    That krylon No runs plus glossy coat was already built in the paint pre installed for one coat. the first attempt looks pro no sanding..let sit in the hot sun..Didn't have luck with rustoleum ,metallic looks like storm clouds and my crackly feet..After I added their rustoleum clear coat.

    If I use a textured paint, will that cause problems with applying a label and getting it to stick?

    • @StompBoxParts
      @StompBoxParts  8 месяцев назад

      Depends on how textured. If you're applying waterslide/sticker/label that cover the whole face of the pedal, the texture may cause issues. Smoother or flatter paints will work better in that case. If you must use textured, you'll probably need to apply several layers of clear coat to smooth it out a bit.

    What is gained with sanding in between layers? Others recommend it but you're not doing so and this result seems fine from what I can see.

    • @StompBoxParts
      @StompBoxParts  Год назад +1

      If the paint is still wet do not sand. If the paint is dry, sanding will help the new coat stick better and flattens out the dry coat. Certain finishes (like hammertone used in this video) simply don't work with sanding because you'd be sanding off the hammer texture.

    For the labeling, did you perform the same steps you did from your "How to Add Labels.." video?

    • @StompBoxParts
      @StompBoxParts  3 года назад +1

      For the pedal graphics in this video I used a vinyl stencil. You can insert just about any method of adding labels in that section of painting your pedal assuming the base coat in dry enough to handle. Stencils, decals, stamps, etc.

    • @TrippLilley
      @TrippLilley 2 года назад

      @@lonewolf42187 yes. You can use a Cricut either to cut stencils for painting labels, or to cut vinyl labels to stick directly and then clear coat over to protect.

    If I want my pedal to gradually degrade and chip overtime, could I just only do the base coat? Or would it all come off quite quickly?

    • @StompBoxParts
      @StompBoxParts  3 года назад +1

      That would be an option, but clear coat might be necessary depending on how(/if) you're labeling. Or skip the primer. It'll chip much quicker without the primer.

    Do you use any sort of naphtha or acetone after sanding to clean the pedal prior to primer?

    • @StompBoxParts
      @StompBoxParts  3 года назад +1

      Soap and water to clean, wipe it off and let it air dry like in the video. You could use naphtha or acetone or isopropyl alcohol to speed up the drying process but it's not necessary.

  • @jimwheeler5278
    @jimwheeler5278 3 года назад

    Any reason I wouldn't want to use a base coat paint that includes primer, like Rust-oluem Painter's Touch 2X Ultra Cover Paint + Primer? Could this remove the primer spraying step completely?

    • @StompBoxParts
      @StompBoxParts  3 года назад +1

      Might work fine for you but I can't know for sure. The typical downfall of paint/primer is that it isn't made to adhere well to metal, thus why we recommend the self-etching primer.
