The death wolf is literally one of the scariest villains ever in animated movies. This movie is way better than I expected.
Technically he’s not a villain he was doing his job, Puss was always abusing his lives and plus he is Death, The Grim Reaper.

@@Chillaccino1 Yes. He is literally Death and is the only one to make Puss feel fear, anxiety, and total cowardness about his fate from him. He is the most intimidating especially in 1 scene when Puss, Kitty, and Perrito are fleeing from Big Jack Horner. Puss thinks he escaped and will be fine but we first hear the whistle from The Wolf, then his deathly and dark stare and aura that strikes fear once again in Puss, knowing that Death is still coming after him.
DreamWorks have definitely been the successful underdogs this year!
In a year where Disney's animated films have failed, both of DreamWorks' films have been great!!!

Its clear they took inspiration from the spider verse and that's not a bad thing
They play with framerate and everything looks like it's an oil painting! The lineless look of the movie really pops out on you and the wolf antagonist?

One of my favourite villains of the year, genuinely I got goosebumps whenever he would show up on screen
And if you pay attention to how he enters the movie you'll get a hint to his real identity.
How they played with the very character of Puss and how this film deals with really mature themes but in a kid friendly manner
This is 1000% going on the list of films my future kids have to watch when growing up
The first film was pretty good, I'm not really a fan of origin stories usually.
This one blows it out the water however and man this is definitely an A+
The antagonists are fun, the references are not overbearing, the way they play on fairytales is awesome and the animation is stellar

The first Puss in Boots movie is one of the few “kids” movies that has a very real and intense feel to it! Still one of my favourite movies to date

My wife who isn't really into cartoon movies and went to see it so she could spend the day with me and our son, she cried. She told me she cried a couple times in the movie and really liked it
The fact that this takes place after Shrek 4 really caught my interest. Really raises the stakes too. Glad to hear it turned out great on your end, 3C. The Shrek franchise really needs this W going into the next main Shrek film. I’m probably gonna rewatch that 2011 Puss in Boots as a refresher before catching this sometime this week.

I’m actually someone who loved the first Puss in Boots movie and I haven’t forgotten much of it. I was a bit hesitant on seeing this new one before watching review but now that I know that this is actually a great movie, my doubts have vanished. Thanks Chris!

Haven't seen The Last Wish yet, but I did just rewatch the first one today and I actually liked it more than you, far from unremarkable in my eyes. I loved Puss and Humpty's complicated relationship, Puss' romance with Softpaws, and the emotional weight that Puss had when he was forced to flee his home.
Exactly man. The first Puss movie had great story and heart. It's too bad people don't really give it much praise.
I just saw this movie last night and I have to say....it is one of the best animated movie I have ever seen. It's just pure awesome and funny. I just love this movie!!! Can't wait to watch this again with my whole family. This movie deserves a nomination. I love it!!!

Had the chance to watch it 10 days ago thanks to an advanced screening and man I was mind blown with how amazing it was,it has a great story,great characters and character arcs and of course gorgeous animation,I’m personally hoping Shrek 5 has the same animation style and who would’ve thought the movie that went back to the Shrek franchise’s roots was going to be a Puss in Boots sequel,gonna watch it again tomorrow because this is a movie I just can’t wait for its digital release to rewatch,with The Last Wish and The Bad Guys DreamWorks definitely takes the W with animated movies this year.

This movie surprised so much especially with the wolf at first when it’s started I was amazed by the animation then the wolf entered and the entire tone shifted and I absolutely loved it it had me head over heels wondering when he would pop back up on the screen and the reality of how well u can connect to it is unbelievable I loved so much

I’m going to watch it later tonight. It looks gorgeous and great, the animation looks just like from Spider Verse, and it looks very vibrant in some scenes from the trailers. It seems like it’s got a good story behind it as well so hoping it’s a good movie 👍
DreamWorks always knows how to put love into most of their movies.
Just saw it with my little brothers a few hours ago and man....Awesome! I cried, I laughed and was really impressed by the scale of the story and the wolf is just👌This film needs to succeed and I can't wait to go watch it again.

This movie is amazing on so many levels. You can tell everyone involved took so much time and care to create the best movie possible!
I honestly like this movie more than even the first shrek film (2nd film is still superior though.) And this is in my top 5 films of the year, and one of my favorite dream works films ever made now. That wolf alone is 1 of my favorite things in animation period and is up to par with shen from kung fu panda 2. It legitimately gave me goosebumps every single time he showed up, Especially at the end when he does a growl right up in puss's face and the entire theater actually rumbled and shook. It was amazing.

Death really reminds me of Jack Rattlesnake from Rango. A side villain who challenge the protagonist but at the end, they show him respect to them and go away. THESE 2 ARE AWESOME, WITH À GREAT SENSE OF HONOUR

It’s absolutely breaking my heart that a lot of people won’t appreciate this amazing movie for what it is but will only take away that shrek 5 is teased. I’ve always loved puss in boots more then shrek and it’s such a shame that his movies, especially this one, will always be in the shadows of shrek.

I tried to avoid spoilers as much as I could and just watched today. Holy crap, I knew people loved it but I see why now. The wolf gave me goosebumps every time he was on screen, Perrito was so god damn adorable and the animation was gorgeous throughout. And the character growth with all the characters (even Goldi and the Bears) felt earned and made the movie even better. Also spoilers for the Wolf character;

I was so confused when this started getting rave reviews because this movie was nowhere near my radar. I watched it today and it was definitely the best animation movie I’ve seen in a long time
I dont think death necessarily a villan he was more of a punishment for puss as he didn't put value on his lives.
I just saw it today and I loved it. The wolf was amazingly scary. The way he whistled was spot on, and I hope they do more with him in the future.The animation was really good as well. This is different one of my favorite Dreamwork animations and everything was perfect.
It's 11 p.m. and I just finished watching the movie with my brother and my uncle and I'm not going to lie.

If you’re curious about the evidence that this’ after the Shrek movies. The 1st is when Puss is looking back on his lives and one flash shows Shrek and Donkey for a split sec. The 2nd is a spoiler for the ending, but Puss sails off with Kitty and the dog and he says “We’re going to see some old friends.” With the camera panning to a city that’s pretty Far Far Away

I'm not sure how I feel about them making the wolf character be an incarnation of death. It's pretty cool but at the same time it might be over-doing it a little. I would've liked it if he was just a skilled bounty hunter.

EDIT: I just realized something! In Shrek 1, they confirmed that the 3 bears were captured by Farquad, we even saw Mama as a bear skin rug! If that's the case, then how is Mama in THIS movie? 🤯
Given that Universal owns both Dreamworks and Illumination, it would be cool to see Nintendo work with Dreamworks animation as well like imagine a Star Fox or Splatoon animated film from Dreamworks in this style. After all Chris meledandri who help produce this movie is also producing the Mario movie.

I absolutely loved this movie. Almost as much as Shrek 2 which is my absolute favorite.

NGL, this movie and the original were so good and I didn't even know they were spinoffs of Shrek originally. So when I found out I decided to watch Shrek because this movie was so good. I barely was able to sit through Shrek 1 and I quit watching the second one 30 mins in. I'd rather they double down on puss in boots.
The first Puss in boots movie was for me was fun but still forgettable except for the Dance scenes. This movie took me by surprise, when I saw people praising this movie I thought it was over hyped but when I watched it for the first time at home it blew me away. The ending was so beautiful that it brought a smile to my face.
As much as I love the wolf character death. The villain I was was really excited to see was Goldilocks and the three bears 👧🏼🐻🐻🐻 I grew up listening to the story and it’s one of my favourite fairy tale story’s. So when I heard that Goldilocks and the three bears where gonna be in this movie oh I was excited.
It's not out in the country I'm in currently, at the moment, but when I go back to the States I'll definitely see it because of your review
