      @uberfu 2 года назад

@Lucid Strike - Decoupled mode On/Off does not matter in space after exiting QT. Unless thrust is active (coupled mode plus auto - where Auto cannot be engaged while decoupled) the ship will go nowhere beyond the QT exit spot - while in space. IF you are decoupled as you exit QT while going down to a planet city location - Yes gravity will take over and pull your ship towards the ground ending in a "boom".

    • @uberfu
      @uberfu 2 года назад

Rule of Thumb: No Gravity = No VTOL needed.
Also - Why Olli kept putting it in VTOL mode in space makes no sense. (1) VTOL barely works (2) VTOl on most ships is pointless until you get to ships like the MOLE /RAFT /Reclaimer etc ... where they are weighted heavier than the base thrusters can handle - the Constellation is not one that needs too much VTOL - and definitely doesn't do anything in space.

Hi and welcome to the Verse, just a few things :
    - While there is no real consequences when you're in a hangar, try to take the habit to ALWAYS close your ships before leaving it, you don't want to see your fully quantainium loaded future Starlifter fly away without you because you let somebody take the control of it by letting the ship open.
    - Speaking of, yes it's nice to have a bigger cargo, but more risks of pirating come with it. Try to avoid the more obvious delivery roads. A good way to do it is to QT to a secondary road, interrupt your QT in the middle of nowhere and then QT to your final destination, doing this you will avoid being on obvious trading routes and QT interdictors ships as Mantis. Maybe also considering doing these high risks/reward routes offline, because stream sniping is a thing unfortunately in SC. Also notice that big cargos ships gets more attention, meaning you're not a noob anymore so pirate orgs who let noobs go their way should willingly attack you more.
    - And if you get caughed, well best thing to do is negotiation, it is highly appreciate by pirate orgs with ethics (Mongrel Squad for example).
    - About the 890, just know due to alpha state wipes are still possible (none have been announced for 3.17 though).
    Cordially

that's a fair point, and more over the biggest ships often have serious draw backs for a solo player. The Hammerhead is a prime example of a powerhouse that really needs a crew to be any value at all. To me this effectively limits any pay-to-win arguments as people who have pledged for the Hammerhead, Polaris, or even Idris are going to be wrangling up a crew to have any use from their major investment anyway. Meanwhile those who have played the game to grind for an Eclipse or Vanguard Sentinel or other single seat fighter can lay waste to those "pay-to-win" big ships just as easily as those who bought a dedicated fighter for their package.

Original backer from 2012 here and I think this man nailed it better than most when he said "it feels like a place". You can wrap it up in whatever words you like but that's what it really boils down to for me, the places feels like places, the things feel like things and while it still has a little ways to go, there are some NPCs who feel like people.
And a couple of pointers from a guys who's been playing fairly regularly for nearly a decade:
-When you drop out of quantum above a planet don't worry, you're not going to fall, it treats you as "in space" and even if your engines are off you'll drift to a stop when you leave your seat.
-If budget allows, get a HOTAS. Flying with mouseykeyboard is easier to begin with but once you get a little practice you'll find it has a fairly harsh skill ceiling, a HOTAS or even a plain old joystick will allow you to pull manoeuvres that are simply impossible with a mouse. And those landings will be a lot easier.
-the 'unlock' command in the cockpit has nothing to do with the snub fighter, it just allows strangers to push all the buttons on your ship.
-On the funding thing mentioned here, it's not actually in big numbers for a "triple A" game it is however the most successful crowdfunding campaign in history.
-And for new people, keep in mind it's been in a janky as hell alpha state for a loooong time and will be for some time to come so make sure you're ok with that before buying (minimum is US$45 last time I looked). Having said that for all it's faults it IS a lot of fun for all the reasons mentioned here and there IS an actual game to play.
-For the negative nellies, if you want to see an actual scam along these lines go have a look at Star Atlas.
And I'm gonna be a cheeky bugger here and throw in my own referral code😁STAR-9MKP-SL6L

You'll barely need to stop for fuel, and you keep a respectable speed, which is really good if you're chaining missions, or doing something like trading where your main focus is efficiency, so you wouldn't want to wait for your ship to refuel. Now the XL1 is good if you are doing activities within a sector/system i.e Sticking around a planet & its moons. But for long range travel, its not as feasible as you'll be spending profits refueling and time waiting on the tank to fill. But honestly anything is better than the stock Bolon.

GTA V has cost way more to develop and maintain than Star Citizen could even dream of (while initial budget was 250 mil, they have spent hundreds of millions since launch to maintain it). In fact, Star Citizen's budget year-to-year is lower than many AAA studios working on stuff like Assassins Creed or Call of Duty. (COD spends somewhere in the ballpark of 200-250 mil per year, SC spends about 80 mil).
On the bright side tho, I'm really glad you are having such a good time and have found some peace in this game. It really is something special and while we still have many many years to go (probably like 8 tbh), its already a wildly fun game and I'm super excited for the next 18 months of updates.

Welcome to SC and the Verse. I'm glad to see another happy member. The Starlifter C-2 is the Cargo king at this time with 692 SCU capacity. I see people talking about the MSR, that's not feasible as it only has 114 SCU of cargo space which is a fraction of what you want. Most people will be happy to help, but there is always the occasional griefer and troll online, just have to ignore those. If you ever want a tour and to fly the C-2 let me know. Happy hunting.

Would love to see you mining as I'm curious to mine Quant but haven't done it yet. Maybe you already did that. The 890J is cool! The Herc C2 is my favorite ship. :) Good vids, good editing, good narration and voice.
I totally get what you mean about the ads and how the 'Verse looks 'lived-in' and populated by companies, brands, ads, food, etc. It's all immersion, and it's just a fun place to 'be', similar to how Stanley Kubrick's slow pacing in 2001: A Space Odyssey lets us 'live' in the moment instead of rushing us through scenes. To me, SC feels like I'm the start in a Kubrick film (slow pacing), but with a modern hard sci-fi aesthetic similar to Blade Runner, Fifth Element, or Oblivion. When other games ignore details such as ship interiors or planet/atmo transitions, we lose a lot. The game is so good with these fundamentals that simply flying from place to place is extremely edifying, long before we worry about complete game loops, or all features and content.
CIG have built an extremely solid foundation, and I think we're seeing a critical mass of interest because of it. Thanks for bringing light to the game via your popular channel!

So just a few things to point out, that you may know already..
    1. It was the coupled flight mode that was stabilizing your ship like it was, VTOL really doesn't do much at the moment for most ships in terms of stability. (There is a weird thing with the landing gear down that can be useful but that's another deal)
    2. If your ship gets stored for timing you don't get fined for that, its no issue.

The Constellation was my first ship back in 2013, loved it from day one ;D. Still love it. Even while everyone was complayining about its hields back before the rework of shields.
10:55 you will only fall down on planet surfaces if you are in the gravity of the planet. As you arrive from quantum you should be far enough to not fall. With heavy ships like the Reclaimer you definitly feel the gravity.

Great Video! Welcome to the Verse. The Connie Class of ships are the bomb. The Constellation Andromeda is one of the best multi-role ships in the game. It does multi-crew, it bashes bounties, does decent for a mid-range cargo hauler, can carry a wide variety of vehicles. The biggest learning curve to it is just learning how to maneuver a big ship. I will say though, the VTOL functionality is not yet implemented on the Connies yet, but the doors are there for it when it is. Some ships like the Cutlass, Mole, or Prospector for example, actually fly different when in VTOL mode, the Connie flys the same doors open or closed. It does look cool though.
I have the C2 Hercules and I love it. I do however use smaller cargo ships to move Ore though. One lesson you learn in SC eventually is to "not put all your eggs in one basket" so to speak. There are still bugs that can cause you to lose ship and cargo. You don't want to lose too much in case one of those happen. o7

One of the best space games ive ever played, since 2015.
It was EXTREMELY rough in those early days, but the last 2 years have seen massive changes to the core game itself, with mostly if not majority of positive results from those changes.
It takes a long time to get where the game wants to go, but when it gets even halfway there, other dev studios still have 10 years of catching up to do. We're in it for the long haul, just like EVE Online players.
But i'll be honest about one thing the trolls say, they're right, for the reasons they dont comprehend.
Star Citizen will never be "finished", because it'll continually be updated.
Just as EVE Online still today isnt "finished", because it also continues to evolve.
So when someone asks "when is Star Citizen released?", simply answer, it is released, you can play it right now. It wont be "release-released" in the future, because its an evolving game, just like any MMO.
EVE Online wasnt finished on release day.
    Nor was World of Warcraft.
    Nor was Elite Dangerous.
    And thats a good thing.
"Holy cow, this guy said its a GOOD thing that SC will never be finished??! LOL OMG".
Yeah, because "finished" means its thrown to the side and forgotten, updates stop.
If you love a game, you dont want it to be "finished", people dont want EVE Online to be "finished", they want to continue playing through as the game changes, grows and evolves.
There's this weird myth that "finished" means that a game is better than something that isnt finished.
I dont think Aliens Colonial Marines, despite being a "finished" game, is better than Escape From Tarkov, which is NOT a "finished" game, and for the record, also has no release date. Yet there's no drama about Tarkov.
Why? Because its a good game. That's fun NOW, regardless of what label you attach.
Luckily Star Citizen has also become fun now, and hopefully will continue to evolve in the right directions.
"Finished" means nothing. It's today and the future that matters.

Just a quick correction, the game has been in development since 2011. It's not the most expensive game, but it does have the funding of a high budget "Tripple A" game but without a publisher.
I have been a long term fan of this game. Its development is slow, but it's consistent. The tech behind the game is insane, and it's only getting better. The trade off to this is that the game is very buggy, as features are added and altered it brings in or resurfaces bugs, and although there is a large effort every patch to fix bugs, a lot of patches can still be buggy. Performance improvements are constantly being made, but again some patches are more playable than others.
If you do plan on getting it you only need to buy a starter package, everything is/will be earnable in-game. You should also be aware this game isn't kind on hardware and it is essential you install it on an SSD, a HDD does not cut it, and will lead to an awful experience.
The SC community is one of the most helpful communities you will find, if you have any questions or issues never be afraid to ask, someone will help you.

@@SilverrulezGaming Keep in mind, this game is still in alpha. Yes it's been around for a decade, but they've built it from the ground up, including the game engine. As I understand it, they spent a year just creating the first planet. Of course, the more they create, the faster it goes as they can reuse textures and all that.
All that to say: there are bugs... Especially immediately after big updates.
I started playing immediately after an update was launched that implemented "death and consequences" - basically, when you die, you lose whatever items you have on you & if your ship explodes, whatever items are stored on your ship explode with it.
Ill reiterate the bugs...many of them lethal. Like walking into an elevator, the floor disappears & you fall to your death. Or running up a flight of stairs and being launched into space...to your death. Or the landing gear of your ship getting stuck IN the landing pad, so as you try to take off, your ship explodes...to your death.
Bye bye equipped armor, weapons, ammo, etc.
It taught me to "hold on loosely" and not get too attached lol and to be a minimalist when traveling.
All-in-all this game is in a league of it's own & is truly amazing - unless you are impatient, prone to anger, or inflexible with your expectations.
Cost wise, it can be between $30-50 minimum to get started with a basic ship. When you have extra money burning a hole in your pocket, you can buy another ship if you want or you could trade up - trading in your first ship + throwing in another $XX for a bigger, better or different ship. You can also buy and/or rent ships with in-game currency which is pretty easy to accumulate - especially with the help of a decent Corporation (basically a guild).
If everytime a person would normally buy a new mainstream game, they put that money into Star Citizen instead, I'm sure you can imagine how fast that would accumulate.
Last but not least, they just launched their 2nd major update since I started playing, and each one seems to get bigger and bigger. More ships, more features, more content, more bug fixes lol... Definitely worth checking out.
BTW they have semi regular "free play" events, where a person could try it out without the initial investment - at which point, what would you have to lose?

This may have been said already, but think of what’s been, and being done is laying the foundation for all to come. So many of the tools and tech has been created in response to the blockers keeping the game from being what it’s to be. Things like subsumption tech. Really CIG gas made some game tech they could in turn lease to other game devs. Crusader is the first fully rendered gas giant in any game ever. New tech had to be created to do that. Oh lord Robert’s hallowed be thy name. 😊 server meshing is what we are reeeeealy waiting for. Keep up the great vids.

It looks amazing. I wish I could play on console. But the small fighter looks like a Galactica star viper fighter

This game is the type of game that has the perfect development and discipline cycle in which most games lack. It may never be finished, but it won't stop being worked on. Never abandoned, but never finished. That's programmer art.

While it is true that most critics greatly overreact, „perfect development“ is not true either to be fair. At least not „perfect development communication“

@@soldatnrvier5816 My point is, the game may last longer than others in the grand scale. I know it's not perfect internally, as a game developer I already know this. No game has what I say is perfect development, but this one seems to do better in the regard of slow methodical development rather than fast and rushed development. I just hope it keeps up in this state. I don't own the game yet so I can't say for sure, but I've watched a ton of great content on it and feel comfortable giving it my praise.

This was the ship that first sold me on the game in 2015. I finally bought one in 2020 with the St Patrick's Day package. I love it and can't wait until smuggling gets implemented.

My only issue with the phoenix is that if you have a client, they have to enter through the grungy cargo elevator or the main lift. Main lift is not bad but it is in to the crew quarters.
Executive clients shouldn’t have to go through the crew areas in my opinion.
    Otherwise it is beautiful
