Fun fact: My husband’s aunt Elena actually played Mac’s mom in this 🤣 her ONLY movie role. After this movie she said “nah I’m good,” & went on to pursue other interests. Every time the family gets together we drink & watch this movie just riffing on it with her.
@@91bria oh she knows it’s absolute garbage 🤣 she was embarrassed about it for awhile but when she got older she came around. Getting sloshed & laughing at it with us definitely helped & Now it’s a fun random fact she likes to pull out for ice breakers.
I’ll give Mac and Me this, The Main Actor who plays Eric is actually wheelchair bound. Why it had to be this movie to have actual paraplegic representation? The world may never know.
Can we talk about how Eric's mom hates him and was trying to get him killed? She buys a house whose backyard slopes down into a lake, knowing he's in a wheelchair, and she blames him for stuff he couldn't possibly do, so if Mac wasn't there, he'd have an unfortunate "accident" sooner or later.
Definitely one of the best Bad Movie Roasts this year. I remember when DT 1st brought up the clip of the kid falling up the cliff on the streams, it made me laugh hard, & I desperately wanted a review. The wait was worth it! The McDonald's dance scene was just pure gold.
The mom blaming the kid instantly for the destruction of the house is so absurd. Especially when you notice some of the shit is stacked on top of other shit so high that a wheelchair bound kid couldn't possibly of put it there. Like at 25:00 look at the lamp with a goddamn chair placed on top of it neatly. No way that little kid could do that stuck in a wheelchair.
The McDonald's dance scene was filmed in City of Industry,CA at a fake McDonald's(used for training videos/commercials). It's down the street from the Puente Hills Mall(the Mall from "Back to the Future").
49:45 Fun fact Alan Silvestri, composer of the Back to The Future movies did this movie! So them mimicking the BTTF theme makes this so much funnier! 😂
When my Mom rented this for me years ago as a kid, I think the wheelchair scene was the first time in my life where I said, "What the F***!?" to which my Dad replied, "Jesus, really." And got up and left the room lol.
It's funny how, outside of McDonalds and Coke, the biggest stars from this movie are Jennifer Aniston (who was a background extra) and Christine Ebersole (who played the Mom)
The dummy in the wheelchair off the cliff was gold, The football players had me dying laughing but When Max hit that step on the counter top I was done!!! That was the hardest I laughed in a WHILE! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 that whole scene is so random
In terms of ET and it’s ripoffs: The original ET is Leonardo Di Caprio, Mac And Me is Timothee Chalamet, and Nukie is Dane Dehaan. They’re obviously similar, but ain’t nothing like the real thing.
Was Mac affecting everyone's mood? Kind of like when ET gets drunk and so does Elliot. Mac was coked up and so was everyone else in the McDonald's. Also, Billy's, "the hubris!" at the end is perfect and meme worthy.
Gotta admit, I do kinda like the end where the aliens are sworn in and wearing normal human outfits. Both a funny image, and certainly not what I expected lol
As someone in a wheelchair with cerebral palsy, I think the failure of this movie exacerbated Hollywood's aversion to hiring truly disabled actors for a long time, lol! We wouldn't get another rollin' leading man until Micah Fowler in the show Speechless some 30 years later 😂. On a serious note, this movie, even while being an obvious ET rip-off with blatant product placement, was groundbreaking. It had an actor in a wheelchair for the leading role (Jade Calegory, who portrays Eric, has spina bifida), and it came out two years before the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Who woulda thunk? You guys did an awesome, thorough job, rather than simply copping out by putting Eric's infamous fall scene on repeat and calling it a review. I respect you for that. And yes, Billy's laugh is definitely iconic 👍👍
I'm actually a little surprised they didn't mention Jennifer Aniston's uncredited extra role in the McDonalds scene. It's nearly impossible to see her and know it's her, but she was in the film, has mentioned it several times in interviews. It's always kinda funny when bigger names in the industry show up in random shit that you never would have expected them in.
It's amazing how many ads are in THIS movie of all things when Spielberg couldn't get the M&M company to get on board only to opt out for Reese's Pieces to be used instead in one of the most iconic scenes in the film. My guess? Companies got mad FOMO after seeing M&M kicking themselves afterwards and just jumped on whatever was similar.
Man I was like 2 when E.T. came out and grew up with no VCR until I was about 8. I never really saw it except in bits and pieces on TV. When Mac and Me came out on VHS, my elementary school had it as one of the default movies for those days in Wisconsin when it was not a good idea to send kids out for recess. I saw this movie easily 20 times ( or at least the first half) . I have so many parts memorized. Didnt realize how bad it truly was for at least 5 years when I finally saw all of E.T.

No. 1 rule when reviewing a *BAD MOVIE* is to *ALWAYS* invite Billy.
And also Billy Laugh must Include every Bad Movies.
The laugh alone makes me comeback
He's the eye candy but also, laughs at anything funny,
Wouldn't be a Roast without him
Billy is the life of the bad movie roast. Everyone make a bad movie enjoyable with their commentaries.

Billy laughing in the first 15 seconds of these bad movie videos is what I look for every week 😂
Oh hell yeah. Its a really good anti depressant
It’s very annoying
@@OGMillyMillz_ I'm sorry you don't enjoy his laugh. All three of their laugher are the highlights of these shows.

He also ain't a bad actor. This movie's got a ton of problems and he ain't one of em.
Honestly one of the few things I respect about this movie.
Its bad, but I appreciate the representation and the kid does good despite everything.

@@samuraiturtle.2637except A quiet place is actually good.

Bonnie Swanson Syndrome

True!!!
Billy Laugh is the MOST LEGENDARY LAUGH
I've never heard someone genuinely yuck while they laugh, then I heard Billy.
I’m gonna say right now it would have been a crime against humanity if Billy WASNT on this review!!
He was sorely missed on their The Last Dragon review

why did they hint a sequel at the end?
@@pheunithpsychic-watertype9881 Yeah, although that was a retro review not a roast.

I think that clip Mandela effected me into believing they'd already reviewed this movie
35:50 love the delivery of "raggedy-ass bear" almost as much as Billy's reaction to 46:50
I have a friend who grew up watching Mac & Me and when she heard about E.T. thought it was a ripoff. What a way to live
E.T. is boring in comparison to Mac & Me
I grew up with this movie, i cant hate it. Plus, thanks to Paul Rudd and Conan, i have a new love for it.
I don't remember it at all.
@@ladyhotep5189 i only knew of it because it was recorded on a random VHS we had, no one EVER talked about this movie growing up, haha
