- In an interview with Variety's Marc Malkin, "9-1-1: Lone Star" actor Ronen Rubinstein officially comes out as bisexual and explains just how playing the character of T.K. Strand helped him come to the realization. Rubinstein called his awakening “a journey” that was enabled by his work as an actor. T.K. and his relationship with police officer Carlos Reyes, played by openly gay actor Rafael L. Silva, has certainly been embraced by fans of the show who have dubbed the couple "Tarlos."

I can’t recall a male public figure coming out as bisexual while actively in a long term relationship with a woman. I love it! Bisexuality exists and isn’t just an identity for people who will end up something else!

Most bi in the 2000s were camouflaging ourselves in the gay or straight world. Bi people got a lot of hate from both the straight & gay community so it was hidden.

by the way, he's an amazing actor, but with straight actors when they're playing gay, I can tell that they're acting, when the person is gay/bi doing a same-sex role, I can see the connection

I thought this was going to be a puff piece with a sensational reveal, but it was actually very measured and insightful. I was really impressed that he even mentions other countries where coming out is still a matter of life and death - this is why representation is so important, and these kinds of conversations are so vital. Kudos.
After watching this I got the urge to tell my mom I’m bi and I actually did it! And it went well, so I appreciate him so much for being open about this
Wow. Really happy for you. That was a VERY big step. So glad that conversation went well. Just remember that, as long as you are a good person who treat others well, you deserve to be treated well and loved just like anybody else. That thought kept me going in a lot of down times.

friendly reminder, if someone comes out or defines their sexuality as any member(s) of the LGBTQ+ community, please do not say "I was not surprised" or " I knew...it was kinda obvious"; phrases like that are not helpful. coming out is a hard thing to do and saying stuff like that is devaluing the importance of their coming out process. Just be happy and supportive that someone is choosing/is ready to come out.

I really love how his face lights up when he talks about the hot makeout scene of TK and Carlos. In a perfect world, nobody would have to come out. Being LGBT+ should be just as easy as being straight. Just being who he is should not have been hard for Ronen but sadly it was.
The smile on his face when he says he is bi! You can see the all the feels and I get it, coming out is so liberating when you're ready and do it on your own terms.

Without knowing it, Ronen has opened up discussions about bisexuality all over the world. He's famous and well liked especially by the younger viewers who not always have someone who talks to them, not at them. He is telling a whole generation that we know this isn't easy but there is more acceptance everyday. It's ok to be yourself. Just be safe and be careful. As a much older gay man I can tell you that we had no one and it scared the shit out of us to be found out. Now we have men that will stand up and say this is my truth. Love me or leave me the "f" alone. We have lost so many young people these past years so having Ronen step out will likely show him as a hero to the younger boys and girls. It's not a "shame to have to reveal ourselves".....as some may think..or say...for many it's support to know that here's a successful actor letting you know that it's ok just to be yourself. He's not telling you to jump out of the closet. He's explaining how it does take a long time and when you are ready, don't be afraid. Those who love you will continue to love you. Those that can't accept....do you really need them in your life? Be happy. Be strong and be supportive. It makes a world (and maybe a life) of difference. Cheers.

I love how he's being completely honest about his life in his home country/state or wherever he grew up. I love how he's being completely honest about his feelings, about the truth behind his life and coming out. I love how he isn't saying that it's easy to come out. We have also gotten in an era where even straight people have to come out. That they aren't gay but straight. Eventually it will equal out. Because the world is awakening that sexuallity is fluid. Whether you gay bi or straight it's okay. It's just an acknowledgement to confirm what you're into and who you like so others can be more understanding. It would not be fun if a someone said to a gay guy. "Owh that girl is hot, you should get that bro" If he knows his bro is gay he knows not to say those things because it would be seen as a joke 🤣
because people are automatically assumed to be straight, and have to come out as LGBTQIA. Plus, as he mentioned, there's countries where you're still targeted for being LGBTQ, representation and inspiration matters. Ronen has a heart of gold.

I don't even know why i am writing this right here and right now, but i just feel like getting this off my chest (and i'm sorry if my english is not perfect).
When the interviewer is asking why Ronen wants to talk publicly about his sexuality, I just want to say... Look at 5:50 , i mean look how genuinely happy he seems. Made me tear up. I personally am very well surrounded, and I realize how lucky i am, but still, figuring out my sexuality was (and still is) complicated. I was (and still am) afraid that I was faking it for attention or that this crush for this girl was a one time thing, i was basically afraid to not be legit (or is it legitimate 🤔 Sorry i don't have the best english). But then, seeing this man being so genuine and just being an hundred percent himself... Something happened. I don't know why because i know a few people very close to me who are proudly bisexual, and i am a teenager girl, i have more in common with this people around me than with Ronen, but somehow, something happened in my brain. I still don't feel a hundred percent safe, i still doubt (a lot) about my sexuality, but comming out as bi to a few people (thanks partly to Ronen) felt sooo good, and I think this is the most important thing. So a big thank you to Ronen for being himself. ❤

I love him and his character and I love him even more. I don't understand biphobia, I really don't many of it comes from the LGBTQ community.
I think it comes from personal experience. Alot of gay people said they were bi because it was easier for them to come out as bi vs. gay. For the record, I 1000% know people can be attracted to more than 1 gender. It really is a spectrum.

To be honest I just watched the bi bit.. I generally don't care what people say.. call bullshit when I smell it.. but this was one of the most honest to self bits out of Hollywood for a while.
