It was a big upset, but I don't know about its historical standing. Alma has a real good team and Mount Union was only a 17 point favorite in this game, even at home. Now granted a 17 point favorite is pretty large, but Mount Union is usually a 40+ pt. favorite in their second round games. That means while MU were expected to win, Alma was still given a reasonable chance by the market makers. The Purple Raiders looked a little shaky for a while playing cupcake Alfred State last week, and I think some of the next tier teams are starting to creep up a little on the top tier dominators, although North Central looks like they're in another atmosphere right now.
Congrats to Alma. They blew up the Death Star. As a Baldwin Wallace student/announcer, I couldn’t be any happier with the outcome. Best of luck to the Scots
It doesnt happen that often because the skill gap is incredibly large between the top schools and the rest at the D3 level. The best schools basically recruit and hoard a very large number of athletes, the majority of which will never play a significant down at a place like Mount Union, and its no skin off their back because its not like they have to waste a scholarship on them or anything. There are many many D3 schools that are basically a high school skill level team. Recruiting and building up a program at the D3 level is very very difficult because the big schools can offer tons of kids without having to worry of scholarships and then they hold those kids there so no one else can have them.
One of the biggest upsets in D3 Football Playoff History.

My nephew plays for Alma, and my whole family was nervous during this game.
But mount union has 13 national titles so it don't matter lol

That's so cool man! I'm sure you've got some crazy stories to tell about the games you've seen at BW.
@@The-D3-Zone unfortunately I do
mount union miracle
@@lawyerpenird1 easily the most painful moment as an announcer and a fan
@@WHBWSportsman I played and started at Marietta from 2019-22 and BW was a tough freakin team every time we played
Alma College Scots…great win! Let’s go all the way
We need more upsets like this in D3

Anytime whitewater, mount union or MHB lose, it's a great thing for D3!!
Nice to see a new king
Great day to be a Scot!
My dad coached at Alma in the 70s. Great win
I'm glad Mount lost - serves them right for charging for the livestream.
Sick of them winning all the time anyway lol
The Alma Scots definitely pulled the biggest upset in College Football history. Congrats
Can you post wartburg next pls, great upload
Yep! Probably tomorrow. :)

Fascinating!!
Why is the MU stadium so empty?

IT'S CHAOS TIME! Can't wait to hear the breakdown on the show this week!
Go Scots 🏈🏴
It's hard to believe that Mt. Union is not too g to the championship game. They're almost always there. How many have they won?
Mt. Union has won more than their fair share
Mount union has 13 division 3 national titles the most of any team
@@kennethseay5277Mount union has 13 division 3 national titles the most of any team
This Scots team is legit🔥
But they lost in the quarterfinals smh now North Central Illinois is legit legit🔥🔥 hopefully they beat Wartburg in the semifinals
Who does Alma have next week? By the way I honestly thought Mount Union was gonna beat the crap out of these guys.
Don’t know your team….Go Scots….they are a second half team. Happy for them sick of Mt Union
@@darcyhodges309 yeah the only reason I know so much about Mount Union is because I live in Ohio so they’re really close by
@@darcyhodges309 i’m honestly not the biggest follower of Division III football but I’m trying to get into it
Alma hosts Cortland next week in their Quarterfinal game.
@@The-D3-Zone all right thanks who does North Central have?

There goes the season 😔

Terrible defense by MU.
They had great defense 95% of the game. It’s just that Alma is the kind of team that can really bite into that 5%
go scots
