- Taco Bell introduced the Gordita way back in 1998 and the Chalupa soon followed. I'm not sure at what point they decided to cover the gordita in melty cheese and wrap it around a crunch taco but that was a great day for the human race!

Pre Staled is a great explanation that’s Funny but sadly very True
Hmm. Another of your videos that managed to slip past me before now. That looks really good, I wonder why I never tried it. It looks a bit like the double-decker, only with cheese instead of beans to hold it together.
Bill you should make Del Tacos Big Fat Taco. I’m pretty sure it’s just a Gordita shell but man were they good
I love del taco but never had a fat taco. I will have to look that up. Thanks for the suggestion!
Hey, Bill! Awesome videos as looking forward to making some of these.. I love Taco Bell, no shame haha!
Any idea on how to replicate their hot sauce?
Thanks for the too kind words. I am thinking about trying to make the hot sauce live as a science experiment. Could be fun to show the process of figuring these things out.
Thank you, I never did get one of those either from the Bell. Looks great! Could I use lard for the shortening? I always have lard around here.
I have not tried it with lard so I can't say for sure. It may change is in some unexpected way BUT lard works great for flour toritllas so it is certainly worth a shot. Lard is probably a lot better for you than crisco anyways!
oh man i got home at a good time i am huuuuuuunngry
youtube recommended your og chicken sandwich vid this morning and im already on board
Mission actually makes what they call chalupa shells, which are the same thing as gordita shells, just deep fried. They are not good. Way too bread-y.
I need to make the home grown version. Back when I was a shift lead at taco bell cheesy gordita crunches were my favorite snack.
I'm a chalupa fiend and this recipe is spot on. You just have to fry them raw, before they turn into gorditas. These just have a lot better flavor than the taco bell version. Maybe it's more salt or just fresher?
@@Drive-ThruKitchen For sure, I'll be making this recipe soon and commenting the length of food coma it puts me in. ;-)
Could you please gather 1m followers and keep doing this. Thank you
I'm working on it!
