The thing about a tutorial like this is that, whilst I don't know how to subrtract or other things you do, I now know that it exists and I can find tutorials tackling those specifics!!!!
Yea. My videos are not really meant as a tutorial you can just follow 1:1, but rather a video that sparks an idea, and shows you maybe a different method of doing stuff. It's definetely not meant for beginners
LG
Hello, i am making a simple simulation of boat. With the purpose that this simulation can give me best shape of a lower part of a boat in water and that boat has good aerodinamic. So i can make it in real life. Do you have any recomendation about how do i get to this shape without using programming. I am on a schedule, so i would be very happy for answers. Thank you very much!
CTRL+R to add a loop cut. Before pressing left mouse button to lock it, you press E. Now it will take the curvature of one of the two edges you are in between. You can switch between the edges with F. A bit hard to explain. Just press E once, and then F to switch sides
for a usable model you can put like in a game, make like you would build a ship, same order of steps, doing this will not be in any way good, maybe for some distance mesh thats very far away.
@@tysonboss2072 to be honest, I don’t really know. I probably spent 3-8 hours a day on it. But the main reason it took so long was due to me wanting to match it 1:1. If I would do it today, I would not spend nearly as much time on it
@@mlt-studios At 2:30 the ship is very smooth all of the sudden and has lots more geometry? Did you just add loop cuts or what? If you could answer this it'd be a great help.
@@1000Suff ahh, I thought you wanted to know, if I permanently had a SubD modifier active. What I probably did at that point was to crease all the hard edges, add a SubD modifier and instantly apply it. Just to get more topology to work with and smooth the curved surfaces. Sorry, my bad
I grade my renders in Photoshop. Since it is not free, like blender, I feel like there would not be many people interested in that. But maybe I‘ll transfer it into a short blender tutorial someday
Hello, could we talk on cord? I cannot figure out a lot of things and It'd be so cool if you could help me with some modeling. You really are inspiring me to model and I am making a ship rn but ran into some problems when using subD modifier. But please don't ignore this.
@@1000Suff This is the video I mean: ruclips.net/video/0Q7N_N5F8DY/видео.html The Video is in Maya, but it's the same thing in Blender So I basically crease all the big shapes and edges I want to keep, and when I add and apply a Subsurf modifier, all the other stuff gets more smooth and round. This is how I smoothed the corved surface of the ship, without loosing the the hard edges.
Most of my modeling skills I learned from Andrew Hodgsons Twitch streams. So you might want to watch some of his VODs he uploaded to youtube, If you want to improve your modeling skills in general.

Nice. Your workflow is inspiring and satisfying lol. I got to get better with the knife tool I see everyone use it to model and I never remember it.
I hope im this efficient with blender one day, strong work!
Wow, I didn't know taht modeling a ship would be as easy as this. Great job.
wow thats amazing! i build the ships in minecraft and render them afterwards ig both are cool and very creative ways with requiere a lot of skill!
Just, Wow.
you made look so easy, amazing!
Amazing work!

You mean the wireframe view? Shift+z
@@mlt-studios yes. Thank you 👍
What about zheng he's massive ship?
Damn that's amazing I'm struggling so much rn with trying to make the hull
Theres not really a trick here I think. Just a lot of practice

Hello man i saw on the minute 0:50 the cut u did was curve and u did something and it turn in straight line can u tell me how u did that ?

HOW MUCH TIME did it take you in hours? you say months but like how many hours per day typically. Thank you for reply.
This ship? It just took maybe 5 days with 2-8 hours
@@mlt-studios no, the ship which took you 4 months

COOL!!
did you use a sub division surface modifier?
On what do you mean? The ocean?
@@mlt-studios On the ship to make it look smoother.
@@1000Suff no, the ship is not SubD. It’s pretty messy topology with lots of ngons, so a SubD modifier would not work.

How did you add ocean?
There are a lot of tutorials online talking about that. I think I used this one: ruclips.net/video/CwJrb3vjAaA/видео.html

how did you texture the ropes??????
Not at all. I just added a simple dark/black shader with some roughness. thats all
@@mlt-studios you did! I mean the ropes that are tied around the mast. I think i have found a way, but i hope you have a better one for me
@@shmeerlubs5506 ahh, that. I just googled for rope texture. You have to make sure the rope is UV’ed correctly, so one long seam along the rope.
