I can imagine Lance coming to your office acting like a Dealer.
The storage room reeked of roasted beans, not the usual paper and toner aromas. Jack, a nervous man in business casual attire scurried towards the shadows.
"You got the goods, Lance?" he whispered, eyes darting.
Lance, a burly dude in an apron, grinned. "Sure do. Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, fresh roast. Notes of jasmine and bergamot. But this ain't cheap, man. This is the good stuff."
Jack licked his lips. "Just gimme a taste."
Lance pulled out a small bag, the beans gleaming with oily richness. He handed it over.
"Whoa," Jack breathed, "that's... intense. I'll take it." He glanced around furtively. "You got anything stronger?"
Lance chuckled. "Stronger? Try the Kopi Luwak. But I gotta warn ya, that'll knock your socks off."

I've run my impact driver at full speed 3150 rpm on the hand grinder routinely, and I've not had a problem. I don't think they put such good motors in electric coffee grinders.

Love both comments from differing engineering perspectives.
I more agree with the "if there a tool for it, why am I doing it" mentality, except for my coffee.
I enjoy the manual grinding as part of my morning routine. The minor exercise, the organic nature of it, the daily reminder to be thankful for the comforts we have when we don't live in remote Provence regions, etc etc.
However.... I drink so much coffee, that I only handgrind a few times a day. For the rest I power grind. Capitalizing on the benefits of living within the limits of modern civilized society, and marvel at what technology is available, at our fingertips, to the "common" man.

Hi Lance, I recently bought the ITOP motor for my ZP6 and think it is a better alternative than both products mentioned in the video. It has variable RPM with a dial showing you the RPM you are setting it to, the hopper has a lid you can close and most importantly, it can go backwards to help with retention by pulsing the motor forwards and backwards a couple of times at the end of the grind. I was able to stall the motor at RPMs closer to 60 but by nudging it just a bit into the faster side it chew through the light ethiopian beans that I threw at it. IMHO the workflow of putting the grinder in or out of the motor is also quicker. Maybe you want to check that product out.

Nice. We are using a (for 2 years now) 1Zpresso J-Max hand grinder (we only make espresso coffee shots for lattes and never do drip or pour over). Grinding at espresso settings is HARDER than for other coffee processes (which use coarser settings). I didn't really know this until I opened the J-Max up 1 full turn to try some coffee cupping, and was like wow this is so easy! So we are kind of burning out on hand grinding these days. But rather than one of these gizmos I am looking at a real dedicated electric grinder of some sort.

EDIT, one thing ill mention for these kinds of products is that after you grind, sometimes a single bean or 2 might be stuck inside the grinder so I found you need to palm smash or poke those beans to get them grind...so these new machines might be a pain if you cant simply just use the hand crank on those last stray beans, small beans dont have this issue but larger beans can get stuck.

I find that handgrinding coffee is such a minor inconvenience that it feels unreasonable to turn one of these into an electric grinder or to buy an electric one. I can grind my coffee in about 40 seconds, which is way faster than the water boils, and my hand grinder isn’t nearly as fancy as the ones shown in the video.

thank you again.. I am in the early 60ies, just downgraded from various electro-grinders (Eureka, DF 64 and EMIL T64) to a like-new-used Kinu m47: I like the taste profile and work I have to invest, much more than the big electromechanical beasts; which , by the way, reach a comparable quality level only with a Lagoom-Style machine, which ist much more expensive (and expansive). the only negative side effect : I am awake, BEFORE I drunk my espresso. ;-)))
