The problem with the Industrie 4.0 and IIoT initiatives is that people like this guy from those big companies keep throwing buzzwords at your face without telling you how they can actually be achieved. That is why today when people in the industry hear those terms like "Big Data" or "IIoT" they run away as fast as they can. We need more process experts and fewer "data scientists"!

We actually need more knowledge sharing and educating of the workforce, sadly buzz words are used as marketing tools which exaggerate the concept when something as simple as connecting your ERP and MES could be classed as Industrie 4.0 and this is something which was possible a long, long time ago...

I think he was trying to explain the concept of Industry 4.0, but in fact, not most of people who are at room can understand everything deeply. If I were there, I would be the similar situation.

Why RFID? isn't QR code cheaper to implement?

+cheng chen Yes, the cost of QR code is much cheaper than that of RFID. However, when it comes to data capacity and scanning speed. RFID is a better option. For example, the data capacity for RFID can reach around 4 million characters compared to 7000 characters for QR code. In terms of scanning speed, RFID scanner can communicate with multiple tags at the same time. Hope it helps.
