- Come check out the epic 4-bedroom apartments in Martinez! Best place I ever lived at Berkeley. ~$1000/month with utilities included.
Pros:
- modern style (recently built)
- very clean (before you move in), custodians clean your bathroom and replace toilet paper every week
- best location ever (2 min walk to Barrows)
- very safe location (at entrance), between the not-so-safe regions past People's Park (hillegass/haste/etc.) and campus
- next to Crossroads (can also be a negative, see below)
- "subsidized" $1,000/month for single + full utilities + cleaning service + location impossible to beat
- very quiet, apartments separated by concrete walls (unless you talk very very loudly, then they hear you in the halls)
- probably many more but I'm too lazy to think of more
Cons
- next to Crossroads (Crossroads sucks)
- "expensive" compared to a double or triple (duh)
- very hard to get into (regent's scholars and upperclassmen get priority, so apply with a regents scholar if possible, but even still not guaranteed)
Thanks for the intel! You should know that this vid is very helpful. Today I got my housing offer and its here at Martinez Commons. I have no idea what to expect but your video is great!
thank you for the video. I'm transferring to Berkeley this fall and I've been researching on what to do for housing and I decided to apply for Martinez apartments instead of resident halls. can you give more details on your experience at martinez commons? maybe explain pros and cons?

Gary Li thank you so much I actually got a single and I'm moving in on August 23rd. What's a regents scholar? also what items would you recommend to get for the room? did you get your study chair or it was already there?
Items included in the room are standard furniture like bed, desk, chair, drawers. There should be a comprehensive list on the Martinez website.
does it come with meal plan like Unit 1, 2, 3?
Hey! I am just wondering, is the academic center (with all the computers) on the first floor? And do any students have to have rooms next to or above it? I was also wondering if Channing Bowditch students can access the Martinez Gym and Computers? :o
I wanted to live in Martinez Commons, but got Channing Bowditch instead. Can't find any RUclips apartment tours of Channing Bowditch. 😭
So I assume that this place doesn't come with meal plan like Unit1,2,3?
Thank you so much for your video. I got my housing offer and it is Martinez Commons: RH Apt Sgl (YAY!) What does RH mean? and I would like to ask which view is better? I don't like the interior courtyard view, does it have a street view?
I got offered the same thing!! what did it mean 😭 hopefully you see this before friday
