Great video. And I watched all the others about the tannins problem, they were very helpful. But I have another issue.
So, I live on the lake and our water is from the lake - there are lots of tannins there. The height of the ceiling in my pump room is 45". I cannot find anything like those HUM Tannin Filter systems to fit in there.
Any recommendations? 2 people, 1 bath, 1 kitchen, and laundry
For now, I am using 5 filters: 5-micron Sediment -> 1-micron Sediment -> 5-micron Chlorine, Taste & Odour. It works, but I replace filters every 5-8 weeks

In situations like yours we install this tannin filetr in the closet waterestore.com/products/hum-tannin-water-filter-removes-colour and run the pipes under and then up and down through the floor.

@@GarytheWaterGuy Thank you for your suggestion. It is probably the only way.

Quick question. I see that Iron out advertises being friendly to all softener systems. Can iron out be used in a brine well on a tannin unit like other softeners?

Great question but no. You should use citric acid like this waterestore.com/products/citric-acid-tannin-filter-cleaner. This video shows you how ruclips.net/video/c8QKYr3B02I/видео.htmlsi=InnB4lEMbwQAkHBo

Hi Gary, I stumbled on your videos for the last handful of years. We have a cottage on a small lake and get a lot of tannins in our water. I was thinking about putting together my own tannin filter. It looks like i may be able to get a mineral tank for a few hundred bucks, possibly a less. I also have a spare brine tank. I haven't looked into any other costs yet. Resin etc. Do you have an opinion or a video on someone doing their own tannin filter system ? I'd love to hear any thoughts you have.
    Thx

I wouldn't. The tannin media is extremely expensive and the valve is expensive too. I suggest buying a complety engineered system like this one, that way you know that it will work. waterestore.com/products/hum-tannin-water-filter-removes-colour

Thanks for the reply. So I'm finding these materials for around $400-$500. The lowest price tank, (fleck 5600) Amazon/ebay cheapo special is around $1000 - $1200.
Curious what it is I'm missing? I've been do it yourselfer my whole life. I own a construction company and 15 homes. If this can be done, I want to do it. Always meant to look into it for another home we own on the other side of the state. I should've made a purchase 10 years ago when materials were a lot cheaper. Never did and now it makes me really want to put one together myself. Appreciate your original answer, but I'm curious where that extra cost is coming from.
      Thx

Do you sell Tannin Media, and what about the small rock that goes at the bottom of the tank?

Is there a certain type of tannin media that works better than others? Thinking of replacing mine. And when you say cleaning the resin with citric acid? How do you do that

This is the tannin media I recommend waterestore.com/products/tannin-media-1-cubic-foot and this video explains how to clean with citric acid ruclips.net/video/c8QKYr3B02I/видео.htmlsi=InnB4lEMbwQAkHBo

Is citric acid better for cleaning tannin resin than soda ash?

All I have ever used is citric acid, I know that it works.
