- With all the hype around the NBA Draft, no one is talking about how sneaky good the Memphis Grizzlies are going to be. They finished 2nd in the west two years in a row before the Ja Morant suspension and we were high on their bounce back chances even before they got an absolute STEAL in drafting Zach Edey...this 7 foot 4 BEAST who dominated at Purdue is the perfect fit to go along side great defenders already on the Memphis roster and they are now built to compete with the Denver Nuggets, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Los Angeles Lakers. It pains me to say but the Memphis Grizzlies are going to be a BIG Problem for the West and the NBA as a whole!

Purdue fan here. Memphis fans will LOVE Edey. As soon as he learns the speed of the game, he is going to be a problem. Best work ethic I’ve seen in a while.

I compared Zach to Joel Embid, when Embid was drafted they said that he is slow, but now Embid shows how dominant he is as a center, he carries his team all the way to become a contender and Embid is nominated as MVP.

The draft was great, but believe it or not, Ja being suspended was the best thing for the Grizzlies. Bane and Jaren got significantly better while being the #1 options. Also Vince Williams Jr and GG Jackson wouldn't have been discovered.

I love the most are the crazies who said my man would be drafted late in the 1st round or 2nd and he can't play in the NBA. Most of those crazies are turning tail and either silent or now a fan.. gotta love people.
We got a replacement for Steven Adams with more upside, a 3 point shooter for the bench. Now all the sudden we are looking alot like the 2nd round playoff time 2 years ago. Like that team we have depth again off the bench. Ja missing a truckload of time and getting the surgery is hopefully a 100% healthy Ja and the few games we saw him he looked like the Ja of old. I think Ja takes a step forward and is a clear cut 27.5-30 PPG player, with 8-10 assists and 5-6 Rebounds. We have the size now to contend with you nuggets and wolves, and a big body to deal with Wemby if they surprise the league and become a playoff team. Grizzlies future is bright again.

As a Grizzlies fan, I’m glad the talk about us isn’t as loud, we play better when no one is thinking about us, not when there are massive headlines about the wrong reasons and everyone has a reason to hate on you

Grizzlies starters only played 21 total games together in the 2 50 win seasons before 0 games last season. Health is by far the number 1 question.

Purdue student here. Watched Edey on the final run and he will thrive in the Memphis system. Ja, Bane, GG, JJJ, Edey will be a fire young core. Also they have bench depth which a lot of super teams are lacking

Expectations are make it to round 2 of the playoffs minimum in my eyes. Edey should make the national team for Canada, which will be high level reps and could see summer league play as well. So he should be able to step in and be a 15ppg-10reb type guy with 2+ blocks

Flowers, Flowers, Flowers to the Grizzlies front office. They have strategically and patiently have built this team mostly through the draft. There are 2 concerns with this group that concerns me : The core group of this team has had issues staying healthy and the 2nd there is a 2 year window with the present to make the finals before the young role players are due for new contracts.... but yeah, I'm excited as anyone _ but as a lifetime Memphian who loves the Tigers and Grizz _ another heartbreak is always around the corner....

I'm a Memphis Tiger and Grizzle fan, but ill be honest. The Grizzles will never win the CHIP. Never, they will make it to the finals, The NBA , Refs, And Vegas. Will put a stop to that. Guarantee it! They will get ho Hype until they win 2 rounds in the playoffs, then NBA ESPN, etc... will start hyping them up, But As much as i would like to see my team Win the chip. IT AINT HAPPENING> sadly.

Even with Ja Morant, they are not the same team from two years ago. They lost two starters: Dillion Brooks and Steven Adams. They are too small and lost their toughness in the paint. The Rockets are better than the Grizzlies and Dillion and Steven are the Rockets team
Anthony Edwards, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum are all better players than Ja. I’m sure I can make a few more.

That lineup won’t happen. Either smart gets the nod to start and play wing with bane and ja all on the floor, or smart comes off the bench and gg jackson starts, a bench unit of Marcus smart and Jaylen wells being the scorers who can create their own shot Vince Williams and Santiago Alana spotting up for the 3, and Brandon Clarke setting running the pick and roll sounds crazy

It was Chris Tucker (Rush Hour 3) not Chris Rock.. sorry to be that guy but yeah. Funny quote from that scene.. "I don't know what the hell you are feeding him, but he is too damn big..". I didn't realise he was fast, I don't watch college ball these days so when we drafted him I saw some highlights and commentary.. no one mentioned that he could run like that. I don't consider him to be very athletic by modern standards, but it also shows that he has some athleticism in his own 7"4 kind of way. What I do feel confident about is that he has solid very fundamentals, will likely have a high basketball iq and also seems motivated.

Anthony Edwards was the guy from the Twolves who you couldn't remember probably. And for the grizzlies they got a lot of young pieces who fit well together, Ja, JJJ, Desmond Bane, GG Jackson emerged as a player for them last year, and not a lot of people know Vince Williams Jr. but he had a good year filling in as a 3 and D guy. Even if the Griz don't resign Luke Kennard they still have the pieces to make a deep run if they can stay healthy. Edey on paper was the traditional 5 they needed. Hopefully they can get it done.

I read somewhere that if they give Seattle and Las Vegas expansion teams(which is in the works), and they both are in the west, to maybe realign and put Memphis in the east, since we are further east than any other west team(maybe Minnesota). Memphis would wreck the East.
As a die hard Denver Nuggets fan I sooooo agree with this 😂 I'd be over the moon excited to have them booted to the Eastern Conference. That arena is always so hard to win in.
