My theory is Moltres was supposed to learn Fire Blast at 51, but probably got coded wrong (or changed) to be Leer. Also, WHY THE FLIP does Zapdos get Drill Peck and Moltres doesn’t?! It makes sense that Articuno doesn’t since it has a short stubby beak, but in gen 1, every other bird with the long, narrow, pointed beak design gets drill peck: Fearow, Dodrio, Zapdos
You meant Flamethrower but that’s not really a theory, it’s a factual piece of the code. But if you look at things like Ponyta/Rapidash, it might not be the case. At the end of the day, you can only conclude that Gamefreak hate the bird.
Fun fact, Moltres was the first Pokémon put on the dinner table for the I Chews You podcast about cooking and eating Pokémon. I can't think of Moltres as anything but the outside of a turducken anymore.
Moltres really suffered from the gen 1 movepool :( Great run as always! Also, might be worth looking into gen 1 catch mechanics for the rare situations like this where it's faster to catch a surfer instead of getting the free Lapras after rival 5. Ultra balls are almost always worse than using a poke or great ball, with great balls generally being the best. (For that poliwag, a Great ball would have been a 50.9% catch, whereas the ultra ball was a 28.4% catch)
Yea, I've been scolded on it already. I know about the variables and missing health but I just kind of bought the closest balls and went for it. I'm familiar with the early game variables with Pokeballs but honestly I just never catch anything that late but needed to rush Fire Blast here. It was a good moment though! I'll try to plan ahead and use great balls if there's a rare 'Blaine first' moment again. In a speed run it would be an issue, but I allow save states for catching generally so I could have just used my hands and reloaded forever but it's good to know the game a little better.
Oh no, it’s all good. I get tons of rude comments and I didn’t bat an eye at this one lmao. I like helpful things that I can think about in the future. Rude would be like ‘god I was so frustrated when you clearly didn’t know about the catch rates of great/ultra balls’ along with other gripes, lol. Non constructive things are grating.
The likely reason that Moltres learns Leer at level 51 is that Leer is move 43 and Flamethrower is move 53. A simple typo on a dev's part. While this wouldn't make the early game any easier, it'd still have been nice for the late game. Weird that Zapdos gets Drill Peck but neither of the others do. Note that we should expect Flamethrower to be here, not Fire Blast. Looking at the movepools of the Eeveelutions and Electabuzz/Magmar/Jynx, Flamethrower shows up in the analogous slots as Thunder, Blizzard, and Hydro Pump. Additionally, Fire Blast is a gym leader TM, which Pokemon never learn by level up.
Gen 1 is a weird game. If you count the Charmander line as one, only 5 total Pokemon even get the move and that's sad because I think it's cool personally, lol. Considering there's HMs/TMs for similar moves like Psychic, Thunderbolt, Surf, Ice Beam, Body Slam, etc. it just feels weird that it's missing. It's even weirder that there was so many positive changes to Yellow and then again into Gold/Silver but even then there wasn't a way to get Flamethrower until Crystal's move tutor.
Love Phoenix Wright. I think Moltres will really struggle in the early game and gain a lot of time toward the middle and struggle again toward the end of the badge gauntlet and in the league. Loving the videos man!
Great job on this one, I’m really impressed with how many TMs you utilized on this one to overcome all of Moltres’ problems! Also I really enjoy seeing you beat Mewtwo, it’s a very fun addition.
Appreciate that. I've been doing my best to get better. I've done two live streams the past two weeks and the pressure of 'I get 3 runs to beat their previous times' has made me really adapt. Mewtwo got 2h 16m with 0 resets and I finished Nidoking earlier at 2h 32m with 3 resets, one of those being an awful reset where I 'called my shot' and I missed and got knocked out like I predicted.
Moltres isn't as good as I would've thought... I figured that it'd have problems in the movepool department since most legendaries start with pretty crappy moves, but this is just insane. Fascinating run!
Yea I mean that's a great starting move for sure. It's no Mewtwo but pretty good! It can also get Bubble Beam and that's the end of it's coverage but pretty good.
Yeah, it's cool seeing the genetic freak. Mewtwo always felt like the true final boss/victory prize when playing these games. I named mine Mewblue, and hopefully my game battery is still alive with him in it.
Fire Chicken ...I love Articuno more, much as I adore phoenixes. Our molten molting buddy really got done dirty by the moveset, huh? I am pleasantly surprised that the Misty and Lt Surge fights were as easy as they were! Also cool that Rest is great to soak. I typically throw that on a Meowth, because glass cannon Attack sweeps like those could always use a catnap to recover. While not great for speedrunning, I would've thought Fly would be great to tank too if you outspeed your opponents? Holy crap, that Poliwag. With that failed catch and the clock still running after the fact, I believe that disbelief. As for Mewtwo, please keep the finale battle vs it. It's such a great cap to the runs.
Yea it really got done in. I did have to skip Misty and Surge at first though. I did use fly for that reason. Peck does more raw damage but the invulnerable turn helped with high damage. Yea, the Poliwag part was great lol.
Appreciate that! Going to keep it real all the time, lol. Can't stand the fake RUclips voice trying to be as PG as possible to get the cheap views. I want to earn it my way.
Moltres is done so dirty by its learnset. Ice Beam/Thunderbolt/Fire Spin. One of these three is not like the others. Thunder/Blizzard/Leer. Again, one of these three is not like the others.
Gen 1 not having the Flamethrower TM is something that hurts a lot of fire types. There was an integer error and that makes leer the move in that slot though, as I understand it. I've been working with assembly code to make improvements to some things that seems to be the case. But yea, Drill Peck into Thunderbolt for Zap, Ice Beam into Blizzard for Articuno make them A+/S tier runs but poor Moltres just gets stuck with nothing, struggling on Koga lol.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 The lack of flamethrower TM is rough, yeah. Regarding Leer vs Flamethrower, I believe flamethrower's hex value is 35, which is 53 in decimal, where Leer is 2B, which is 43 in decimal. It would seem strange to me if they noted down the attack in decimal before turning it to hexadecimal, but it certainly checks out in terms of being one number off. I think its also interesting that Thunder and Fire Blast stayed the same, despite both having the same BP, but one has 70 accuracy and the other 85 accuracy. Even more interesting that Blizzard got nerfed from 120/90 to match Thunder, while Fire Blast stayed the same. Its almost as if they realized fire was just a weaker type.
Some of the design decisions are just strange. I'm going out on a limb and saying they really just didn't know what they had or what it become and didn't put that much thought or foresight into it. It's fascinating how they fit it all into the cartridge and I love making the tier list because it lets me play things I never really dove into when I was younger but it's interesting to see little things like that. It's just sad a legendary is that far down when Articuno is competing with Mewtwo/Alakazam lol.
Great timing just finished work !!! Love Moltrez mostly due to design I just love myself a phoenix. That starting move set though :( going to be a fun one ....
Nice. Yea, it has a lot of problems but it could have been a halfway decent run if it wasn't for that pesky Gyarados. I just couldn't get through it without more levels.
Hey! For the Mewtwo piece - it can be fun to watch, but it's not must-see. It's always a short segment and considering the extra work involved for you for such a small part of the videos, I think there would be no love lost if you take out the Mewtwo battle
I dont comment often but i havevenjoyed your runs. It sucks some pokemon like moltes just got the short end of the stick. And with brock being the first leader it stunts so many runs. Still a fun run. Also i noticed that you had said hyper potion not hyper beam at 31:24. Looking forward to the other legendary birds and I plan to move to your other runs tonight. May you have plenty of success
Maybe the big beam made up for the wrong term! Yea, I’m excited to do several runs but I know Articuno will be a top 10 contender when I get to it. Appreciate the kind words and appreciate the discourse.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 definitely articuno will be top for sure. And it is always a pleasure seeing the uploads. I'm especially looking forward to the mid stage evolutionary lines. There hasn't been any or hardly anyone doing the likes of machoke or haunter. No matter where it goes or what is first, I'll enjoy the run. And I didn't have a sodie pop but I got myself a energy drink to enjoy the runs.
You'd need an energy drink for the streams lol. People are wild in there. I'm actually doing Haunter for October! And I think probably Graveler sooner rather than later. I don't think they'll be anything crazy outside of Haunter/Kadabra but you are right, no one does them but if I want to complete a tier list, I need to get it out of the way.
It’s easy to just not think about but it’s rough down here at the bottom. It’s the only way RUclips will take notice and get the video to more people so I honestly really appreciate it!
Seeing how much effort you put in to the editing of the video is impressive! Constantly updating the graphics on the side is such a nice touch!!! Love your work!
I was thinking, maybe it's fair that a bird mon can't learn Body Slam. But Dodrio learns it. Farfetch'd learns it. Freakin'...Alakazam learns it. A five year-old child would Body Slam you harder than Alakazam.
I’m writing a script now for a future vid and I mention how Gamefreak seemingly rolls a dice for who got body slam in Gen 1. It’s a little ridiculous sometimes.
That poor bird. Truly out of the trio it is the one that got the least amount of love in gen 1 with that combo of bad starting moves/level up moveset and TM learnset
I think it´s kinda sad that cool Pokemon are often limited by their moveset. I really like Moltres and seeing it struggle just because it has bad moveset bothers me. Maybe you could do a fun run where you just teach Moltres moves that are on par with thunderbolt and drillpeck? Nice videos btw :)
It's honestly insane how Articuno starts with a 95 BP STAB move, Zapdos starts with a 80 BP STAB move, and all Moltres has for a long time is fire spin (while broken with the mechanics, still slow) and peck. Might be a fun little thing to replace the starting fire spin with flamethrower just to see how much more bearable the run would become.
Excited to catch this run! I predict Moltres will do well. Well, i guess it did better than Charizard in some aspects haha… i just knew it learned Flamethrower but i forgot Gen 1 didn’t bless the Phoenix with such a necessary move … By chance did you try using Rest as a recovery move? Oh and yes i do enjoy the Mewtwo fight at the end of the runs as well
Yea, rest was the only way I could make past a couple of fights in the mid game. The self destruct hiker and Koga would have been impossible..ish without.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 oh i hear you on that. It wouldn’t hurt to try it if you haven’t already, I’ve seen some vids where rest helped in some elite 4 fights but I’m not sure if that’s optimal or not.
GG! That starting moveset is punishing! I wonder why they showered zapdos and articuno with love and affection then tossed moltres to the curb! I enjoy seeing the mewtwo fight, I see it as a victory lap after the pokemon has struggled their way through the elite 4 :D
Yes I have no clue. I don’t think Gamefreak liked fire types a lot. There’s a lot of bad ones even though they are limited. I think there’s one high tier one and the rest are either middling, serviceable, or bad. Flamethrower TM would be great. I like that too. Some Pokémon like Wartortle really struggled on it though but it’s a good test. I would do Oak’s unused champion team but it’s just so similar to the rivals, imo.
Ahhh you know it’s a good day when Matt uploads a video! Can’t believe that sandshrew and poliwag, definitely had a lol moment! Matt I’m never one to ask to do a Pokémon but I was wondering what’s an obscure Pokémon that a lot of people don’t give love to, and I think Lickitung would be a good one, that and also JRose hasn’t done it 😂
Scott did it a long time ago! It's on my list and I actually made a sprite for the layout. I don't when I'll do it but it's one of my favs as well so I'm excited to see it in action.
Thanks a ton! I think I prefer Pikachu's Gold sprite the most. When redoing my tier list that I've been slowly chipping away at, I'll pick the Pokemon's subjective best sprite in green/RB/yellow/GS and Yellow and Gold got a ton of them. Green got a single win and Red just got 2 lol.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 Gold has some bangers no doubt (also arguably my favourite game for the nostalgic hype of two regions) I can't say I'm surprised regarding red and blue sprites lol. Keep up the good work!
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 Gold has some bangers no doubt (also arguably my favourite game for the nostalgic hype of two regions) I can't say I'm surprised regarding red and blue sprites lol. Keep up the good work!
Looks like the Fire Turkey got his goose cooked due to a poor move pool. If only this was Gen 2 or later, where Moltres actually has access to some better moves like Flamethrower. FireRed/LeafGreen would make an interesting run for Moltres to see how it improves over Red/Blue.
I always thought Moltress was cool, but having such a narrow move pool hurts. It doesn't get Drill Peck, and Fly taking two turns isn't great because it's attack stats aren't where it shines anyway. It's not fast enough to make notable use of Fire Spin, so really it's only good move is Fire Blast. I gave mine Toxic and maybe Rest as a children, but if I really wanted a way to get the best use from the best fire move, there are others with other offensive choices.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 yeah lol, but at least in my case I'm not soloing so I can bring an Electric-type for him. Just funny looking back at what we did as kids
Here for being the one comment on the bonus footage. I love your accent, it makes your videos that much more enjoyable to listen to. Keep up the good work
I didn’t know it was a competition! Probably not. The main difference is that I spend free time away from actual work as a hobby while it’s his full time job with his hundreds of thousands of subs. I also like to do at least 3 playthroughs to make things accurate to rank them while he spends significantly less time doing just a single playthrough. I’d say I doubt it. Even if I did a run a week it would take me almost 2 years to get done assuming I do Gen 1 each week and there’s too many variables to even want to care or take a guess at that point.
Moltres could be good but it has an extremely narrow move pool for most of the game If it got Flamethrower and Drill Peck to begin with it would be much stronger overall
What were they thinking with Moltres` moveset? They should have given Moltres Flamethrower or Fire Blast instead of Fire Spin. And maybe Drill Peck instead of Peck.
Thanks for the feedback! I avoid those references mainly because I’m in a solo run discord and some other guy had just made a Moltres video like 2-3 weeks earlier that was all about it and I wanted it to be fresh. Phoenix Wright themed it was.
Bug Catcher on Route 3: Wow, he beat Brock early. I wonder what he has... maybe a Bulbasaur or Squirtle Pokeball: opens to Moltres Bug Catcher:.........tf?!?
Here's a rule of thumb. Ultra balls are worse than pokeballs and great balls at full HP. They have to be at least half hp in order ti be more effective for great balls and one third hp for ultra balls.
Its sad how bad moltres gets the stick :( I love the legendary birds and moltres is no exception. Poor little fire turkey :( Another lovely video Matt!
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 Its at least improved in later games but yeah early moltres just.... wasn't "hot" per se Its a real shame. Cant wait to see the new overlay in ACTION btw!
Thanks for the video! I really wish fire types were better. Ninetails, Flareon, Moltres are all so cool but suffer from weird stats or bad moves. At least in Gen 1.
I'm not excited for the Ninetails run, lol. Flareon at least has crazy good attack but we'll have to see. Arcanine is where I'm just shaking my head already.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 what about magmar? it only knows ember, but at least that's a special move. It also learns mega punch and bodyslam. Learns flamethrower too late but at least fire punch is STAB. Plus fire blast
I think Magmar will pretty good. It has a decent learnset overall and will be about that middle range of Fire types when it's said and done. I think Charizard will be leaps and bounds ahead with things like Charmeleon, Vulpix, and Magmar solidly in that 3 1/2 to 4 hour range. I think I'll do Magmar and Electabuzz around the same time but I think they have potential. There's just so many runs. Even if I took a break for like 2 weeks a year, It would still take me 3 years to get through generation 1 but I like to do special runs, egg move runs, and the cross gen Sanqui runs so it just comes to a point where I have so many ideas but not enough time. The channel is growing though. If it ever gets into something that becomes financially stable I could maybe do more videos but I think the stability to take more times on videos and keep the same schedule sounds likely. I haven't released a schedule in a while but that's because I haven't really been that far ahead since moving. I'm going to do a few bug runs until the end of September then probably do a few 'spooky' runs but idk. Sableye cross gen is definite, Haunter is definite, but after that I'm not sure. Maybe Abra since it's early game is notoriously awful and psychic is park of the spook and maybe an Umbreon cross gen.
FIRE TURKEYYYYYY!!! Hey Matt loved this video as always man keep up the great work! I missed the end of the stream due to work things so I missed when you said you were gunna decide about how often you were gunna stream, what was decided? Cant wait for the next video! But I feel like it's some good anger management for you at the end to be able to beat the best pokemon ever made (literally) EDIT: PS I loved how you kept in the little poliwag that could. that part was hilarious lmao 😂😂 as I said in the stream, this is why we love you matt ❤

@@GymLeaderMatt1987 that's awesome to hear! I'll try and be there atleast a little bit for every stream :) and yeah I definitely think they add to the overall enjoyment of the video. And like you said the poliwag incident sums up the moltres run pretty nicely. And of course! Love your channel and content and wana help you grow because you definitely deserve more viewers
I just show the things I'll be using. For most Pokemon if you show them all it gets so tiny and hard to read. This one is slightly dated so I did make some changes later though.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 I was only suggesting showing it all for a few moments while you talk about the moves, while you make it full screen. Maybe making the ones you won't show later grey. That will give viewers an ability to think about what other options might be possible. You don't have to even change how you describe the moves. But just a suggestion.
The problem I have is space. Some Pokémon have room, others don’t. To fit like a normal type that knows tons of moves I’d have shrink it and if it’s at the point to where I can’t even read it, then that’s when I’m against it. The problem with an overlay that generates numbers and things in real time is I need it to be the same for each run. I get where you are coming from and I think if someone watches a video where someone played 3+ runs with a Pokémon and even calculated damage numbers and experience ranges, then just trust in the process. Like on the Rhydon video I address that Rhydon can learn a million moves but say why I don’t show special moves on the side. They simply wouldn’t fit without being ant sized.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 you're the fire in the run hence fire run ;). Moltres and the other birds have one of the smallest move pools for legendaries in their original game.
Moltres is really good, actually shares the same typing as Charizard. It has better stats than Charizard so if you wanted it's typing it wasn't out of the question, however you get it way too late in the game and much like Jose said it's movepool leaves much to be desired. It's actually my favorite legendary bird.
Phoenix Wrong has been one of my favorite flash series on the internet. Moltres is however my least favorite gen 1 legendary. There probably was a reason why you found it so late in the main game.
I think the redo will be alright but it's a low priority redo at this point but yea it's missing a few things especially considering how well the other do did.
Moltres is one of those Pokémon that just BAFFLES me. I mean what were they thinking??? Sure the stats are nicer than charizard but with no move Pool to take advantage of it what’s the use.
I guess they just thought of some things as weak and didn't bother but no way anyone knew that Pokemon with defense curl would be raising every stat up lmao.
You might want to check one of your codes that you're using for DVs, or some other code. A 9 speed Moltres at level 5 is impossible, his minimum with no DVs and no stat xp should be (hp/atk/def/speed/special) 24/15/15/14/17 Yours had: 22/16/14/14/9 Some of those are below the minimum possible, so something wonky is going on. Notice the HUGE speed boost you got as soon as you levelled? You went to level 7 and then had stats of 31, 21, 19, 24, 19. These are correct for a max dv moltres with no stat exp (the two pokemon you killed wouldn't have given you a bump). So the code IS working, but something is way off before that, and it is not as simple as "Not applying the max dvs until the first level", because the speed and some other stats are lower than even that races minimum. I tried to get one step ahead and see if it was just using the starter stats, but, as I figured, since you replaced Charmander (who is quite fast), 9 speed is also below his starting speed. It doesn't make a huge difference since the first level fixes it, but I noticed some comments like "OMG Moltres doesn't outspeed a weedle", which, that's not true. Moltres does still suck, but I dunno what happened there.
I don't know either and noticed it on that comment. This was recorded at my old place about a month ago and used something on an old computer as well. It looks like it was fixed after level up but unfortunately it's just all speculation at this point. It's possible it was using something else but it seemed to be fixed on the new stream I did this past Firday.
moltres would legit be good if it got flamethrower and/or drill peck, its fireblast is tied for the strongest special attack in gen 1, even stronger than mewtwos psychic.
Yea, but saying something would be good if it had it's movepool completely retooled is basically like saying Weedle would be solid if it was a different type, got better moves, and had 100 special and speed. With that said, I think I fumbled the ball on Moltres a bit. I have a backlog to stream some very old runs but eventually some of the runs like Wartortle/Charizard/Moltres and maybe a couple more need a redo as well. I do think that I could get this one down to like 3h 20m or maybe even less.

I like the Yellow Sprite but the original Vileplume sprite Petal Dancing on me is the one that haunts my mind
Makes sense because you never see Vileplume's sprite in Yellow naturally! It's a weakened Gloom in Yellow.
Moltres isn't as good as I would've thought... I figured that it'd have problems in the movepool department since most legendaries start with pretty crappy moves, but this is just insane. Fascinating run!
Mew does but Mewtwo, Zapdos, and Articuno start off with fantastic moves!
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 arcticuno is NUTS. Starting with icebeam? That's nearly broken.
Yea I mean that's a great starting move for sure. It's no Mewtwo but pretty good! It can also get Bubble Beam and that's the end of it's coverage but pretty good.
I think the Meotwo part is always interesting to keep imo. Great video!
Thanks! Always appreciate the feedback.
Yeah, it's cool seeing the genetic freak. Mewtwo always felt like the true final boss/victory prize when playing these games. I named mine Mewblue, and hopefully my game battery is still alive with him in it.
@@TrueNomadSkies ZOMG! I used that name too! 😮
@@NormanFernandez Mewtwo from Pokemon Blue right? I used it for emails and usernames and everything, too.
Fire Chicken
...I love Articuno more, much as I adore phoenixes.
"And if you don't, get over yourself, dude!" Matt is the sassiest of PokeTubers. I dig your stuff, man. TOMBSTONER, BROTHER!!!
Mewtwo bonus footage is MANDATORY!!! Keep up the good work GLM!
Thanks! It’s in for now! Unless some serious time crunch happens.
Hey! For the Mewtwo piece - it can be fun to watch, but it's not must-see. It's always a short segment and considering the extra work involved for you for such a small part of the videos, I think there would be no love lost if you take out the Mewtwo battle
Noted! I do think enough have said they like it that I can sacrifice 10 extra minutes battling it, and writing a few extra sentences on it.
Wow! Moltres survived a selfdestruct! That's very rare for a Pokemon to survive Weezing's selfdestruct.
It’s stats are at least legendary still.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 yes that's true.
I think even Horsea survived a self destruct too though.
Moltres always looked like one of those honking chicken toys you buy for your dog.

Appreciate that! It’s a software and it’s pretty impressive for sure!
Stream redo wasn't nearly as bad as you'd think.
Oh snap you were right. Every Tuesday. I tip my fedora
Only for the last like 70 weeks, lmao.
Great job. These videos are great to have on as a pseudo podcast while driving to and from work.
Nice. If they aren't long enough I'll start leaving my stream vods up. They are like 4 hours...ish lmao.
I think Moltres’s Galarian form might be the way to go but that’ll be for later.
Well, i guess it did better than Charizard in some aspects haha… i just knew it learned Flamethrower but i forgot Gen 1 didn’t bless the Phoenix with such a necessary move …
By chance did you try using Rest as a recovery move?
Oh and yes i do enjoy the Mewtwo fight at the end of the runs as well
Yea, rest was the only way I could make past a couple of fights in the mid game. The self destruct hiker and Koga would have been impossible..ish without.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 okay cool i don’t know how i missed that, but yea bro another great run - i appreciate your content
@@rjthepoet500 No problem. Someone said I should have tried it at the end but idk about that.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 ahh a flamethrower tm, if only...
I'd like to mod it into the Celadon Mart to keep it on par with the time you can get surf/ice beam/psychic and other similar base power moves.
Also I do love the mewtwo at the end. It's almost like the grand finale/victory lap so to speak
Nice I like it too. It’s a cap off of the run or at least leads into optimizations on some runs.
And now you know why Lawrence III went for Moltres first.
Lmao true. A Poliwag killed me.
Whoever had the final say on movepools did not care about their job
Moltres likely has a coding bug for leer. Doesn’t help a lot but likely it should have been Flamethrower.

Love those games, such an amazing series. It might be time to break out my old 3DS and play them again
I got them on Steam and replayed them recently!
Vileplume's sprite has always been elite, including the cards
Yea it always looks good. I love the yellow sprite the most!
Vileplume's sprite is undeniably good. I have to say that Pikachu's sprite in yellow is his best by far. Great content man! Glad I found your channel.

Yea for my money yellow has the best. I'm unsure about gen 2 because they have color and that probably just looks better.
Legendaries can't even breed so no egg move for this one! I'm just glad it's over, lol.
Yea it’s about as narrow as it gets. It’s not quite on the levels of Voltorb or Magnemite but it feels close!
moltres was the first legendary i ever successfully captured at age 7
Victory Road? I think Articuno was mine!

Ya know, I’ve never seen Pidgeot’s Yellow sprite before today. Pretty cool honestly
That’s the second time I heard that. It is cool. Pidgeotto’s isn’t great though.

Here for being the one comment on the bonus footage. I love your accent, it makes your videos that much more enjoyable to listen to. Keep up the good work
Thanks, brother. Appreciate that. This was a while ago and sadly I cut out the bonus to focus more on the core experience.
I always named my Moltres "KFC" if I ever got one in game
I like it but I've seen it done already and gotta keep a little dignity. At least you can say you've never seen a Moltres with Phoenix Wright's hair!
Word on the street is that Little Timmy's favorite legendary bird is Moltres.....
Little Timmy thinks that Pikachu is a legendary.
Are you going to beat JRose 11 for the solo run throughs of original 151 Pokémon in red/blue?
I didn’t know it was a competition! Probably not. The main difference is that I spend free time away from actual work as a hobby while it’s his full time job with his hundreds of thousands of subs. I also like to do at least 3 playthroughs to make things accurate to rank them while he spends significantly less time doing just a single playthrough.
I’d say I doubt it. Even if I did a run a week it would take me almost 2 years to get done assuming I do Gen 1 each week and there’s too many variables to even want to care or take a guess at that point.
Definitely love this layout for all the information! And mewtwo is interesting to see how they stack up 👍🏼
This was my first attempt at the updating overlay. I used a new version in my latest stream and I'll probably stick with that going forward!
Moltres could be good but it has an extremely narrow move pool for most of the game
If it got Flamethrower and Drill Peck to begin with it would be much stronger overall
Well the others get one great move and one so so move but with Moltres they thought 'how bad can we make this without looking like we hate it' lol.
I don't know much about gen 1, but I know enough about Moltres' competitive history to be worried about it.
It just doesn't get any help.

Here's a rule of thumb. Ultra balls are worse than pokeballs and great balls at full HP. They have to be at least half hp in order ti be more effective for great balls and one third hp for ultra balls.

Interesting Pokémon, well played.
I also wish you showed the whole moveset in the beginning, not just the ones you find useful

You might want to check one of your codes that you're using for DVs, or some other code. A 9 speed Moltres at level 5 is impossible, his minimum with no DVs and no stat xp should be (hp/atk/def/speed/special)
24/15/15/14/17
Yours had: 22/16/14/14/9
Some of those are below the minimum possible, so something wonky is going on.
Is beer a suitable replacement for sodey-pop?
Let me check the list.
Yes. You’re good.

Does it still count as a sodee pop if its got whiskey in it?
Of course! Maybe as two.
“Arise Fire Chicken!”
Objection!
moltres would legit be good if it got flamethrower and/or drill peck, its fireblast is tied for the strongest special attack in gen 1, even stronger than mewtwos psychic.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 lol true can always dream of a way to make a pokemon better.
For sure. I think it'll get it's chance to be much better. Maybe I can wrap up these old runs eventually lmao.
mewtwo could serve as tie breaker mostly perhaps
In the case that two runs not only have the same time down to the second and have the same resets, sure!
