what I understand, it was a one-off incident! And they take proper safety measures!

Is it allowed in India for a private person or entity to 'own' an island? They may be keeping people out by aggressive (and illegal) means.
