i first saw this clip from Disgaea2 on ps2 and that was my first experience of disgaea series. they had this clip on the menu i can select and see. I never understood why this even existed. but now that im playing Disgaea PC version on steam, i get it now XD
Ultimately, I enjoyed both stories written by Atsuhiro Tomioka and the duo Takehito Harada & Arashi Shindo. The anime made me enjoy the characters in unique, believable ways (except in the first episode. That was the wackiest). Playing through the game then watching the anime shed some light on questions or plot holes within the game, or even made me laugh or cry more at the jokes and sad moments. I really... really loved the build up of the subtle jokes. And boy, the anime did really well on leaving such a great mark of a rewatch-able anime. Zero fluff for the definitely underrated cour anime that is amazing to watch in both English dub and Japanese dub. :)) I watched it in both. No matter what demonic or angelic opinions anyone has, it coexists, and I respect all of those ideas. Props to the Dark Assembly earning enough funds for their mobile game, and I hope to see further production for animated films or games in general! ❤️

In disgaea 5, besides her catchphrase pyon, (bouncing sound, you know, like a rabbit) she also uses desu in its full form unnecessarily and at least to this foreign learner it gives her a childish, whimsical yet formal tone.

It's funny that some people here are dissing the Japanese and some people are dissing how the dub sounds in the English trailer comments. Also, apparently the english dub actress for Etna in this trailer didn't go on to dub the anime series. Now I listened to both versions of Etna. I think they're both good and they have the same energy. If you close your eyes listening to the US Etna, especially in the beginning, you could also envision her as a 10 year old boy in some kid anime dub.

I agree that I wish the anime was really more like the trailer. but nothing to complain it had its good points. The only easy thing they could of fix was the animation. At some points it got sloppy. But too bad still great and it totally got me in Disgaea!!! Yay! And they should really make an anime for the other ones. That would be so cool.

Rewatching this always makes me wish there was more Disgaea media. Even though there are like 8 games and a handful of spinoffs.

disgaea just doesn't have the budget to support a high quality anime... hell even pre- awakening fire emblem is more mainstream than disgaea.
