  • One of the largest locomotives to ever visit the Great Central Railway is the LMS Coronation Class No 6229 Duchess of Hamilton. It made two visits in mid 1990s and scenes from both are captured here by Roy Emmett.
The locomotive had an extraordinary life, being exhibited in America during World War Two and ultimately escaping scrapping by ending up on display at a Butlins holiday camp. It is now part of the National Collection and is on display at the museum in York.
Look out for spectacular cold weather run pasts with crisp exhaust and scenes of the loco working hard in a snowy Leicestershire landscape.
