      Actually modern cars have control modules that fail, but they can't be tested, the only pass/fail is, if it works you've won, but it might have been another item that shorted out a good component.. 😮

    • @mutantplants1
      @mutantplants1 6 месяцев назад +15

      Often when a component fails, you replace it, expecting that to fix the problem, but then it doesn't. It could be that another component or system caused the replaced component to fail, or the failure of that component took out another component or system.

    So aliens can't fix their own ship so they hire a human. And then they immediately, before he even looks at the ship, begin to treat him with hostility, distrust, doubt, and disdain. So why did they even hire him!? If I was Jace I would have told them to go pound sand and fix their own damn ship.

      @NoNo-xh7ru re-read my unedited comment. I didn't mention any of the trades. I said less educated. Let me try again to try and make my point. People generally speak about what is in their hearts, if I am always complaining or always bragging about X, Y or Z (in this case money) generally this is what I am worshiping ( what is on my heart). If I had a dollar for every middle class and lower class American citizen that I have heard or read say, THE RICH must worship money because they have money or, if I had their money I would this or do that with it..... it is this person that is worshipping money so much they are always talking about it. My point is ,you don't have to HAVE money to worship money.
      Hope this clears it up for you.

    • @jimreimers4213
      @jimreimers4213 5 месяцев назад +1

      And the converse is also true, just because you have money doesn't mean you worship it. If they worship anything, they probably worship the work they did that earned them the money they have
      If you are doing something solely for money, odds are you'll be 1 very unhappy person.

    Here's another plot point that doesn't make sense. If the Acendants don't understand the interconnectedness of these massively complicated systems and figure their intellect would compensate, then how did they manage to cause the nearly undiagnostic problem with the coupling?
    In order to sabotage with that kind of sneeky efficiency they would have to be able to understand and manipulate the warships drive systems to cripple the ship without discovery. Jace found the problem but it took him weeks to find it. Then to form the supposition that it was coordinated sabotage would mean the saboteurs posses intellect and skills that later are said they don't truly possess.
    It doesn't make sense. Either they understand the complexity of the technology in order to sabotage it or they don't grasp it well enough to be anything other than reckless.
    It can be one or the other, but not both.

    Long time ago read a short story about an alien ship that landed on Earth, first contact, by accident. Difficulty of doing repairs when you have to make the tools you need, oh, and make the tools to make those tools, and back about 20 steps.

    The rogue faction makes no sense. They complain about empire's stagnant state yet are described as beings that perceive adaptability and creativity as a weakness. ANd then in 30:30 starts another part of their description that is exactly the picture of empire we get in the 1st 30 minutes. Author seriously needs to upgrade lvl of his preparations before he starts writing. He needs to make a notes with descriptions of characteristics of the sides as an absolute minimum. Because he clearly is not doing it and we end with nonsensical story like this. BTW. we hear that "chaos" is an element MC wants to use yet comment from Valorian is that if smallest miscalculation happens they are f*cked. This doesn't gel together at all. Either it is chaos or it is precision. Can't be both. And then they have a plan requiring them getting inside the ship into the engine room. If you are getting this deep into the ship than why is your plan requiring f*cking with precision work and not with explosives. If there is an element that needs to be perfectly calibrated than I guess blowing it into hell achieves the same result without you standing there for couple minutes. Plus imagine this. Fraction that complains about stagnant empire, that uses it to sabotage empire's tech builds a ship that is even more voulnerable to the same BS they did than empire's ships.

    This story was pretty good. It has a couple areas that could use some clarification and a couple inconsistenties that stuck out a little, but overall it was a good tale.
    It would be great to have a few more stories that include Jace and Mira. Better descriptions of the aliens and Jace would help readers picture what is being read.
    Maybe some cultural background on the Volarian race would give some more depth to the stories.
    Are these stories written by the poster or by random authors? Ive been listening to quite a few SyFy stories lately, but I don't know what has been written by people and what are AI generated stories.
    How do readers know who the author is?

      I don't mind it. I'm so sick of sci-fi movies and tv shows portraying humans as one of if not the weakest species in the galaxy or always out matched in battles. Do Valorians have different eye colors or was this a little mistake in descriptors?
