Honestly, no hate to the actress, because she did so good, but I can’t see Cairo as white, for some reason it just doesn’t click in my mind. I guess it’s just a testament to how well Cairo’s actress in the off Broadway version was, if the show ever went to Broadway, she needs to reprise the role.
This actress is a wonderful singer but I feel like Cairo needs to be black. There's so much racial subtext, especially in her decision to frame Mattie. To a white audience member, it might not make a lot of sense but Cairo knows that if they get investigated, she's most likely to be wrongfully blamed so in a moment of "kill or be killed" she convinces the team to frame Mattie, Riley (a white girl) wants to phone the police but Cairo knows the police won't protect her.
@ANA OLIVEIRA yes i am full Latina and i live in the US. with the recent stuff that’s happened, it’s pretty scary. preston max allen did a wonderful job of showing cairo’s fear without explicitly having her explain it to riley. i think that’s part of why i love this musical so much, the representation is very realistic.
No, but Celeste and Caroline have a higher timbre than Wonu and Lauren so it sounds slightly higher. Plus the piano without the other instrumental contributes to that too
why'd i have to find out and become obsessed after it closed :((
Same :(
Do you guys have a bootleg or a link or something pleasee 😭
@@driftwood_ride_the_cyclone If you search "we are the tigers the breakdown scene" the first result has a link for it in the description
Celeste (Riley) played Chess in the off bway production! She’s amazing. This is one of my favourite songs, they nailed it
Also I think Cairo was Caroline Lellouche? She was an understudy in the same production as Celeste
@@charlottethatgirl1375 Yes, she was an understudy
Her voice is great, but she'd be wasted on Riley. Chess is a much better character.
@@charlottethatgirl1375 of lauren to be exact
now i wanna hear celeste sing the breakdown.
my therapist: white cairo isn't real, she can't hurt you.
white cairo:
Exactly my thoughts

yoo this is so good!!
celeste reminds me so much of rowan blanchard before gmw ended
I can see it and now all I can hear is a grown Maya and Riley arguing
She reminds me of Rowan Blanchard and Summer Fontana 😅
celeste!riley we love to see it
Great song :)
Omg she played chess in the off-Broadway 2019❤

@ANA OLIVEIRA yes she was. that’s why it was so easy to pin it on her. it’s really dark and sad but it’s true.

THIS MADE ME LAUGH SO HARD THANK YOU
I cackled lmfao
it just dosnt hit the same as wonu and lauren
Is this in a higher key than the cast recording?
No, It's because it's in piano

Yes this is a higher key 1 step up. The end note for Riley usually is a Db here it is an Eb the “me”
when you- kids would start to laugh
