Good tips. Another one I remember is to look at how th ground slope before setting up your tent. You may wake up to a stream running through your tent! Won't do that again!
I can’t believe you forgot my favorite tip for “tenting in the rain”…buy a tarp and hammock instead. ☺️ Thanks for the video and now I guess we know why Squid has so many tents. 😳👍🏼
Metro cracks me up!! Another tip would be concerning setting up before the rain...and that is to make sure that your ground sheet isn't sticking out past your rainfly. As you know, we like to hammock and use rainflies. We also like to use a smaller tarp as a ground sheet underneath our hammock so that we track less dirt and grit into our hammock, On our last trip, it rained overnight and Josh was hanging lower to the ground, but had left a small part of his ground sheet out from under his rainfly. The rain dripped onto the ground sheet, then ran in and puddled right underneath him. Unfortunately, his underquilt was just low enough to start to soak up the water and he woke up the next morning with a soaked rearend!
Great ideas Brad. Yeah, I should have mentioned the ground sheet. I have messed up a time or too and had it lit past the tent and made a puddle. Appreciate ya! Crow✌️
I kept picturing Metro sticking his head in and saying, " Give me those charms!" Your thumbnail made me a little light-headed. That guy sitting in the the Duplex is incredibly rugged-looking & handsome! 😉
Great tips. We actually got something called a travel toilet. Super light and comes with a bag and a fittings for either dudes or chics! It's awesome! I'll just send Rugged Mountain Sister out to get the food bag! 😅 Hoping it doesn't rain on the PMT!
great tips crow! the shammie or light load towel is key for sure, esp with single walled tents. I'd throw in customizing the interior of your tent for max comfort. I bought the gear shelf pocket for my GG1 tent so I can get more gear off the floor of the tent. It also acts as a great phone holder so you can go hands free for your show/movie watching experience.
@@ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING for sure! It's only $5 right now and I'm thinking of modding out the Plex Solo with another loop patch to add it to that tent as well 🤙
Get an XMid Pro 2 (solves problem 2 and helps with #4) ... room for your pack inside and large vestibules for cooking without opening your doors! Recommend the Windburner stove so you don't have any exposed flame near your tent. I've got to remember extra treats for bribing! 😄 No matter the weather or temps - bathroom time is always outside!
#1 tip - use a hammock. More room under the tarp to cook, stretch-out, stand. Can use your backpacking chair or sit in the hammock instead of sitting on the ground. Con: if your water breaks fail or if you forget to do water breaks, you will get wet in a hammock.
Because I’m short, I can fit my zero chair inside tent and chill out comfortably. I also try to check weather prior…I don’t mind rain, just not the entire trip…been there done that no thank you.
It's a bit more weight, but maybe bring an extra community tarp (and chair) so you don't have to stay in your tent the whole time. Might be worth it to relieve the numb legs.

Very good point! Thanks for watching it. Crow✌️
Bribes almost always work…almost. Thanks for the lucky charms!
Absolutely my friend! Those bars are a super food.

😂✌️… should have mentioned that. 👍🏻
💯 yes! Backpacking/camping in the rain is so much better/easier in a hammock!

Yes...send the kids for the food bag. Good strategy. Thanks my friend for watching it. Crow
Don't know what it was about this one, but your delivery was relaxed and made the video flow really well. Nice work!
Appreciate that very much Mark! You are very kind. Crow✌️

Good idea for a video and great tips. I especially love the bribe a friend tip. Thanks for sharing!
😂✌️ I’m always up for a bribe to stay out of the rain. 😊
I hear ya. Unless I’m laying down, my legs will fall asleep if I set up in the tent more than 30 minutes. Old man circulation. lol. ✌️
Exactly!!!! Thanks for watching it my friend.
I need to learn how to pitch my tent like you did in the beginning LMAO great video bro! Youre always full of awesome information and tips!
Appreciate it t Zak! 🙏

Do you not just get up and hike? You famous RUclipsrs! LOL! Love ya brother
I can’t get wet…I melt. 😂😂😂
I want to see the video on perfecting that tent setup at the beginning!😂
😂😂😂
Good tips, thanks Crow.
Thanks my friend! This was a fun one just to sit in the tent and ramble. Appreciate ya! Crow
I like nature wonderful
😊🙏
Great tips. I'm going to explore bivy & tarp camping soon so thinking it could be very nice with the space.. or horrible with wind 😅
Oh yeah. I love a good tarp and bivy setup. I have one I sometimes use. It is great for a rainy day. Crow
Thanks for sharing

Number five: bribery. Got it. I recommend a tarp and set that up over the tent. Gives you more room to cook and relax.
Good idea! Yeah, that will definitely give more room for working space. Thanks for watching it. Crow✌️

Dude I forgot about this. I was near by LOL You guys and your urine bladders...
I put a reference to you in the description…you gave me the idea for this video. 🙏
I’ve bribed and been bribed. Love some trail bribery. 😂🦑
Bribery is the fruit of life. 😂✌️
What do you do with a wet rain jacket? I've never found a good solution for this.
if you have a trekking pole tent ... I hang my wet jacket/stuff off of my trekking poles.
Great idea! 👍🏻
How durable are those paper towels? Are they like Bounty towels?
I have had that one for two years. They are actually really good stuff. I have an extra one ready to go when that one finally kicks the bucket. Crow✌️
@@ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING thank you for what you do. Saves us money by watching you try stuff out.
Old man issues. Lol
