This is the first of a series of videos aimed at giving clear and simple explanations of photgraphy techniques and procedures using live models in "behind the scenes" videos to help me demonstrate the results.
In this Video, I am accompanied in my studio by Wan who was my model for the session. Please check out her Instagram page: waann_18
The aim of this video is to demonstrate how to build up your desired lighting effect step by step using trial and error.
Don't be afraid to move your light, camera, model, ... to get the desired lighting effect.

Interesting to me: in the recording from the camera finder the catchlights are much more pronouced than in the photographs. These catchlights are due the video lights, aren't they?

How are you using a Neewer flash trigger on a Panasonic S5?

Good question @veryberry. I am using the Neewer Q Pro Nikon version and it triggers my Q3 flashes perfectly as long as I don't go try to go into High Speed Sync.
By the way, the Nikon version of the Neewer Q Pro also triggers the same flashes when used on my Sony ZV E10 as long as I don't try to go into High Speed Sync.

Would flashes with modeling lights reduce the need to fiddle with the flash positioning after every shot?

Hi again @verberry. Thanks you so much for your comments and for interacting. The answer to your question is yes and the Neewer Q3 flashes do have a modelling light, albeit a bit dim. I wanted to demonstrate in the video how any type of flash, including those without modelling lamps can be moved and adjusted to obtain the desired lighting effect.
Most of all, I want people to lose the fear of moving their lights, camera and subject as the more you experiment, the more confident you feel at controlling the light in your images.
