Hi Adrian yeah it's a funny thing in some conditions I'm like ohh a tent might be nice but the weight of tarp completely wins and oh so often is plenty protection 😄
I have owned the Soulo and currently own the Enan, Nammatj 3 GT and Nallo 2 (plus assorted other tents). I find the Enan is a great lightweight option and also think the Nallo 2 is massively underrated. It’s the same weight as the Soulo and as strong for all practical purposes, particularly if you double-pole it, and yet gives you far more space and a very large and useable shape of vestibule. The only slight disadvantage over the Soulo is that it isn’t freestanding, but that probably doesn’t matter to many people.
Yeah I think free standing seems over rated imo it’s something messner bangs on about lol you still need to peg it out I’d not feel comfortable holding it down with just my big arse lol good collection there. I’d prefer Nammatj 2 over nallo is only difference for me. I’ve the Nammatj 3GT it’s lovely. Space rules
@@TonyHobbsI think for me the Nallo option of the door opening being on the end rather than the side maximises the practicality of the short ‘non-GT’ vestibule. You can simply roll it up or to the side and gain a lot of headroom in dry weather.
@missogyny4921 interesting perspective never thought of that. I prefer side entrance and feel it gives more room to get in out without bits in the way. Plus the extra guy lines adds lots of extra strength. But it's BL vs RL . Not sure fully understand extra head room unless you mean basically head room of sky with front rolled away. Thanks for extra perspective it's great hearing others thoughts.
@@TonyHobbsThat’s right - infinite headroom into outer space when you roll the door up! Great for cooking without the sloping front getting spattered or burnt!
Tony, have you tried the Nemo Fillo inflatable pillow, it has a lovely soft cover on and slightly padded, the reason I ask, is that the pillow on your video looked a bit uncomfortable and it looked like it stuck to your face, an interesting video, check out the pillow m8 Atb Adrian
It's the new Compo look lol unfortunately I forgot my t shirt so needed to wear something and bit warm for shirt all time plus didn't want all the girls falling over themselves looking at my hairy chest 😅
@ELUSIVEDARTMOOR what is your name if you don't mind me asking :) if you want even better mapping search talkytoaster mapping its dedicated for garmin and a brilliant highly recommended third party bit of software for full UK mapping which will probably be even better and it's only like £15 check it out. It has paths contours and names of loads hills and streets and is routable. It's like a must for every garmin unit.
Those Sea to Summit pillows often fail. Two of my three Aeros pillows failed, I left the third one with a mortar and pestle on it overnight, seems O.K.
It's Nuisance again....'Man Up'...get a cheapo self inflating mat..even if it fails you still have insulation. If bony old me can sleep on one Im sure you can as you got..'more padding than me"..LOL...as for "that tent"....I'll refrain, or I'll be here forever ..🤬😕😉😉😁..lotsa luv, Annie.
Any chance you can give us your opinion on which is the best GPS watch Tony ..personally i am not that bothered about all the bells and whistles . I just want to know which has the best mapping system and the simplest one to use. I am old school and always used a map and compass and will most likely still take them with me but because technology has become more and more reliable i think i want to step over to the dark side and give one a try but i dont want to blow a fuse trying to get my head around it ...i know watches are your thing but the only thing i use a watch for is the Altimeter to confirm my height every once in a while.
great vlog brother.. the only niggle i have with the soulo is the air vent system. i like air vents from side to side... may be im just a weirdo...still would buy it.. well thats a bit of a contradiction but hey ho..
Hiya yes the tunnel tent like nammatj etc are fab when not tarping it 😀 the pyramid shelters also excellent. I was just down your way with my trailstar
Hi Tony, no doubt it’s a strong tent, watching this hoping my tarp holds in the coastal wind, so this tent would be handy lol
Cheers Adrian

@@TonyHobbsodd thing is my tarps are 200 and 400 odd grams yet I sometimes carry a 1.5 kg bivy as well !!! Sometimes it’s what you enjoy
Cheers
@northumberlandmountainhopper haha yeah absolutely. That's a hefty bivy but if you enjoy it go for it. It gets you out in the winds closer to nature.
Nice 👍
I love my Soulo BL, totally overkill for 90% of conditions, but tbh that 10% when the weather turns and it gets nasty, I always feel safe.
Absolutely agree. Most get lighter and get out in sensible conditions etc until experienced enough to benefit from soulo.

Thus one ok but yeah nemo looks heavily luxurious might ne worth a nose for alternative when weight no issue thank you
Please refrain from wearing those thermals Tony. A scene from Pulp Fiction came to mind ! 😂

That made me laugh.
I use a garmin 62s off ebay cheap never gad problems with it
Garmin make good kit 👌
Did you mean the Fenix 6 ?
@Olan... I had to look up 62s it's a Garmin handheld GPS unit . I wonder if mapping can be put on it?
@@TonyHobbs yeah mine came with the mapping sim in it when you buy off ebay second hand make sure it has card or ask else you will send extra on one

I get through air pillows like nobodies business but they light so that's life 😆
