I love your videos! Gardening tip: press your nails in a bar or soap, such as dove, before putting in dirt. This will keep your nails from getting really dirty!

Tip: when you're putting plants from the pots into the soil you should loosen the roots, kinda separate them so that they're not in the shape of the pot to make them grow faster :)

I see you were working with shears (the tool that broke, long handles, long thin blades). For larger branches, loppers (short thick scisor blades with long handles) cut throgh branches up to 2 inches thick like butter.

When we were young, my husband and I rented a home where the back yard was a mess. We cut down overgrowth and made a nice yard for our children to play in. The landlord made us pay for half the hauling away of the brush. Not nice! Nice to see young people take pride in their home and yard. You remind me of myself. With all of the work you have done and all of your own money you spent, your landlord should love you!

Im so happy to see a hispanic person taking care of their home even if it a rental. Most of us say we dont have to cause is not our house and is for the landlord to clean it or fix it.Or they have all the junk in front of the house and them when a neighbor or someone call the authorities they say is because we are hispanic.Im hispanic and now I own my house but when I was renting I always kept the house,front yard,and patio in top shape cause I was the one living there and not the landlord. Maria Betancur no one should say they won’t take care of the home they live in because it’s not theirs. That’s terrible. Every apartment or home I or my family and i have rented we have always left in better condition than when we moved into it.

Amazing! One tip: as stubborn as most of us are, wear gloves when gardening! There are lots of soil-living bacteria that like cuts in our hand and can cause some serious issues! Stay safe everyone.

You are so hard-working and that made such a difference in your yard. When you have to do the work yourself, you enjoy it twice as much when it’s all done. And you are right about renting: it’s YOUR home and you have to do your best to make it beautiful and can’t just wait for the landlord! I’ll bet you are proud of your lovely place.

To help get rid of all the dead leaves, leftover food, etc, getting a compost bin is extremely eco friendly and saves you using plastic bags. When the things inside your compost bin have finally turned into compost it's an amazing fertilizer for grass! Absolutely love your videos by the way! ❤
love this!! Little Tip: when planting, it helps the roots when you "rip up" or spread out the bottom of the potted plant before you put it into the ground! (:
Lots of hard work you guys did. Your little daughter was very impressive helping to remove the big cut branches away. You are setting good examples for her to learn the satisfaction of working hard together to reach goals, the joys of creating a lovely garden and pride of taking care of your home. Bravo parents! I have a tip to share that is cheap and easy. You can even use this method directly over weeds and grassy areas to create new garden plots. Next time you clean the planter areas, just put a layer of yard waste where you eventually plan to top it with mulch. Next, lay down a thick layer of newspaper. About five to ten sheets per section is enough. Then soak it well with water. After that add the 2nd layer of yard waste on top. Next step is to top with plain, non plastic coated cardboard. A single layer will do. Just make sure to overlap the edges so no weeds get a chance to pop up through any cracks. Thoroughly soak the cardboard with water after laying it down. The final layer will be your mulch and you're done. This method is called chop and drop (the dead and green plant waste) composting ( the brown paper matter). It's also the easiest nontoxic way to kill weeds and create new compost. No need to till or turn over the soil which in gardening circles is called "no-till gardening". Eventually it will all decompose naturally and you will have created new rich dark compost. You can then plant directly into it if you want. Hope this helps next time you find the need to weed. Firstly how great the variety is with your videos, you really try to change things up so it's interesting and it shows
Secondly you don't have to apologize for asking perfect strangers not to come by your house, I'd hate it being done to me
Thirdly your kids are going to grow into hardworking respectable adults all because their parents set a good example, you should be very proud of yourself and your husband
Forthly I love how you and your husband always make the best out of your situation, you don't whinge about what's happening you turn it into something positive
Fifthly if I was your landlord I'd be busting my ass to keep you happy, it's so difficult to find go tennant's that if something ever breaks in that house he should be onto it straight away to keep you happy. Anyway that's the end of my rant, I'll shut up now 😊

Even if I lived in a place for just a year, I’d want it to be pleasing to look at!! Took me a while to realise this after renting the last 4 years.

Love your dog ‘helping’ you dig holes! Lol This is the motivation I needed today to pressure wash the back patio. You did a great job w/ your gardening when you say you’re new to it. Gardening is my passion for over 40 years - You did great! Awesome instincts when you saw the worms - great dirt & putting it to use shows your love for our earth. I live in N. FL, so our gardening/plant choices have to be different - Your choices were great for year round, lower maintenance. And the flowers you picked, begonias, will come back every year. You can also break off some of the leggy begonia stems and just stick them in the dirt & they will regenerate & eventually that area will be nice and full w/ them. I live begonias b/c of that - & they are cheerful. They can bloom year round here in FL if you keep cutting back a little at a time & replant the trimmings. They’re always the first to bloom in the spring & last to bloom in the fall when we have below average winters. They may look like they die, but they will come right back w/ a little trim after last frost. So impressed by you! Going to pressure wash now! God bless you - such a gentle nature with such strong will & love. ❤️

I'm a young seventy something, and I love what you did to the yard. The flowers you planted, the red and green leaf those are begonia plants they bloom all summer and into the fall, sometime when we clean the yard after everything has gone to sleep for the winter, they are still blooming. The hosta plants , that's the one up against the wood it come back every year. When they get brown and ugly I cut it them down to the ground and next spring they pop up, this is the time you can take them up and divide them into many plants. I started out with just 2 from homedepot now I have them all around my property.because out one plant, you can have about ten or more separate plant. Once you dig them up you'll see what I'm talking about. plus every year they get bigger and more beautiful and you don't have to do anything to them but water them. If I was your landlord, I would love to have someone take care of my yard the way you do. Many blessing to you and your family.

Careful to power wash with closed toe shoes. My sister accidentally sprayed the top of her foot. It did skum damage like a burn and it had to be cleaned at the emergency room. She was also given medicine because of possible blood poisoning from the wound.
This is my first time seeing a clean with me but outside. Most people do it inside around the rooms and such so it's nice to see someone taking one step forward and cleaning their backyard

Gardening tip #1, when digging a hole for a plant, use a spade, not a square nose shovel. I love that you take such pride in your surroundings.

I’ve spent like 6 hrs - taking old grass away , turning soil and replanting seeds , such a workout and do things little by little. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 kudos . Amazon is great for gardening tools . I bought leaf blower / mulcher/ vacuum , the clippers , even perennial seeds ( wild gorgeous flowers) , energizer solar lights that make the potted plants at the front and grass seeds etc . You’re getting practice once you own your home and y’all will enjoy the backyard in the meantime.
